"You're staring at me."

Elena’s voice was still thick with sleep, her eyes barely open as she peeked up at Asher. He was propped on his elbow, watching her with an expression she couldn’t quite name.

He smirked. "Guilty. But can you blame me?"

Elena rolled onto her back, blinking at the ceiling. For the first time in a long time, waking up didn’t feel… heavy. There was no crushing weight of loneliness. No dread curling in her stomach.

There was warmth. Security.

Belonging.

She turned her head to find Asher still watching her, his golden eyes softer than usual. “What?” she asked, feeling heat creep up her neck.

His hand lifted, fingertips brushing along the fresh mark on her neck. The spot tingled, warmth spreading through her veins at the gentle contact.

"It suits you," he murmured.

Elena bit her lip. His mark.

She had spent so long feeling unwanted. Like a burden. Like someone who had to prove she was worthy of love.

But Asher had never made her feel that way.

Elena glanced up from the small pile of clothes she was folding, meeting Asher’s concerned gaze. He stood in the doorway, arms crossed over his chest, golden eyes studying her carefully. "I already said yes, didn’t I?" she teased, offering him a small smile. Asher exhaled, running a hand through his dark hair. "I just want you to be comfortable, Elena. Moving in together is a big step. I don’t want you to feel pressured." Elena’s fingers stilled over the fabric in her hands. "I know." And she did. Asher had never once forced her into anything. If anything, he was more hesitant than she was sometimes, always afraid of scaring her, of pushing too hard. "It’s just… a lot," she admitted, glancing around her room. "I’ve been in this space for so long. I never really let myself imagine leaving it." Asher stepped forward, crouching in front of her. "I get it. This place was your refuge. Your safe space." Elena nodded. "But," he continued, his voice soft, "you don’t have to do

“That’s not fair!” Elena exclaimed, her voice cracking. “You can’t just tell me who I can and can’t talk to.”“I’m not trying to,” Asher said, his voice softening slightly. “But he…he complicates things.”“Complicates things?” Elena repeated, her voice laced with confusion. “How?”Asher hesitated, his gaze shifting away. “Just…trust me, Elena. It’s better this way.”“Better for who?” Elena asked, her voice barely a whisper. “Better for you?”Asher’s eyes flickered back to hers, a flicker of something she couldn’t quite decipher. “Better for us. For both of us.”“I don’t understand,” Elena said, her voice filled with confusion. “Why are you doing this?”“I just want to protect you,” Asher said, his voice low and intense. “From him.”“Protect me?” Elena scoffed, a bitter laugh escaping her lips. “You’re scaring me more than anyone else right now.”Asher stepped closer, his hand reaching out to her. “Elena, please…”Elena flinched away, her eyes wide with fear. “Don’t touch me.”Asher’s

"Are you sure you want to keep the desk?" Asher asked, his voice laced with amusement as he set another box down inside the house. Elena huffed, wiping a stray strand of hair from her face. "Yes, I’m sure. It’s important to me." Asher shot her a teasing smirk. "I just don’t see why you need it when we already have a desk here." Elena crossed her arms, feigning offense. "Because it’s mine. I’ve had it for years, and I’m not leaving it behind just because you think it’s unnecessary." He chuckled, reaching over to poke her side. "Fine, fine. We’ll bring it over tomorrow. But I’m officially declaring that you’re a desk hoarder." She laughed despite herself, nudging him playfully. "I am not a hoarder. I just—" She hesitated, glancing down. "I just don’t want to leave everything behind all at once." Asher’s teasing faded, his expression softening. He stepped closer, tilting her chin up. "You don’t have to, Elena. You can take as much time as you need." His gentle reassurance m

"You’re still half-asleep, aren’t you?"Elena groaned, rubbing her eyes as she blinked up at Asher. The sunlight filtering through the curtains cast a soft glow on his bare chest, and it took her a moment to process what he was holding—a tray with what appeared to be breakfast."I—what is this?" she asked, sitting up, her voice thick with sleep.Asher shifted uncomfortably, clearing his throat. "It’s… food. Well, kind of. I attempted breakfast."Elena bit back a laugh, glancing down at the plate. There was a slightly burnt omelet, some unevenly buttered toast, and what she suspected was supposed to be coffee but looked questionably dark."You attempted breakfast?" she echoed, arching a brow.He exhaled, plopping down beside her. "Look, I don’t usually do this, okay? Cooking isn’t my thing. But I figured, since it’s our first morning together, I should… try." He ran a hand through his hair, suddenly looking a little nervous. "It’s probably terrible, but it’s the thought that counts, ri

