Clara's POV

I walked to and fro in my room, wringing my hands together nervously. Dominique had just proposed to me to become his Mate, and now I was in a dilemma. On one hand, accepting his proposal would mean giving up my dreams of becoming an alpha, but on the other hand, it could secure my position in the pack and give me more power.

As I paced back and forth, I couldn't help but think of Betty, one of the rogue werewolves that was saved in the old factory where we thought Laura and Alexander were. I had gotten a bit close to her since she arrived, she had suggested I accept Dominique's proposal. She was as ambitious and hungry for power as I was, and I couldn't help but wonder if she had her own agenda in pushing me towards accepting.
