"You didn't have to come, Alpha Lucas. I'm fine, I swear," I forced the words out as I tried to keep my eyes open but they only hurt.

"Yeah, and you're not shivering in bed right now," Alpha Lucas pointed out with narrowed eyes, standing next to my bed where I lay.

"Ugh, I feel like I'm being scolded."

" You are," he clarified. "And you're not leaving that bed until you get enough rest. It's for your own good, Irene. You've been through enough."

I still can't believe my body broke down on me in just a few days after returning home. It's not like I've done anything strenuous besides putting up with Karson's seduction and emotional conflict all week.

" You will do no such thing. The doctor said you need to rest. Now lay in bed while I take care of you and the kids."
