Elise's POV

I should’ve been more prepared knowing that this was a fight to the death. Even if it wasn’t, we were still surrounded by Fredrick’s pack. I knew that this pack wouldn’t play fair and yet I still didn’t anticipate the dirty moves they would pull.

I was watching the fight intensely, monitoring every movement both wolves made.

Every lunge and bite and scratch was agony to watch as I waited for the final blow, hoping it wouldn’t be Jackson dead on the floor. I flinched every time Fredrick got his claws in my mate as if he was hurting me instead, but every time Jackson pushed back a sense of pride flooded me and I wanted to cheer him on.

The first slash that Fredrick had given Jackson seemed to knock him down for a moment and I thought maybe it had just hit a sore or sensitive spot. However, Jackson didn't let his guard down, and he evaded the next attack and used his environment to his advantage.

Then Jackson had the upper hand after knocking Fredrick’s head and landing blow

Elise's POVThere was silence as I spoke except for Poppy’s low warning growl as she kept twisting my arm. But I wouldn’t break, not this time, not when Jackson needed me the most. I kept my stare level with Fredrick’s, not wanting to be the first to break it, even to check on Jackson.Jackson was strong, he wasn’t dead. He wasn’t dead yet. I just had to keep telling myself that so I wouldn’t look away.I was being brave, braver than I'd been in a long time. This was the man who'd tortured my father, who'd murdered my family and who butchered more people than I could count, but only now could I stand up to him. Only now I could bargain.Frederick took forever to debate in his head his next move and for a dreaded moment I was worried that it wasn’t going to work and I’d still be forced to watch my mate die. Fredrick's grip on Jackson's neck didn't tighten or loosen for a very long time and my heart pounded in my ears with each passing second.Gradually, Fredrick slowly opened his jaws

Jackson’s POVThis couldn’t be happening. I refused to let it happen.I was broken and bloodied, my wounds burning with an immense pain that I didn’t know was possible but the worst pain was watching the scene in front of me helplessly. Elise was in the arms of Fredrick, trembling as he placed his hands in a way that made my blood boil. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. If he hadn’t had that damned Blessed Silver coating his claws I could’ve beaten him. Though I should've expected that kind of underhanded activity from him, he had no intention of fighting fair afterll. But that was what happened and I was now being held back by two inferior wolves, who, if I had my full strength couldn't have held me down even if they tried, watching my beloved mate about to be lost to me forever.I’d heard Elise’s offer loud and clear and tried to fight through the pain rocketing my body, but the Blessed Silver had weakened me and I’d lost connection with Darius. The first time I lost contact w

Jackson’s POVChristian’s eyes held a deadly vengeance as he shot towards me and took out the two warriors holding me like it was nothing. They barely stood a chance. I offered him a weak smile, struggling to stay standing as the Blessed Silver still coursed through my body. I didn’t realise it had affected me this much until I was left to stand on my own. Christian nudged against me, offering to be my crutch for the time being.Clarissa jumped down from Christian’s back and ran a glowing hand over my body, the wound caused by the Blessed Silver closing slowly but surely. It must’ve been a difficult wound to heal, however, because beads of sweat dripped down Clarissa’s face and she shook like it was taking too much energy.I'd never seen anything like that from Clarissa before. It was worrying.I poked around in my head for Darius, but he was still asleep, recovering from the onslaught to his soul.“You okay?” Clarissa asked, giving me another look over.“I’m fine,” I replied honestly

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 93

Elise’s POVI heard the howls just like all the others, and Fredrick, in his surprise or panic, let go of me, thrusting me into the arms of one of his warriors so roughly that I almost fell over. I grunted as I made impact and so did the guard since he didn’t expect it. We were both surprised, it seemed, that Fredrick hadn't just taken me and run. He was angry, and angry meant he'd lost control. That was clear as his eyes blazed menacingly as he looked at the intruders.“Make sure she doesn’t go anywhere,” Frederick growled with a threatening undertone in his voice like I was his precious pet, before he shifted into his monstrous wolf and hurried towards where different wolves began to emerge. An endless stream of wolves came from every direction, taking Fredrick’s pack by surprise. Some of them I recognised from training with the Full Moon pack, others were strangers whose scents I didn't even recognise. I only hoped they were on our side, or at the very least knew I wasn't an enemy

Elise’s POVI felt unstoppable. Was this how everyone felt when they shifted? I was faster, stronger, and could see everything clearer and with much more vividity like the whole world was mine. I tasted the warrior’s blood in my mouth but didn’t feel any disgust at it the way I once might’ve.I had felt guilty about Derek and the spy whose name I didn’t know, but I felt nothing knowing that I’d killed this warrior. Maybe it was because the situations were different: This man had tried to keep me hostage, and Derek had failed. Or maybe it was because my heart hardened, realising that I wouldn’t survive if my heart kept breaking over every little thing.Once I knew the warrior was dead, I took a step back, panting as all my senses shocked me at once: The sound of wolves panting, howling and yelping, the smell of pine, blood and sweat coating the air, the earth beneath my paws rumbled from the monstrosity of movement it undertook.I took a quick look around me, trying to figure out where

