Eight : Hear Tears

"How's the new pack members doing?"

I've been talking with Charles over the phone for good two hours, he's giving me a report about the former Crescent Moon pack.

"They're doing good, Alpha. Doing better since you left. We send the children to teenage back to school like you wanted and this weekend, we're going to start training the pups that are ready to be a warriors, fighters and trackers. Today, we're collecting the list of their names and if where they are best in to. Alpha Sam is always here to monitor the activity." He informed.

"Any problem? Fax me a detailed report. And keep in touch, if anythings happen, give me a call right away."

"Yes, Alpha."

"And one mor--" I was cut when Dalton showed up on my door frame. "Wait a second, don't hung up." I said over the line and put my phone down and face Dalton completely.

"Am I interrupting something?" He asked, his arms cross over his chest.

"My gamma just giving me report, Do you need something?"

"I was thinking if you want to come with me in the training field? I bet you are bored, you've been here like four days ago and all you do is staying in your room, chatting with your pack members, either over the phone or online. Rose is out with Xander and Charisha, she's still in school. I thought you need company?"

I think for a good minute before asking. "Can I join the training?"

He chuckle. "Sure."

"One second." I put my phone back to my ear.

"Charles, keep giving me report quarterly of the day." I ordered and hung up not waiting for his response. I walk toward Dalton and give him a smile.

"Let's go?"

"Ladies first?" He grinned, he step aside and let me through out the door. I grinned at him and rolled my eyes.

We walked downstairs and into the backdoor, we walked passed by the kitchen just in time to see Calix and Athena's sweet moment. I didn't bother to hid my scent today, why? He's busy for him to notice me. As we walked inside the kitchen to the back door, his eyed met mine. In my surprise, he never leave mine. Athena's gaze turn to Dalton and I, she gave me a smile and I returned on her on my own. Dalton gave them a nod. Looking at Calix, his stare never leave me when Athena noticed it, she cup his face and kiss his lips, I pulled my eyes away from them and walk out of the room. My wolf's locking herself behind my mind, I can't do anything to comfort her for I, myself is hurting too. My heart's breaking every minute, seeing them with the sweet moments not helping me but worsening me.

Dalton didn't say anything which I was thankful off. I didn't want to talk. We reached the training ground which I never noticed.

It was full of wolves, fighting each other, pair by pair and by group. Dalton lift his hand, getting their attention, and they all stop, looking at us.

"You all know about the new appointed Alpha of Midnight Howler pack is here with us for the past four days and we are all honored by her presence being here." He stated, I keep my face blank, and Intimidating, straighten my back and look at them with my Alpha aura. Dalton continue "I would like five of all the strongest fighters to step forward." I cocked my brow but didn't say anything when five wolves step forward. The others step back giving them a large space.

Maybe Dalton wants them to show me some fighting skills. I muttered to myself.

"This beautiful girl in my side --" I rolled my eyes at the term he used to introduced me. "She is the new Alpha of Midnight Howler pack, you maybe already heard about Midnight Howler pack's Alpha used to claim and did succeed the Crescent Moon pack not using to shed more blood. She did it pretty amazing isn't?" He said sounding proud. I once again rolled my eyes. The wolves are standing still, some are in shock, others in awe and others are somewhat confused. I stood my ground and stand still.

"This five wolves in front of us will be given a chance on fighting her, Alpha Cailly herself." He announced. I look at him in shock and so the others.

"Are you serious?" I asked, my eyes wide, and still processing what he just said. He gives me a curt smile and nod. "I am."

He looks at the crowd. "Move more step back." He ordered and they obeyed. I sigh heavily. "I guess I don't have much of a choice, right?" I muttered.

"Right." He grinned. I walk down and stalk towards the five wolves. Their faces flash with awe and honored. They lowered their head as sign of their respect to me. I gave them a short nod.

"How do you want this to happen? Are we doing it in human form or wolf form? One by one or group?" I asked Dalton without facing him.

"Human form will do. What do you prefer, one on one or them in a group while you are alone?"

"Either of the two, I won't mind." I said in nonchalant. I saw Earl running towards us.

"Alpha!" He yelled.

"Earl" I nod at him

"What's happening here?"

"I just want to let out some steam. It's been awhile though."