After breakfast, they lounged in bed, their hands idly playing with each other’s. Elena would intertwine their fingers, only to pull away, grinning as Asher tried to catch her hand again. "You’re being a tease," he muttered. She smirked. "I don’t know what you’re talking about." Asher gave her a mock glare before snatching her hand and lacing their fingers together. "Got you." Elena laughed, squeezing his hand. "Fine. I’ll stop messing with you." "Good." He paused, then added, "Tell me more about yourself." She tilted her head. "Like what?" "Anything. I want to know more of the little things." Elena thought for a moment. "I love strawberries." Asher hummed. "Good choice." "I also love drawing." "Really?" He looked intrigued. "I didn’t know that." She nodded. "It’s always been an escape for me. I used to sketch a lot when I was younger." Asher smiled. "You should show me sometime." Elena hesitated but nodded. "Maybe." "Anything else?" "Asher?" Elena’s voice was soft, hesitant, but the moment his name left her lips, she saw it—the way his body stiffened, the way his hand clenched against the sheets. She knew this reaction wasn’t just about her question. It was about them. Her past. Her tormentors. And whatever Asher had done to them. He didn’t answer. Not right away. Instead, he moved closer, pressing a slow, deliberate kiss to the mark on her neck. A shiver ran through her, not just from the sensation but from the meaning behind it. It was possessive. Soothing. A reminder of what they were—of the bond they now shared. She knew he was grounding himself in it, using it to hold back the storm inside him. Still, she couldn’t ignore the way his hands trembled slightly as they rested on her waist. "Asher," she whispered again, this time reaching up to cup his face. Golden eyes met hers, and for a moment, all she saw was raw, unfiltered emotion—rage, protectiveness, something darker lurking

His fingers flexed against her waist, but he didn’t speak. She swallowed hard. "I need to know who I’m looking at right now, Asher." His jaw clenched. "You’re looking at the same man who would do it all over again if it meant keeping you safe." She searched his face, her heart pounding. "You’re scaring me." His grip on her softened instantly. "Elena—" "It’s not just what you did," she cut in. "It’s how much you’re holding back. It’s the way you won’t tell me everything. It’s the way you—" She sucked in a shaky breath. "It’s the way you looked at me just now. Like you weren’t sure if you should tell me the truth." His throat worked as he swallowed. "I didn’t want you to see me like that." "Like what?" His voice was barely a whisper. "Like a monster." Her breath caught. "You’re not a monster," she said, but there was a crack in her voice, and she hated that he heard it. His expression twisted, something pained flashing through his eyes. "Aren’t I?" She shook her

Asher’s Uncontrollable Fury His body tensed, muscles rippling beneath his skin as a growl rumbled deep in his chest. The warmth in his golden eyes flickered, replaced by something darker. "No." Elena barely had time to react before he was on his feet, pacing, fists clenched at his sides. "They don’t deserve to see you." His voice was sharp, final. "They don’t get to witness how strong you’ve become." His breathing turned ragged, and Elena realized— He wasn’t just angry. He was spiraling. "Asher—" "No!" His voice rose, filled with barely restrained fury. "You don’t need to see them, Elena. They’re nothing. Nothing!" She had never seen him like this before. His anger had always been controlled, calculated. But this— This was something else. It wasn’t just about her anymore. It was consuming him. Elena stepped forward cautiously. "Asher, look at me." He didn’t. Didn’t stop pacing. Didn’t stop seething. Her heart ached. She had only wanted closur

“I’ve missed three council sessions, delayed the joint patrol drills, and put off signing the land expansion request forms for two weeks.”Grayson raised an eyebrow. “Should I keep going?”“No.” Asher met his eyes. “I know. I’ve been off my game.”Grayson softened. “You’ve been in love.”The admission settled between them like a dropped stone in still water.Asher didn’t deny it.“I wasn’t expecting it to hit this hard,” he admitted, voice low. “It’s like... I breathe easier around her. Everything feels sharper when she’s near—and dull when she’s not.”Grayson’s expression was unreadable for a moment, then he sighed and set the map down. “Look, I get it. The bond’s intense. I felt it when I met my mate, too. You want to spend every moment with her. You should. But you’re still Alpha.”“I know.” The words were heavy. “I know, Gray.”Grayson folded his arms. “We’ve got more than just treaties to worry about. There’s something else.”Asher’s attention snapped up.“The Crest Moon Pack.”A

God, he wanted to say yes. Yes, so she’d be beside him. Yes, so she could sit in that hall and make the men who doubted her presence shut their mouths the moment she raised her head. But he couldn’t. Not yet.He turned to her, grinning despite the ache in his chest. “Absolutely not.”Her eyebrows arched. “Why not?”“Because you’d distract me.” He nipped playfully at her bottom lip. “Every time I look at you, I forget what I’m saying. I’ll end up calling an elder by your name or proposing legislation about how everyone should smell like strawberries.”She burst into laughter, swatting him lightly. “You’re ridiculous.”“And you’re irresistible,” he said, before catching her lips in a kiss.It was supposed to be brief—a tease, a laugh—but the moment their mouths touched, the atmosphere shifted. Like a match dropped in dry grass. His hand slid behind her neck, angling her closer. Her fingers curled into his hair. The air thickened. Her body melted into his. His lips pressed more urgently.

