It's been a month since my pregnancy, and it hasn't been easy for me. My morning sickness was getting worse by the day. Today, I'm feeling better, tomorrow, I feel like I'm about to pass out.
Good thing Luna gives me enough rest. I wonder how it would have been if I had been pregnant with someone else's child while feeling this way. I'd probably be dead because there's no way Luna Roxanne would let me have the child.
Before going out that morning, I stared at myself in the mirror. Though I don't look pregnant yet. Maybe because I'm still very early in pregnancy, but the morning sickness was terrible. I placed my hand on my still flat stomach. I smiled at myself in the mirror. I can't believe a child is in my stomach, and it's the Alpha's.
For a moment, I forgot myself and began to feel myself. I imagined being in front of Cannon while he placed his hand on my stomach with a loving gaze.
“Thank you for carrying my child, Clair,” the moment he said the words, I snapped out of my wild imagination and jolted backwards. What the hell is wrong with me?
This is the most abominable thing I've ever thought of.
Quickly, I walked away from the mirror and prepared for morning chores. Even though I don't do much out there, I still reported to duties, this way there wouldn't be tongues wagging about the fact that I'm not doing my job.
As soon as I arrived in the kitchen, I saw everyone preparing more dishes. I was perplexed when I saw the dishes. I couldn't help but approach one of the cooks.
“Mrs. Trina, why are there more dishes today?”
“Huh? You are Luna's personal maid, don't tell me you don't know Luna's dad and some members of your former pack are here?”
“What?” I muttered, wide-eyed. I was totally unaware.
I quickly joined in the procession and served food. When we were done serving, I stood next to Luna like I always did while she eats breakfast with the Alpha. This time, the breakfast table had more guests. Both familiar and unfamiliar faces.
During breakfast, I noticed Alpha Cannon staring in my direction occasionally, but Luna Roxanne would smile at him, thinking he was staring at her, since I was standing right next to her.
The whole situation made me feel terrible, plus the fact that the baked pancakes somehow smelled differently to my nostrils. This is the normal pancake which is served at breakfast according to the breakfast menu. Why does it smell funny today?
“Love, I think our child loves pancakes, I literally crave pancakes currently,” Luna Roxanne said in delight. What the hell? The Alpha's child loves pancakes? Here I am feeling under the weather, all because of the same pancakes. This is misleading. I bet he hates pancakes!
Goddess help me! I hope I don't feel the need to throw up right here.
“Clair, it's so good to see you again. You have no idea how much I've missed you.”

Everyone at the table turned their gazes towards me.
“Clair, you're here. We almost didn't recognize you,” Alpha Ramon said with a broad smile. I bowed in greetings, but didn't say a word. Alpha Ramon is the father of Roxanne, and he's the one who actually picked me up from my former pack, which was ravaged by a terrible battle. I have been trained by him since I was 10 years old, so everyone in my former pack knows me so well.
“Clair, don't tell me you never missed me,” everyone at the table instantly went quiet, taking their gazes up at Daniel.
“Uhm, I mean our pack.”
“Why would she miss our pack? She's here working with me, Daniel. Can you please get rid of that little childhood crush you have for my maid? You should be preparing to get married to the youngest daughter of Alpha Drake, not a maid.”
Luna Roxanne stated in a commanding tone.
Since she was the eldest, everyone listened to her and heaved a long deep sigh.
I took my gaze sharply to Alpha Cannon. For some reason, I noticed he was holding the spoon in his hands way too strongly, or could it be just my imagination?
I took my gaze away and rather focused on everyone's plate, ready to serve them Just in case they needed more.
Suddenly, the smell of the pancakes wafted through my nostrils so badly that the urge to throw up became so intense. Immediately, I placed my hand on my mouth.
Since Roxanne was so close to me, she noticed what's happening. I need to get out of there as soon as possible.
“Clair, are you okay? You look so pale,” Daniel uttered, bringing everyone's gaze my way. Oh, no! Oh, no!
"Ouch!” Luna Roxanne exclaimed at the same.”
“Luna, are you okay?” Alpha Cannon asked wide-eyed. I could see worry in his eyes for Luna Roxanne. I should be the one he's asking because I'm the one pregnant.
“I feel a little dizzy,” Luna announced.
“Huh? Do you need to have some rest? Is it the food?” Cannon asked all at once, standing up.
Just then, she grabbed my arm.
“Clair, escort me to my room,” she stated while signaling for me to take the lead. Immediately, I walked ahead of her.
“Luna, don't you need me to escort you?”
“Oh no, my love. I need a woman by my side at this moment. Clair will do it.”
I didn't turn around but slowly walked ahead of Luna Roxanne.
As soon as we got out of the room, Roxanne walked over to me instantly.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Are you so dumb that you don't know when not to show up?” She lashed out at me.
“I'm sorry, Luna. I only wanted to report for duty and be by your side when you need my help.”
“Well, with what you did back there, did it seem like you helped me? You almost ruined my plans!”
“I'm so sorry, I promise it won't happen again.”
“Listen, from now on, I don't want you to show up whenever I'm having breakfast with the Alpha, do you understand?”
“Noted, Luna.”
“Now go back to your room and take good care of my child. I'll send someone to you later.”
