There was a time, back when I was just a kid, I had a very bad encounter with dogs. Mrs Benson was a nice old lady, who lived alone with her three Doberman dogs. She always came to visit, and when she did, she always had an apple pie in her hand.

She made absolutely the best apple pie.

I would be by the door, impatiently waiting for her, and the moment she walked in, I would yank the pie out of her hands, and dash to the kitchen, yelling ‘Dad, Dad, Mrs Benson is here with the Apple pie.’

She normally took her three dogs on a walk down the street every evening. She had a single leash, that extended into three places and hooked them. One particular day, she hadn't come with the apple pie and I was furious. I think I grew an addiction to her pie, because when she didn’t show up with it, how I felt was comparable to a drug addict who had their drugs taken away from them.

The moment I saw her from the window, I dashed out of the house. My dad had been in the bathroom so he wouldn't have be

DEVYN’S POVI was informed by the elders who dwelled at the Sacred Burial Grove that someone had died. Killed evidently. The most tragic part of it all was that it was a child. The mother had gone out to search for her son when he’d gone out to play with his friends but didn't come back. That’s when she found his corpse. Death was a normal circumstance, even for we werewolves who couldn't die from common injuries and sicknesses. But death like this was far from common, and that left me feeling uneasy.‘What is the situation over there?’ I sent a telepathic message to Liam who responded almost immediately.‘It’s worse than I thought, like nothing I’ve ever seen.’Not sure of what to expect, I braced myself for the worst. Wilona couldn't tag along since she was occupied with Gina’s training, leaving only me and Liam for the task. The burial grove was on a sacred site, positioned not so far away from the sanctuary. It was designed that way to aid the journey of departed souls to parad

GINA’S POVAfter my training session with Wilona, I was too tired to head back to the training grounds to meet Praya. Instead, I went straight to the house, my legs weakened from the run, and my lungs still recovering from the strain of labored breathing. When I got back, Devyn wasn’t at the dining like I had expected him to be. I felt kind of disappointed at his absence. The sweet aroma of Lucia’s cooking hung in the air and I followed it to the kitchen. I walked into the kitchen, and greeted Lucia who stood by the stove, working her magic as always. She cast a glance at me, “How was training today?” she asked and resumed her cooking.“Great actually,” I replied as I pulled out a jug of orange juice from the fridge. “Hungry yet?”“Yes, please,” I said as I gulped down a glass of juice in a few seconds. Lately, I had the appetite of a dog. No matter how much I ate and drank, it wasn't enough, as if my stomach was an endless hollow space.I was about to leave the kitchen when I stop

Devyn barged into my room while I was still deep in sleep. Startled, I shot upright, shrieking at him while he just casually leaned on the door frame with crossed arms, like barging into my room while I slept was the most natural thing to do in the world.I made a mental note after to lock my door anytime I was in the room. Despite having no idea where we were headed yet, I still prepared for the day. I wore a long sundress that clung at the waist before gracefully flaring down. When I got downstairs. Devyn was already eating at the dining table. I joined him as we ate, and I was grateful for the silence. This time I was able to eat my meal with no disturbance. Once we were done, we proceeded on our unknown journey together. As I followed behind him, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the pleasing sight in front of me. He wore a shirt that accentuated his well-muscled body and the sleeves revealed his strong big arms. I was practically swooning over him, despite him being a jerk.

It felt like a while ago since I trained when I had just missed a day. I wish I could’ve missed more, to be honest. One of the reasons I always looked forward to coming here was actually because of Praya and nothing else. As much as I wanted to grow stronger, it was tiring when I had to do it almost every day.Praya looked all flushed up and happy when I saw her.“Someone’s in an extremely good mood today,” I said as I sat beside her. She was bent to the ground as she stretched her legs. She quickly turned her head in response to my voice.“Gina,” her face lit up as a wide grin spread across her face.“You didn’t show up yesterday. Where were you?”“Went somewhere with Devyn,” images of Devyn with the kids flashed into my mind and I felt the butterflies in my stomach.“Oh, really now?” the mischievous smirk on her face hinted at something else, and I quickly shook my head.“Remove whatever naughty thoughts you have in your head.”“But you’re blushing all over,” she smirked again, “How