Jackson’s POVAs soon as Clarissa placed the shield around my wound, I felt Darius wake up. Though he was still weak and groggy, he was there. I could’ve thrown my arms around Clarissa and thanked her a thousand times, but there was no time. And Darius knew that too.I shifted almost immediately, feeling the pain of the Blessed Silver straining against the shield, but I pushed through until I was on all four paws and my senses were heightened. There was a considerable strain on my heart and I knew it was the battle between the Blessed Silver’s curse and Clarissa’s magic trying to keep it at bay.I couldn’t waste any more time so I sprinted towards where I had seen Fredrick’s wold stalk towards Elise. But just as I came closer to them, I saw Christian’s wolf lying practically motionless against a tree save for the soft rise and fall of his back.My anger rose in me seeing my beta almost dead on the floor and Fredrick stalking towards my mate like a maniac.A growl launched its way up m

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 96

Elise’s POVI had to do something. I couldn’t just stand there and do nothing, even as my leg throbbed in pain. I was sick of standing around and doing nothing. Look where it had gotten Christian, broken and injured against a tree, barely breathing. And now Fredrick was going to do the same to Jackson, maybe even worse. I could tell Jackson was weakened from their fight before. I’d trained with him long enough in both his human and wolf form to be able to spot the signs. His eyes, though angry, had light creases around them to show he was tired, his nose was twitching and he had an impatience to his steps like he was desperate for this to be over.He wouldn’t survive the fight for much longer alone, especially if Fredrick managed to swipe at him with the Blessed Silver again.I got to my feet, trembling from the pain in my leg. I tried to shake it off and with Stella, it was healing quicker than before, but it would still take a while. Cuts and bruises were one thing, broken bones we

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 97

Jackson’s POV It was dark when I opened my eyes and I had no idea where I was. It was like I was floating in space but there was absolutely nothing surrounding me, just an endless tunnel of darkness and isolation. Was I dead? No, no this couldn’t be happening. Even if I was dead I would crawl my way back to earth to save my pack and my mate.“Hello?” I called out, knowing that it was futile, but on the off chance someone could hear me, I did it anyway. When I didn’t get a response, I chose a direction, left or right it didn’t really matter, and started floating that way in the hopes that I’d find something to help me get out from wherever or whatever this place was.Time was strange in this place. I tried counting the minutes in my head but after a certain point, it was like my mind restarted and the counting started again. Even when I tried to keep track of the resets it didn’t matter. My mind was a mess of confusion and fear. This couldn’t have been what the afterlife was like. If

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Epilogue

Fredrick's POV It wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.In that dungeon, trapped like a common animal I had time to think. And in that time I thought of all the ways I could make them suffer. Make Jackson, the puny brat who barely deserved the title alpha pay, and most of all make Elise suffer ten times over.I’d planned to play nice, it wouldn’t do if the other packs saw me abuse my luna, but now I had no choice. I still needed her, her visions of the future would help me take control of the world, but I only needed her alive, not comfortable.“Alpha Fredrick, Master Caius requests your presence,” One of the filthy thralls knocked at my door, daring to order me around.I flashed my canines at the servant, but he was too drained to flinch or show any kind of emotion.I stood without doing more to acknowledge the thrall as I left the private room Caius had designated for me. I think he meant to be insulting. I was an honoured guest yet I got a ‘spare’ room and was being ordered around by a

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 108

Elise's POVWe wasted no time hurrying to the dungeons, barely letting the warrior’s words sink in as we hurried into a run. I was a luna now, their luna, I didn’t have the privilege of time to be worried or scared because now I had people to protect.I barely felt myself breathe as I ran to the dungeons where Fredrick had last been held. We entrusted Christian with keeping the pack calm as we went to investigate. All the warriors were on guard and Jackson had given orders, “Secure the grounds and gather the trackers for footprints or anything we can use to find them!”When we saw the cells, they were still locked tightly, but the three of them had gone. There were no signs of struggle against the bars or the locks, no damage to the interior walls and the smell of wolfsbane was still thick in the cells. It was like they’d just vanished.I might've believed that too if it weren't for multiple guards passed out besides the three cells, not a mark on their body but looking pale and uncom

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 107

Elise’s POVMy heart was hammering as the rope was wrapped around our wrists and I couldn’t help but stare lovingly at my mate. He was looking at me the same way and I felt like crying. This was it. This was my family. This was my home.My first encounter with Jackson had been me rejecting a pack, and now I was accepting one.“Honoured guests,” Clarissa started, “We are gathered here today, not just to join two mates together for eternity, but to welcome Elise Clares into our pack as our Luna.”Cheers erupted from the crowd and I found myself checkling, a happy tear escaping from my eye. I saw Annabelle and Christian yelling the loudest with Doctor Heath holding his mate close to him and kissing her at the top of her head.“Do you, Alpha Jakson of the Full Moon pack accept Elise Clares as your destined mate?”“I do,” Jackson said without any hesitation as his grip on my hands tightened slightly, “From the moment I met you Elise, I felt something pulling me towards you. At first, I tho