"But--"

"Stay. We are going to start."

"Yes, Alpha." He bowed his head, submissive.

"Shall we?" I look at the wolves, they are manly huge, in my 5'10" height, I feel small for them being in a scale of 6'2" to 6'9" height but I didn't feel anything pressure on it.

"Our pleasure, Alpha Cailly." They said in unison.

"You can do the first move." I announced and they we're all taken aback. I tilted my head on the said. "Now." And on cue, one man lunge at me. I dodge him by stepping on his side and hit his nape hard, making him fall on the ground, unconscious.

They we're all shock. I smirked.

"That was fast." Dalton smirked. He raised his two finger and then two wolves jump on me, pinning me on the ground.

"Dirty." I spat at Dalton, he gives me a wide grinned. I rolled my eyes at him.

Lifting my back, placing my feet, flat on the ground and push the two wolves holding me. I closed my fist in a tight ball and hit the one in my left in his jaw, making him stumble and give a blow on the man on my right by kicking his abdomen area. He winced in pain and clutch his stomach as he falls on the ground. The man in my left attacked again by grabbing my shoulders ready to throw me aside but in my fast reflexes, I flipped him away and throw him miles away from us. He hit a tree, he whimpered and falls down on the ground, whimpering. I sent Dalton a smirked, his eyes shows proud and smiles in amazement. The two remaining wolves ran towards me, meeting them on their way, I jump in the air, making myself invincible for good ten seconds and I am standing behind them without them knowing. I grab their shirt and bumped their head together. They stumbled away and falls on the ground holding their heads. I mumble a "Sorry" and make my way back to Dalton, I was surprised to see Calix standing beside him. I gasps hardly.

My scent. He might caught my scent! When I am in a battle field, I can't hid my scent because my focus stay in the fight. I spank my head mentally but stay normal as much as I can.

"Satisfied?" I asked Dalton.

"More than." He grinned. I nod and walk away from them. I walk inside the woods and shift in my wolf form. My white silvery fur and black paws shows. I heard the wolves say. "Beautiful" then a growled emit in the air. I don't need to know who growled. Calix.

I ran in my wolf form as fast as I can. I fill my lungs with the fresh air.

I sniffed in the air to catch the smell of water. I followed the trail of it's scent. I came to a halt when I saw the scenery. It was beautiful, the sunset in view, a green grass and a small lake and a small stream. A flash of memories come in me.

~~Flashback~~

"Calix!" I shouted, looking around me.

Calix and I playing hide and seek in the middle of the woods. This day, the day I have to go back to my pack, my parents are inside the pack house with Calix parents.

I heard a snap of a twig, I turn to see the direction to see no one.

"Calix! Your cheating!" I whine, pouting. "You are using your wolfy!" I yelled frustrated.

No response.

I walked and walked and there I saw a beautiful green place. It's breath-taking. Tall trees around it, the sunset is playing with red and orange shed in the sky, the clear water. It was awesome.

Calix appeared in my side but I ignore him and absorbing the beautiful place. It's so peaceful, very calming.

"Wow! This place is so beautiful." Calix said sounding awe. I nod my head in agreement

We both settled near the water bank and remain silent when Calix decided to broke the peaceful silence.

"You are really leaving. I thought you are just joking yesterday." He said in low voice, sad. I turn to see his eyed swelling with tears. I punch his shoulder lightly.

"You know I promise to come back." I said trying to lighten the mood.

He gave me a small smile. "When I came back, you have to take me here again." I said in cheerful voice.

He smiles. "This will be our sanctuary, only us will know about this place." He said, promising. I smile widely at him.

"That was cool! I'll come back next vacation!" I squealed making him laugh.

Our small voice laughing around filling the air.

I was 10 and he's 15 and he has his wolf while I still don't. Frowning at the thought.

Our laughter died down and we both silent.

"Promise me, you'll wait for me okay? So we can play again?" I said smiling at him.

"I am older that time, I have to train for the Alpha position." I pouted. "But we can still play." He assured. I smile widely and give him a bear hug.

"Promise me!"

"I promise. Ai. I will wait for you." Calix lift his right hand. "Pinky promise." I laced my pinky in his. " pinky promise." I kiss his lips lightly and run towards the pack house.

