When I saw my mom, I beamed and rushed over to wrap her in a tight hug, feeling a wave of comfort and warmth wash over me. 

"I’ve missed you so much, Mom," I told her, holding on just a bit longer before pulling back to look at her. She smiled softly, her eyes filled with the same gentle love I had always known. 

She had brought me a large basket filled with goodies—mangoes, oranges, plump strawberries, cartons of Greek yogurt, and my favorite brand of organic granola from Nature’s Path. 

There were also packets of prenatal vitamins and a few jars of almond butter.

She had always been quiet and subdued ever since my dad passed away. They were fated mates. Before his death, she had been so lively, full of energy and laughter. I had memories of her chatting animatedly with my dad. Her laughter would fill the house.