She blinked, her throat thick. “It’s just… hard. Knowing I wasn’t your first.”“You were,” he said, lifting her chin. “In every way that counts. You were the first time I ever made love. Not just sex. Love. The first time I ever looked at someone and thought, ‘I’d do anything to make you feel safe.’”Her eyes welled with tears. He wiped one away with his thumb. “You’re the first person I’ve ever wanted to remember every second with. Every sound you made, every look, every touch—it’s burned into me.”She turned into his chest, heart thudding.“And you’re the first,” he continued, voice cracking slightly, “who made me believe I deserved to be loved back.”Her arms tightened around him.“I hate that I wasn’t your only,” she whispered. “But I’m trying not to let that poison what we have.”He kissed the top of her head. “You don’t have to pretend it doesn’t bother you. Her throat tightened, heart clenching. How could he say things like that? How could he look at her like she was made of starlight and not scar tissue? She turned into his chest, hiding her face. “You’re too good to be real.”He chuckled softly, wrapping her in his arms. “I was just thinking the same thing about you.”They lay in silence for a while. Her head rested over his heartbeat, steady and grounding. His fingers traced patterns along her back, the rhythm soothing.“You surprised me,” she said finally, voice muffled against his skin.“How so?”“You… you were so gentle. So patient. And... you knew exactly what to do.” She tilted her head up, studying his face. “Have you… done this before?”He paused. “Yes. I won’t lie to you.”That made her chest ache a little—but only for a second.“Then why did this feel so… different?”He cupped her cheek, tilting her face up to his. “Because you’re not just anyone. Her body still trembled with the aftershocks of their union, skin slick with sweat, heart pounding beneath Asher’s hand as it rested lightly over her chest. She wasn’t ready for what came next. Not because she didn’t want it—but because it was the kind of worship she’d never known, the kind that stripped her bare in ways that had nothing to do with skin.“Elena,” Asher whispered, voice low, reverent. He was still hovering above her, their breaths mingling in the quiet space between them. “I’m not done loving you.”She blinked, flushed already from what they’d shared, but his words sent a new wave of warmth crashing through her. “Y-you don’t have to—”“I want to.” His lips ghosted along her collarbone, tracing a line downward. “This is for you. Just you.”Her stomach flipped as his mouth moved lower, trailing heat down her torso, over her navel. Each kiss was deliberate, slow, and full of purpose—as though every part of her deserved to be cherished. Worshipped. He paused just below her

“You keep looking at me like that,” Asher growled against her ear, voice ragged, breath warm. “You’re going to make me lose control.”“I’m not doing anything,” Elena whispered back, wide-eyed, cheeks flushed.“You know exactly what you’re doing.” His eyes darkened, gaze roaming her face like he was memorizing every inch. “And I’ve been holding back for far too long.”“Asher…”That was all it took.In one fluid movement, his arms scooped beneath her thighs and back, lifting her off the ground. She gasped, clutching his shoulders, heart thudding in her chest.“You don’t play fair,” he murmured, lips grazing her temple. “And I can’t pretend anymore.”The hallway blurred around them, lit only by the soft gold hue of the lamps. With each step, anticipation coiled tighter inside her. She wasn’t sure what was going to happen. Her mind buzzed with nerves, her chest tight with the unknown. But even in that whirlwind of emotion, one thing grounded her.She trusted him.Completely.When they rea

His eyes snapped open, dark and wide. “What?”She swallowed hard, nerves and courage colliding in her chest like a storm. “Don’t hold back.”His entire body froze. He searched her face as though waiting for her to pull the words back, but she didn’t. Instead, she leaned forward and kissed him, softly—no urgency, no pressure. Just trust.“I’m not afraid,” she breathed against his lips. “Not with you.”Asher exhaled sharply, a broken sound that almost resembled a sob. “Elena, I need you to be sure. I need to hear you say it.”“I want you,” she said, voice shaking but sincere. “Because I love you, Asher.”That was all it took.He surged forward, capturing her mouth in a kiss that sent a thrill down her spine. She wanted to look away. Her instincts screamed for it.But she didn’t.She held his gaze. And in that moment, it wasn’t about naked skin or physical closeness. It was about truth.About letting herself be loved as she was.She leaned up and kissed him—soft, slow, full of everything she didn’t yet know how to say aloud. When they pulled apart, Asher tucked a damp strand of hair behind her ear and asked, “May I wash your hair?”Her eyes widened slightly at the question. It was so… gentle. So caring. She nodded. He reached for the bottle, poured a small amount into his hands, and lathered it between his palms before delicately working his fingers into her scalp.Elena shivered. Not because she was cold. But because the intimacy of the moment overwhelmed her in the most beautiful way.Asher’s fingers were magic—skimming through her hair with deliberate slowness, massaging her scalp as if worshipping every inch of her.Her eyes fluttered shut.“Still with me?” he asked softly.“Mmm,” she
