131. Darkness

...Wynter POV...

I was absolutely terrified. I didn't know what to do. I was already an emotional wreck, and that was before that man had entered the room. I hated knowing that Darius' fate was on my shoulders, and my shoulders alone. Wasn't there anyone else that could do this? Couldn't the vampire from earlier do this instead? He would probably have much better experience than me.

I knew we didn't have time for delays, so I went to Darius. The doubts in my mind continued to grow wild, as I looked at the open wound in his chest. Praying for the familiar rhythm of his heart to come back.

I was psyching myself out, and I was well aware of that. I took a deep breath, and focused on what was important. I closed my eyes, concentrating on my vampiric side. I felt my canines elongate further than they ever had before. They changed from their sharp form to razor-like needles. I ran my tongue along them, and was surprised by how sharp they'd become.
