Jason's POV:

"Mom!" Henry gasped as we simultaneously untangled from each other's gaze. I took a few steps backward while Henry eyed me maliciously and walked towards his mother who stood transfixed at a spot.

"Henry. What did you just say?" Mrs. Brook reiterated, her voice shrieking through the roof. "Is Veronica truly alive? Answer me!"

"No, Mom. I…I don't know. I…just…just said that so Jason could leave me alone," Henry stammered. "He threatened to hurt me if I did not tell him where Veronica was. I guess he is being delusional about Veronica being alive."

I knew Henry was lying but I didn't want to create a scene at the Brook's home so I kept my calm.

"Jason, I think you should leave now. You were the one who publicly rejected Veronica as your mate and you can't come to my house and harass my son as well," Mrs. Brooks said, glaring at me. "We've learned to accept Veronica's disappearance and you can't come here and open healed wounds,