"That was our chance to have him with us, Eyl." My wolf said, cutting me in my memories.

"No. That's the biggest mistake I've done." I stated, firm

"What? Letting him now that we are his mate?" She spat angrily.

"Yes."

"He's my mate!" She yelled.

"Our mate." I corrected. "I know that. But this could make this complicated when it is already complicated, Al."

"How?"

"He's getting married. And he is happy with Athena. I know you know that. And you want him to be happy too."

"How did you know?" She ask sounding in pain.

"When the moment we saw him kissing Athena, when he confessed how much he like to spend his life with her, you didn't do anything. You didn't claim him, you didn't even complain when I hid my scent from him."

She became silent before she speak again. "I want him to be happy." That's all she said and she locked herself at the back of my mind. I let out a shaky breath and wipes away the tears that it flows.

"Hey." I was cut in my thought when I heard him, I don't have to turn if who he was. Calix.

I didn't say anything. I don't need to hid my scent. He take a seat beside me but enough space between us. I thank him for giving me space.

"You found this place again. I used to be here when I was still young."

I remained silent.

"You promise to come back in Christmas vacation, I waited for you." He said, sad. I look at him, his face, his eyes are longing. I move a little so we are side to side. He smile at me.

"I didn't know what happened, I just had the chance to know your reason why you left and never came back. I hated myself for not rescuing you when you got attacked ten years ago. I have my wolf but I didn't do anything to save you, to help you. I went in your pack with my parents when we heard about what happened. You were in shock that time. I hated to see you crying, so fragile. And I left. The next day I came back for you, you are gone. Sam told me that your uncle in Los Angeles came and take you to be your guardian while Sam is going to be the Alpha. I was so young that time and not an Alpha yet, I can't do anything. I'm sorry." He said his voice in pain. He turn to me and wipes away my tears. I never knew it flowing. When his palm met in my cheek, a shiver sent in my spine, the spark sending goosebumps in my skin.

"It's alright. It's not your fault." I gave him a weak smile. "What happened before is over. I move on. I am fine now." I said to him but he shook his head.

"I should be there for you, to save you and your parents." He said firmly.

"The day you arrive here, I caught your scent, it's so amazing and addicting. It's sweet and minty and a mixture of apple and strawberry but it vanished. When I saw you with my father, You caught my full attention. You we're the most gorgeous woman I'd ever seen. I can't take my eyes of you." I blushed at his word. I look away from him to hid my blush.

"Do you know that when you blush, your scent get stronger? It's so addicting and so inviting." He teased. I rolled my eyes at him.

"I don't know why you are avoiding me, now I know." Nodding his head when realization hit him.

"You're getting married. I don't want to interfere, I don't want to ruin your happiness." I stated, feeling a pang of pain in my chest, my wolf is quiet inside my head.

"Athena, I met her few months ago, She was a rogue, she trespass my pack and they take her to me. When I first saw her, I feel a pull, I thought she's my mate but she's not. But everyday I spent the day with her, I started to love her."

My heart broke into million pieces. Aleck is whimpering in my head. I stay quiet, not moving in my place.

"But when I saw --"

"I have to go. Bye Calix." I cut him, I don't want to hear anything from him again. I was hurting so much and I can't take it anymore. I ran into the woods to the pack house to my room. I packed my things and left a note for Dalton, Rose and Earl.

I take a shower and composing myself. I am stronger than any other girl, I won't let them know I am leaving to night.

I walked downstairs to have my one last dinner with them. I put a smile that I am practicing earlier and went inside.

I saw them seating, eating and talking. I seat beside Charisha and pinch her nose lightly. She pouted. I chuckle.

Calix is taking a glance in me whenever he got a chance, beside him is Athena. Smiling lovingly at him. I pulled away and bid my goodnight. I hug Charisha, While the others gave me a nod. Calix stood up in his chair.

"Ai." He called out, I stop talking with Rose and turn to see him standing beside me.

I hug him a bear hug, the hug I used to do when we were still young. He was shock in my action.

A spark of electricity is running in my whole body, the contentment and calmness. Love and care. I pulled away.

"Good night Ai. Ai." I called him using the nick name we gave each other.

I marched upstairs to my room without waiting for his response. That was the first time I hug him. And it will be the last.