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 106

Jackson's POVI took a deep breath feeling more nervous than I’d ever felt in my entire life. I was wearing a dark blue suit with a white rose pinned to my breast pocket, my hair styled and slicked back with The Alpha’s Crown placed securely on my head and my face cleanly shaven for once. Christian had said if I didn’t shave it he was going to strap me to a chair and do it himself. As much as I trusted my Beta, I didn't exactly want slices on my chin for my wedding day.I ran a hand over the smooth skin and tried to remember the last time I’d shaved it properly instead of trimmed, I'd always found the scruffy look made me look more intimidating and I was pretty sure Elise liked it. Oh well, I could grow it back. It seemed like I was trying to think of just about anything to pass the time as I waited fro Elise and tried not to fidget like an idiot.Christian was smirking next to me and I managed to subtly jab him in the ribs.I remembered making fun of him as he waited for Annabelle du

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 105

Elise’s POVFrom the second I woke up I was pampered by Clarissa and Annabelle who seemed to be more excited than me for the Luna Ceremony, which was saying a lot considering I was jittering with nerves and excitement. I never expected to accept this kind of arrangement so quickly but it just felt like the right thing to do. I wanted this ceremony to happen, I wanted to officially be Jackson’s mate for the world to see and be the Luna of this amazing pack that I now called family.Annabelle shoved me into a large bath filled with so many bubbles, salts and essential oils that I didn’t think the smell of lilies and roses would ever leave my skin. Then they pulled me into a chair as they dried and styled my hair for what seemed like hours, not in a negative way because the two of them made me laugh as we took photos and told funny stories. They curled my hair so it fell like a wave against my back before they braided and tied it so I looked like a blonde Celtic princess. The makeup came

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 104

Jackson's POVAfter we managed to get some kind of normalcy in the pack, there was still an air of stress and anxiety. We had multiple members of Fredrick’s pack join us and made sure we kept them far away from the dungeons and monitored them sufficiently just in case anyone tried to break Fredrick and the others out.“The guards and warriors won’t be too rough with them, will they?” Elise asked the last time I saw her, clutching my arm as she watched some of the refugees being directed to their houses looking terrified.I shook my head in assurance, “No, they have strict orders to treat them carefully unless they prove to be a threat, even then they are to take them down with as much force as is necessary and take them to the dungeon.”No one had seemed to try to convince any of my guards to let them pass into the dungeon or even look that way. Instead, they looked somewhat relieved to know that their former alpha was imprisoned there. Nor did they try to fight my pack. Elise was rig

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 103

Elise's POVIt was strange walking through the dungeon, free and in charge rather than as a prisoner. I’d been held captive twice in two different dungeons and had to admit that I wasn’t a fan. Maybe that was because I hadn’t deserved it, but neither had the people who got experimented on at Fredrick’s hand. I felt no sympathy or empathy for the ex-alpha as we reached his cell. There were five guards posted in the dungeons, two to watch Fredrick, two to watch Melanie and one to watch Poppy. They all seemed serious and offered Jackson, Christian and me a bow of respect before immediately resuming their posture and attention. As we rounded to Fredrick’s cell, I had to stop and stare. He looked terrible, not the large, imposing alpha who made everyone tremble at just the mention of his name. His clothes were dirty and ripped, his hair was a greasy mess and he looked like a feral animal. I never thought it was possible to see him looking so pathetic and powerless.I noticed the large amou

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 102

Elise's POVJackson asked if I wanted to move into the Pack House before the Luna Ceremony and I accepted. But before I could do that, I wanted to go back to the house I’d lived in when I first came to the pack. Before I could move into somewhere new, I wanted to say goodbye.I hadn’t lived in that house long, but it was the first thing that was mine and held a lot of memories like first connecting with Annabelle and Christian, the movie nights with Annabelle and just a general sense of safety and security.“I can go with you if you want,” Jackson offered when I first brought up the idea. “No, thank you,” I said softly, smiling at him, “I don’t have much to move… It’s just to say goodbye.”He didn’t argue or protest, he simply gave me a kiss on the cheek before I headed off.As I walked through the pack, I couldn’t help but reminisce how everything was different now. The first time I was newly out of chains and was being escorted to my new home by Christian. Everyone looked at me war

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 101

Elise's POV It was a question we’d all been dreading and I knew that it was partially my fault. If it wasn’t for me then Fredrick would be dead in the dirt and the packs would have one less thing to worry about. But he wasn’t dead and though I knew it was the right decision I also knew that a lot of the other wolves, both in the council room or not would find it difficult to understand.“With all due respect, Luna, would you mind explaining further as to why we can’t kill him?” Doctor Heath asked me, treating me like his luna already though we hadn’t had the ceremony yet. The others might have been saying it out of respect but I knew that Doctor Heath had meant it. He had been one of my first friends when I came here and he'd helped me through so much that I could never thank him enough for it.“I know it’s hard to believe, but a long time ago my family were blessed by The Moon Goddess.”I paused, waiting for some kind of negative reaction. Encountering The Moon Goddess was rare and
