CHAPTER 18

IRENE'S POV

Previous night

I stared at the text message from Nanny May with a small smile on my lips. It was relieving to hear about them every now and then. The message was short and simple, "The kids are fast asleep. You don't need to worry. Although, Carl keeps asking of you. He's not used to you being away for so long but you don't need to worry. I put him to bed."

Oh Carl! I missed him a lot. He was the soft one; always quick to cry whenever I was nowhere in sight. I knew Karin was missing me too, she just had a hard time showing it.

I rolled my fingers over the keyboard, biting a corner of my lip. I would give anything to be there with them right now; even if it was just to kiss them goodnight but with the way the things had gotten co complicated, I doubted if I would still be able to make it back home tomorrow.

"Thank you so much for letting me know. Please continue to take good care of them." I read aloud as I typed my reply.

After sending the message, I dropped back on my bed
