AURELIA'S POV

The words didn't exactly surprise me, I had once heard one of the nuns mention something about my rare purpose and identity but I didn't expect to be from this race of wolves.

The announcement left me feeling scared and totally flustered. The history of the white wolves can only be found in old and ancient textbooks. The race had gone extinct decades of ago. The white wolves are said to be the moon goddess's children.

History had it that the moon goddess once become bored of creating werewolves out of dust. She was also sad at the fact that she didn't have her own children. So she came into the world, and disguise herself as a regular werewolf. She became mated to a Alpha wolf known as Fenrir, and together the moon goddess delivered a set of twins, a boy and a girl.

After few months of childbirth, Alpha Fenrir changed towards his wife, the Moon goddess, who kept her dentity under the name Evadne. Fenrir became an abusive husband, who took delight in assaulting his

Aurelia's POV The question made me remember Emily's reaction and her decision to stop working for me afterwards. She told me Dante made everyone in the castle live by his laid down rules and principles, most of which were awkward. I had no murderous intent, but Dante's decision to have me and every other person, including the lady who wrote the diary, irritated me. Nurse Griselda advanced closer to the door, and was going to open it when the devil descended on me. I charged at her and pulled her away, pinning her to the wall and placing the knife to her neck. “Please don't do this,” she cried. “Don't hurt me. I beg of you.” “No,” I answered, pressing the knife tighter to her neck. “You conspired with Dante to destroy my life and render me useless, the same way you ended the life of the first person who came here. I feel no pity for you Griselda,” I clenched my teeth and pressed the knife closer to her kneck. “Tell me the truth now, or bid the world goodbye.” Griselda had

It's been a year now, and I haven't been able to get over her, or love another person. I knew you had seen me sneaking into the bedroom far end of the castle at night. Yes, I visit Melissa every night and tell her everything happening in my life. I know she can hear me because her heart still beats. She can feel my touch, she can see me. The only thing she does not have is the ability to move her body, and it is because her body has become dead. She can never have strength again in her body. The body has been condemned. The only thing Melissa has left is her soul. Her soul needs a body.”He turned away from the window then, and threw a glance at me. “That is where you

Aurelia's POV My head throbbed as consciousness slowly returned. The room spun around me, and for a moment, I couldn't remember where I was or how I'd gotten there. Then it all came crashing back—Dante, the shaman, their horrifying plan. I bolted upright, heart racing, only to find myself alone in the library. They'd left me here, locked away like a toy to be played with later. But I knew they'd be back soon to finish what they'd started. I had to get out of here, and fast.I stumbled to my feet, ignoring the wave of dizziness that threatened to send me back to the floor. My body ached from the earlier confrontation, but I pushed the pain aside. There had to be a way out of this room.I tried the door first, of course. Locked tight, as expected. The windows were barred, and even if I could break the glass, we were too high up for me to risk jumping. I searched desperately for anything I could use as a weapon or tool, but Dante had been thorough in removing anything potentially danger

You do know how to cause trouble don't you?”The words jolted into my mind, with an immensity that nearly made me fall out of my seat. With my eyes dazed I looked out of the window of the moving carriage and saw that we were in a thick and dense forest. I had begun to wonder where Djurek was when another voice spoke again. “I knew you were a troublemaker the first time I saw you but I was not expecting this much distress.” I looked in the direction of the voice and saw him sitting across me with his arms folded across his chest, his face twisted into a smirk. I did not remember when he got into the carriage with me, I realized that I had passed out after the audio with Dante and his men.“where is Melissa?” I questioned, looking around the carriage frantically, as the realization suddenly hit me. “I helped her get into the carriage with me. Where is she?”I looked at Djurek again, his brown eyes seemingly piercing through my chest. “Do you know where she is?”“I have no desire to

Dante's POV The whole attack felt like a dream. I never anticipated it, I wasn't even sure I could give an account of how Djurek and his men stormed my castle and kidnapped my wife and my possession. That bastard! How dare him think he could just get away with everything he did. He was only a few more conquest away from being a king, the feat that's I had been struggling to achieve for my entire life. Djurek had it easy, his conquest was easy because he neither had to force or subjugate anyone or any clan. They all bowed to him the instant he set foot into their lands, something they never did to me! The remaining packs in the western werewolf land were already paying obeisance to Djurek and asking him for assistance. And the bastard had the money to purchase their loyalty. He sent his builders to fix their roads, and irrigate their crops. Djurek never wanted to be king, he stole my dream, and has been blocking my progress all these years. In all my years of warring and conquest,

