Chapter 99

After we walked through the grass for some time, I finally reached Clarissa’s car. She had nestled in my arms, burying her face in the crook of my neck.

I believe she was too tired from the events of the past few days and that had to be the case. She had yet to awaken her wolf so her human body must not be so strong to let her fight and stay awake for hours.

She was visibly tired and I saw her eyelids droop as she made soft whimpering noises.

Her breath tickled against my skin and I purposely took a little time, walking around bits of broken furniture so as to let her rest.

Shadow smirked but I ignored him altogether.

I could see a few villagers going about their business and they only threw us a few curious gazes but then went ahead to do whatever they were doing.

I felt relieved to not be subjected to questions or interrogation. My mind was too tired from the influx of information and I figured that the ride back home would give me the necessary time to sort things in my head.