DEVYN’S POVThe moment our eyes locked, her body went still. I was surprised at the sudden change in her, when few minutes ago, she was about to murder someone. Gripping her arm, I pulled her away from the woman she had been hitting. My attention shifted to the blood seeping from her chest, and when I saw the fresh deep wounds engraved in her skin, a violent surge of anger coursed through me.I looked back at the unconscious woman sprawled on the floor, her face matted in blood, that I could barely recognize her features. If I had gotten here sooner, the woman would've been probably dead by now, but Gina had beaten her up pretty bad. Witnessing Gina’s rage had shocked me to the core. I was starting to think I underestimated her. Despite her petite frame, she was undeniably strong. It wasn't just because of her physical strength of a werewolf; her stubbornness and willingness to win fueled her.I had always liked my women weaker and submissive, but Gina was the complete opposite, and

GINA’S POVI woke up trying to recall when I had even drifted off to sleep. Memories from the previous day flooded my mind, and the last thing that happened before I passed out came back to me. I sat upright, relieved to see my wrists and ankles weren’t bound to the bedpost anymore. My gaze moved to my chest and I was surprised to see the wounds healing rapidly.I wondered if it had to do with the solution Devyn had applied to my wounds or my werewolf genes.Whatever it was, I was grateful for it.Anger bubbled through me as I descended from my bed and made my way to the bathroom. My anger was directed at Jessica for being a complete bitch—though I had given her what she deserved. Additionally, I was also mad at Devyn for handling me so roughly the other day.I wasn’t sure if what he did was out of concern or out of spite.Standing in front of the mirror while I brushed my teeth, It seemed as if Devyn was there with me. His scent still lingered in the air, and I breathed it deeply. Me

DEVYN’S POVI noticed Gina the moment she stepped out. Amidst the crowd of women surrounding her, she was the only one I saw. The moon hung motionless in the sky, its glow illuminating only her. When her alluring eyes locked mine, I took in a sharp intake of breath. The dance started as music filled the air. As she walked towards me slowly, the world around us seemed to stop.I marveled at the glorious sight of her. Her luscious wavy hair cascaded around her like the ocean waves. The white dress she wore hugged her skin and I could see the full outline of her breasts through its thin fabric. Lipstick the color of blood-red smeared her lips, adding a sensual touch. A surge of desire coursed through me, and I struggled to maintain control. After swooning over her, our eyes locked. She looked angry that I had been gawking, slightly pouting her lips and shooting daggers my way.If only she knew what the things that look on her face did to me.The women began to dance around in a circle a

GINA’S POV“Last night was a fucking mess.”I groaned as I relived the events of the other night. It was kind of my fault, now that I thought about it. I didn’t know what had come over him at that time, but all I wanted to do was tease him, just as he teased me. I loved the way his eyes never left mine, the way he followed my movements, and the way he gaped at my body.I knew the effect I had on him, and for once, I wanted to be the one in control, but I didn't expect it to reverse on me.“It couldn’t have been that bad,” Praya said, trying to make me feel better, but she wouldn't understand because she wasn't there.“I’m pretty sure everyone saw us and heard me. They must think of me as a sex maniac.”“Trust me, they would’ve been too focused on their dance and finding their mate.”She was right though. Everyone had been extremely enthusiastic about the mating ceremony dance. But I still doubted that.“I was pretty loud, Praya,” I covered my hands in shame as I leaned forward on th

Six years later. As I open the fridge to get my orange juice, my heart almost leaps out of my chest as Conri jumps out of the fridge. “Boo!”“Oh my goddess! How the hell did you even get in there?” I shriek as I place a hand on my racing heart to calm it down.”Language,” Conri yells, giggling like he just did the funniest shit in the world. He tries to run but I grab his cheek and pinch as I scold him.“Ow! Dad! Mom is hurting me,” he screams as he manages to free himself out of my grasp and run to the living room. GINA’S POVI found myself in a field, lying as I gazed at the skies. I wasn't sure where I was, but it felt and looked like paradise. The moon’s gaze met and I felt a sense of serenity. A hand suddenly caught my attention as it reached out to me. Without hesitating, I took it and I was pulled off the ground. As I stood on my feet, my breath hitched when Praya stood in front of me.My heart warmed as I pulled her into an embrace. “I missed you so much. I’m here now,” I whispered into her neck, breathing in her scent. She was real because I could feel every part of her; from the beating of her heart and the warmth radiating from her body. When I looked in front of me, my mother was standing there, waiting, with a genuine smile on her face. We pulled away from our embrace and Praya held my hand, guiding me further into paradise as she spoke, “Now we can be together.”I followed, my heart radiating with joy. When I reached my mother, I wrapped my arms around her and sank my face into