Djurek's POV The last words I uttered to Aurelia in the carriage brought a smile to my face everytime it crossed my mind. The words had jabbed her at the sides, her eyes widening with shock as her cheeks turned red with embarrassment. I sensed that she had been tempted to ask me what I meant, and I was grateful that she didn't, because I didn't have an answer. I was even confused that I had made the statement at first, the words seemed to have rolled out of my tongue on their own will. The moon goddess had done her irrevocable will of joining two people people who are disinterested in each other. But I won't be bending, I choose not to be coerced. I would rather remain a bachelor for the remaining years of my life. I felt it, a distinct wave of peaceful ease, the moment Aurelia stepped into my castle. I hadn't had any nightmare ever since then, but I didn't want to have anything to do with Aurelia. She could spend the rest of her days seeking means to resuscitate Dante's mummy. I

Aurelia's POV It had been a week since Djurek rescued me from Dante and the shaman. But something weird has been happening: he hasn't come around to take Melissande away from me. When Djurek mentioned the fact that I had put him and the pack in trouble I reasoned with him and understood what he meant. But Dante has not shown up ever since then, neither has he sent a message or a threat. Melissa was here with me, still as unresponsive to medications as ever. The royal physician said she would never wake up, but I ignored him and continued to read medical books and magic spells. The royal physician, who was a stout white haired man scoffed and called me silly when he saw my attempt to bring Mellisande back to life. I was in her room that morning, reading a old resuscitation spell into her ears when he walked inside without knocking the door. He looked at me as though I had lost my mind, and he walked to the far end of the room and switched off the steam powered life support machine.

AURELIA'S POVA loud and deep gasp escaped from my throat as my eyes landed on Djurek. He stood at the door, dressed in his voyage clothes of black overall coat and boots. His hand leaning on the knob, his shadow darkening the room. Amelia and Alicent turned around instantly, but the shock on my face had dissipated already. Djurek threw a warning glance at me, after I gasped, and I knew it meant not to utter any other word. The room was silent, with everyone seeming to process the development behind Djurek’s announcement, when Alicent suddenly stormed towards Djurek. “You bastard," she said, grabbing him by the shoulders and shaking him. “How could you do this to me? You promised me and I gave everything up for you. “No, " Djurek said in objection, raising his hand to cut her off. “You never gave me anything. Everything you've done in this place is to solidify your claim to the throne as the Queen and noble woman of my pack. There is nothing else I wanted other than peace. And you

Aurelia's POV “I am sorry Melissa, but you are going to have to get off the bed. “ I walked towards the bed, grabbed her hand and tried pulling off the bed softly. I could sense that the sound of the name did a number on her emotions as I saw a flicker of fear flash across her face. I could see the horrible night I spent in the library replaying on Melissa's face but then we could not waste any more time. “Why do we have to go to Dante's place very suddenly?” She croaked. “I thought we were going to move to a place around the lake; I thought you said you already found a cottage we could manage.” “I understand that you are afraid, Melissa, but our journey and everything ascribed to our identity seems to be a big puzzle, but now that you have mentioned Jolene, I think we are about to make a big progress.” I stretched my hand, hoping to pull her off her back, but she flinched, her eyes growing wide with consternation. “I don't want to set my eyes on that dreadful monster.” Sh

Melissa’s POV “Did you truly assault your husband?” “Husband?” Aurelia spun around immediately, her brows creased in confusion as she faced me. “I was referring to the Alpha; I thought you people were engaged to be married, or am I mistaken?” Aurelia stormed into the room some minutes ago, reeking of sweat and dripping with blood. Her long gown had been ripped into shreds, bearing a sharp semblance of rags. She did not say anything to me for a long time, and I was not able to hear the news until my messenger came to deliver the news of the Alpha and his council. I had not known Aurelia for a long time, but one thing was obvious: she was stronger than me. She possessed qualities I would never have dreamed of having. If she had been married to Dante, she would not have ended up in this kind of horrible situation. “Djurek, I can't believe I used to be in love with him.” “You are still in love with him,” I said as slowly as I could, trying to placate her. “He is you

Aurelia's POV “Who?” I asked. "Who are you referring to?" “It's a woman,” Melissande answered slowly, eyes squinted in calculation. “We're quite familiar with ourselves, but she doesn't know a lot about me. Hmm wait, I'm trying to remember her name.” She placed her hand on her chin and started stroking it. “Who is it?” I waited as she kept trying to remember, but just as she opened her mouth to speak, the door was suddenly flung open. “The Alpha Regent has requested to see you.” A tall and burly guard announced. “The Alpha Regent? Who is that?” The guard's refusal to answer the question brought the realization to me then. “But when did Djurek become a regent? Wasn't he just an Alpha before?” “You are not allowed to speak the king's name.” The guards snapped, eyeing me contemptuously. “And yes, he will be crowned king of the kingdom very soon. The heir's mother has even begun to plan his coronation.” “Oh really?” “Of course” I squeezed my face and twitched

