89. Black Magic

...Kenji POV...

I couldn't believe what I was watching. We'd severely underestimated Alpha Xander. We thought for sure that Darius would be able to beat him, but somehow Alpha Xander seemed to have the advantage.

"He's using magic." Wynter says to me.

"What do you mean? How do you even know?"

"I can sense it. I wasn't sure at first, but I am now."

"What do you mean? How is he using magic?"

"I don't know exactly, but it feels like dark magic. During my travels, I was taught by an ancient priestess how to tap into my powers. She also taught me how to detect magic. While I'm still a novice at it, I can still sense it out. Just not as quickly as practiced witches. They would've known before the fight began."

"What does that mean for Darius?"

"Right now, I really don't know. I won't be able to tell until the fight progresses."