DEVYN’S POVMy whole world stopped as I held Gina in my arms. It all happened in a flash. With shaky hands, I pulled the blade out of her heart, and my heart sank deeper when she bled more. I pressed a hand to her bloodied chest, trying to stop the bleeding while I caressed her hair with my other hand.“Stay with me, please, stay with me,” was all I kept mumbling. Her amber gaze held mine, but she wasn't there… she wasn't looking. My heart twisted painfully as I felt her heartbeat slow against my palm. Standing on my feet, I carried her in my arms. She felt heavier than usual, her head fell back and her arms sagged lifelessly as I ran. She was still alive, though her heartbeat was faint. There was still a chance to save her. The fight had stopped as the monsters fell dead, probably because their master was dead, but I couldn’t care less… reviving her was the only thing on my mind. I never took my eyes off her face, hoping for some sort of miracle, to see those eyes come back to lif

Everything happened in a flash. Wilona charged towards me and just as she was about to lunge at me, Liam jumped in and clashed into her. My head ached as I regained consciousness, and when my vision adjusted to my surroundings, I found myself lying on a bed. Turning, I saw Kristen by my side, her eyes filled with concern.“You’re awake, thank goodness,” she exclaimed, pulling me into a tight hug. As she held me, her body shook and I realized she was sobbing.Looking around, I realized we were being kept in a well-furnished luxurious room, surprised we weren't locked in a dark dungeon. I recalled the events before I passed and when Damien’s face flashed in my mind, my blood boiled with rage.“I’m scared, Gina. I can’t even remember how I got here,” Kristen’s voice made my heart sink. When I looked at her body and the cuts on her body, my anger intensified even more.I clutched her face in my hand, and wiped her tears with my thumb, “I understand how you feel. I’m so sorry you got dragged into this, but I promise, I’m going to get us out of this shithole.”She nodded her head, and I was glad she had faith in me. I walked

It didn’t take more than an hour till I got to my destination. Immediately we drove through the gates, there was an uneasy feeling that washed over me. I peered through the window, observing my surroundings. Everything seemed and looked normal, yet, it was far from it.When the car came to a halt, the driver who had been silent the entire ride opened the door for me, and I stepped out reluctantly. When I looked up, I found myself standing in front of a huge dark mansion. I would’ve admired the remarkable architecture if not for the feeling of anxiety creeping down my spine. There was something thick in the atmosphere that made my skin crawl and I couldn't understand what it was.I took a deep breath as I walked ahead, being led to the mansion’s entrance by two large men. As the door opened, we stepped into the mansion, walking through wide long halls. When we reached the next doorway, the door swung open, revealing a majestic dining room. The interior was breathtaking with golden re

He not only attacked our pack while we were gone but also had to kidnap my best friend.Devyn snatched the phone from Liam and put it to his ear.“What are you playing at, you fucking bastard?” he spat out, his voice filled with venom. Reluctantly, he handed me the phone.“He wants to speak to you specifically.”Wasting no time, I grabbbed the phone and placed it against my ear.“Put it on speaker. I want to hear what he says to you,” Devyn instructed and I obeyed as I pressed the speaker button.“Gina.”Chills went through my spine, leaving an uneasy feeling within me. I hated the way he said my name, and I wished he’d never say it again.

DEVYN’S POVAs we walked out of the church, Flora along with the other witches was underneath the tree, waiting. The moment we were out, they walked towards us. I had a hand on Gina’s waist, guiding her protectively. After the ritual, she was different. She was more tender, and quieter, and her scent had changed too. She normally smelled more like a human, but this time she smelt more like a wolf, but not completely one.“I see it was successful,” Flora chimed as a triumphant expression etched on her face, “And quick too.”Gina nodded lightly and I couldn’t help but feel pride. She was special, and it didn’t just have to do with her destiny and her abilities. She was brilliant, a quick learner and unique.“Now you’re going to face what’s ahead of you. Are you ready?