Aurelia's POV My heart turned to ice in my chest, sending waves of shock ripping through me. I stopped in my tracks, face contorted in disbelief as I slowly turned around. “Aurelia!” she called out again, attempting to raise her head off the bed. “Melisande” I muttered slowly, my voice betraying me in a whisper. “Yes.” She answered. “I have been looking for you.” “How come you know me?” I asked, feeling the weight of the question on my lips. “How come you recognize me?” “You're my sister,” the pale and sickly woman answered. “I have been looking for my whole life.” My ears still had issues believing in these words, and my brain struggled hard to process them and make meaning of them. Melissande, the comatose puppet I met at Dante's castle, was my sister, not only just a sister but also my twin sister. These realizations felt like a dream or the climax part of a movie where all the events just collide and hit themselves. My name is Aurelia; I knew that for sure but an

But how could this be? A part of me wanted to discard this question because it was possible for her to have also bought the earrings, but it was unusual since women fashion trend were usually common. In other words, you could buy a dress or a piece of jewellery and see the exact type of it with another person on the same day you bought it. Other times, you might even see that hearing or whatever you bought with more than seven women in one day. I have never seen my earrings with anybody in my life. And when I was growing up in Nicholas's castle, I was usually told him that my earrings were very valuable. There were occasions when I nearly lost them to thieves. During the times of my financial hardship, it never occurred to me to sell my earrings for food because they were the only items I

You don't know anything that is going on in this castle, especially the political aspect.” My shoulders fell in disappointment as I slowly turned my head to look at Djurek. He was dressed regally which meant that he had not been home ever since I left his chambers, with his hair glittering and sparkling. “I and Alison's parents have made a truth to assist ourselves in achieving our goals.” The gods made their way as they arrived at the scene, while Alison went to throw her arms around his neck. “It is true that the Darnish rebelled against me and joined forces with my enemy, but they are still very much important to my pack and the growth of my coast.” He leaned in towards me, his eyes mirroring the tension and uncertainty in the atmosphere. “The Darnish are going to help me look for the unknown Queen. Aurelia's POV After I had read this last sentence, I stopped for a second and tried to see if it was Luna Gladys who wrote it. But then it wasn't; the old papyrus was proof, as well as the comprehensive and fluid writing that Gladys’s letter had. I took a deep breath and continued reading. “I am writing this with my last strength and I will make sure I get this box and the remaining items to who will bring the truth to light. Because I have done this good deed, the moon goddess will forgive every one of my shortcomings and grant me a place in paradise. This lady told me her name was not Annette, but because the owner of the care home where I worked believed the person who brought her, I decided to forget her real name and just call her Annette. Annette was unusual, but she was of striking beauty, dark air, olive green eyes, and very beautiful skin. She talked about having powers and being someone who was troubled by her soul. I did not understand what she meant at all, but I

Aurelia's POV “You haven't answered my question yet Aurelia. Why exactly are you doing this?” I started scooping the ornaments in the chest into my hand; my heart started tightening at the thought of the loss of the earrings. I was happy that bastard, Dante did not remove it from my ears when I was still with him. But I had made a greater mistake, neglecting it all this while and believing Djurek’s words that they were in this box. For goodness sake, the earrings were too small to be located in this river of ornaments. What had I been thinking? “What you are doing right now is treason and I might as well have you hanged for it.” Those words slapped me out of my trance, but before I could turn to look at the face of the utterer, Djurek suddenly grabbed me by the shoulders and dragged me to my feet, turning me to face him squarely. “What right do you think you can leave without my permission?” He growled, the minty scent of his breath washing over my face and the tingling of m

Aurelia's POV I woke up in bed, naked and sticky from sweat with the heat from the entangled bed sheets coursing through me. Slowly, my eyeballs floated open as the rays of the morning sun penetrated the window to land on my face, giving a warm feeling in contrast to the cold of the early morning. I opened my mouth and let out a long yawn, but the sheet fell off my body, revealing my bare chest. I let out a gasp as I hurriedly covered my breasts with my hands but then it was not what I had expected it to be or had thought it would be. I looked to my side awkwardly open to meet Djurek's naked body sprawled out beside mine, but the bed wasn't touched. The sheets were in proper place, except for a few creases and ruffled ends. Djurek didn't sleep in this room last night. He didn't touch me. We just had an intimate moment where he kissed my lips and ran his hands over my body, but he didn't do more than that. For some reason, this made me feel somewhat embarrassed and stupid. I
