Chapter 28

I shake my head no as I look at the dress in front of me.

"No way, I can never pull it off," I insist, but Sierra laughs.

"Oh, honey. Don't be silly. This dress is made for you!" she squeals and tosses it to me. "Go put it on!"

With a sigh, I reluctantly hold it in front of me. It is made of a shimmery, midnight blue fabric that feels cool to the touch. I look up at Sierra skeptically.

"Where will I ever wear something like this? I am a maid," I say. Sierra laughs again, her eyes twinkling.

"You will find a place. Now put it on now before I do it for you," she threatens me.

I hesitate for a moment, feeling my cheeks flush. I remember being at my parents' house, wearing things like this on special occasions. But that is in the past and I thought I'd never get to wear anything other than a maid's inform anymore.
