I watch him begin to walk away with a resignation that shocks me. Everything he said makes perfect sense. There's really no point in trying to save Mona.

Griffin pauses for a second, then pivots to face me. "I'm sorry," he whispers, then quickly backs down the narrow stairs at the end of the hallway.
