"There's something you need to know." I say, making the tension in the room increase."Which is?" Kenji asks."Back to the match." I say, turning this entire conversation back on it's head. So much has happened in the few hours that we'd been in Kayden's office, that we almost forgot the main reason for the meeting."I don't know for certain, but I believe Alpha Xander is getting help from a demon.""WAIT... WHAT?" Darius shouts, clearly caught off-guard."When I disappeared, it was because the demon that made Alpha Xander disappear, took me as well. He didn't explain why, and Alpha Xander seemed pissed about it, but it seemed as though the demon was in control.""What made you think that?""Alpha Xander attempted to kill me, however, the demon commanded him to stop, as it said that it was interested in me. At one point Alpha Xander began swearing his head off, furious that I was there. However, the demon yelled for him to be quiet. Immediately Alpha Xander became mute, and it looked
When we reconvened the meeting a couple of hours later, I found myself unable to stop bouncing from the chair. To the point that Darius came over, and wrapped his arm around my waist, holding still. While he was acting calm, I knew he was just as happy as I was, if not more. I leaned into his embrace as he continued to hold me. I knew I had to calm down and pay attention. Everything that was to be discussed was extremely important. I could celebrate our engagement later."Is there any outstanding issues that we need to address before we reconvene where we left off?" Kayden asks us."Actually yes. The first thing we need to address is the Alpha challenge that took place earlier this afternoon." Kenji remarks."What about it?" I ask."Once an Alpha challenge has been finalized, the winner must go complete the Alpha Ceremony, connecting him to the pack." Kenji says."What happens if Darius doesn't?" I ask, just wanting to know."Then the pack wolves will become rogue. With no Alpha, the
...Darius POV...I found it rather hot when Wynter started barking out demands to everyone in the room. However, it wasn't necessary. Alpha ceremonies just aren't celebrated like many would think. With Wynter being a rogue, she had no way of knowing. There wasn't an alpha ceremony at Blood Moon pack, nor was there one anywhere she travelled. Alpha ceremonies took place once every twenty years or so in a pack. They weren't all that common. I knew some packs would celebrate it, but many stopped doing anything, as attendance dropped over the years. Not many were that interested in participating.I could see Wynter was hurt, so I went to her in hopes of comforting her. Though the moment the words were out of my mouth, I knew I'd messed up. I'd basically just said that because she was a rogue she wouldn't know about pack traditions. This may be partially true, however, there are many rogues that know about pack life, as they once lived in a pack. Pack life isn't secret, and most wolves kno
...Wynter POV...Before Darius had somehow figured out how to find me, I was lost in my mind. An overwhelming sensation washed over me, making me feel hopeless and lost. I started second-guessing myself to the point that I started questioning my role in my relationship with Darius. It was no secret that Darius was meant to be an Alpha. But for some reason, it was as though my brain only just registered what that meant for me.I was glad that Darius figured out a way to find me. He managed to calm me down and make me see that my thoughts had begun to plague my mind. I fell in love with Darius, even more when he told me that he would be willing to give everything up for me. Not that I would want him to, but the sentiment held a lot of power. It made me realize that I would never stand in the way of his destiny, which meant that I would be at his side the entire time. I just had to work on trusting him more. Being rogue meant that I wasn't used to trusting people. At any moment, someone
We woke up the next morning to the sound of birds chirping. A smile crept over my face as I remembered the events from last night. I turn around in Darius' embrace, placing gentle kisses along his body. I felt his arms pull me in tight along his body as he began to answer my kisses. "Good morning, beautiful." Darius says, making me smile."Good morning, Acushla." I reply, smiling."Acushla?""It means my heartbeat." I say, smiling."What language is that?" "Gaelic. I learned a bit from my travels. That was just one that stuck with me. I thought it was adorable. Plus, it's how I feel about you. Without you, my heart wouldn't beat. You mean the world to me."Darius spins us around, leaning over me as he kisses me."I think it's perfect, just like you."Darius continues to kiss his way along my body, making my head tilt back from pleasure. His lips find my core, making me melt in his hands. I so badly want to continue this, but I know we can't."Acushla, we need to stop."Darius sighs
...Darius POV...After a bit of 'fun' in the closet, we made our way into town. Since we were going by car, the trip would take a few hours. We stopped for lunch before heading to the shop where I had first seen the oracle. "I'm nervous." Wynter says, grabbing my hand."Why?" I ask."What if he doesn't tell us what we want to hear?""That could happen, but regardless of what happens, just know that nothing could ever make me stop loving you. We are in this together regardless of what he has to tell us." I say, raising our entwined hands up, to kiss her knuckles.I watch as she smiles, then leans her head against my shoulder. I can hear her heartbeat relax, so I take that as a sign to continue forward. I squeeze her hand gently, as we make our way towards the store."Uh... Darius?" Wynter questions."Yes, Farfalla?" I ask."Are you sure we're in the right area?""Ya. Why?"Without responding, she raises our hands upwards, gesturing towards the store in front of us. I look where she's
I see tears beginning to form in Catherine's eyes, only proving that Wynter's hunch must've been correct."When did you find your mate?" I asked."I met Jason the day after my 16th birthday. He was a warrior from my pack. He was so sweet and loving, and truly perfect.""What happened to him?" Wynter asked."We were attacked during the middle of the night. We were led to believe that it was rogues, however, nothing ever felt right about it.""What do you mean?" I ask."The attack was just too precise, and yet lacked motive. Typically if rogues are attacking a pack, they go straight for the packhouse. However, that wasn't the case. Rather they targeted the omegas dwelling, which was where Jason lived with his parents. Jason protected his parents from the attack, but was killed in the process.""I'm so sorry." Wynter says, as I nod my head in agreement."I was really heartbroken after that happened. I couldn't eat, and never wanted to leave my room. My dad had heard about the amazing pro
...Wynter POV...I have no idea how I even managed to do what I just did for Catherine. Once Catherine mentioned that she didn't want to be Darius' mate, something inside of me snapped. It was as though I was just watching the scenario, opposed to actually living it. I felt Caedance become stronger. She took over me when we confronted Catherine.Caedance had done something to Catherine that revealed her true heart. We could see that she was being honest when she told us about her father. We could see that she truly longed for her true mate. Which made Caedance empathize with her. Neither of us liked the idea of someone being without their mate. While Catherine had played a part in keeping Darius and I away from each other, she was still innocent. I could hear Caedance chanting in our mind when she placed her hand over Catherine's eyes. When I looked back into Catherine's after Caedance had lowered our hand, I saw a look I was all too familiar with. The look of desire for one's mate.
