"You mean a lot to me too," she admitted, her voice soft, uncertain.

He let out a shaky breath, relief flashing in his eyes. "Then tell me how to fix this. Tell me how to make it up to you."

She wanted to tell him that he had already done enough—that just hearing him say these things was more than she ever thought she’d get. But she also knew that words weren’t always enough. She needed actions. She needed proof that he wouldn’t walk away again.

"Stay," she said finally. "Just... stay."

His hands trailed down to hers, fingers intertwining. "I’m not going anywhere."

For the first time in what felt like forever, she felt seen. She wasn’t just some useless, fragile girl. He truly cared—about her, about how she felt. And that alone made her heart ache. Why did he care so much? Why did it matter to him?

The thought of it was overwhelming.

"Elena," he pressed, his voice lower, rougher now. "Did someone hurt you while I was gone?"

A growl rumbled from deep within his chest as h

Asher’s Past "Asher, come here." Kade’s deep voice echoed down the hallway. Something about his tone seemed off. Was he angry? Curious, Asher moved toward him. "Yes, Kad—" The words stuck in his throat. His feet stopped mid-step. Confusion clouded his mind. Kade, his cousin, who was ten years older than Asher’s eight-year-old self, stood there with his fist raised high. On the floor, a small girl trembled. One of her eyes was swollen, dark purple bruising the delicate skin. It looked painful, unbearably so. She whimpered softly, and Asher felt a heavy weight settle in his chest. Maybe they had been playing, and she fell? Maybe Kade wanted him to help her up? Asher took a step forward, reaching out—but before he could, Kade’s fist came down, striking the girl’s face. A sharp, piercing scream shattered the air. Asher froze, his eyes widening in horror. Blood trickled from the girl's lip, bright red against her pale skin. Footsteps suddenly echoed behind him, and just like tha

Killing them would bring satisfaction. But torture? That would be far more rewarding.“Alpha?” A guard stepped forward, his voice uncertain. “Do you need something?”Asher didn’t stop. He didn’t even look at him. “Open the cells.”The guard hesitated. “Alpha, are you sure? The prisoners—”“I didn’t ask for your opinion. Open the damn cells.”The guard swallowed hard but nodded. He hurried ahead, unlocking the heavy iron doors. The moment they creaked open, the stench of sweat and blood filled Asher’s lungs. It only fueled his rage.Inside, Connor and his men sat slumped against the cold walls, wrists bound, faces bruised and swollen from earlier beatings. Connor looked up, his split lip curling into a smirk.“Well, well. The mighty Alpha finally decided to visit.” His voice was hoarse, but laced with arrogance. “Did your little mate cry to you?”Asher moved so fast, Connor didn’t even have time to flinch. His hand wrapped around the bastard’s throat, lifting him effortlessly.“You thi

The chamber was one of the many places Asher used for interrogations. It was specifically designed to handle rogues who trespassed on his territory. The room had several hidden vents in the corners, which, when activated, released silver gas. The toxic fumes made any wolf inside weaker, forcing them to endure excruciating pain. Breathing it in felt like pure agony, stripping away their strength little by little. Moving onto the next prisoner, Emerson, Asher noticed he was already unconscious. That didn’t surprise him. Over time, he had observed that Emerson was far weaker than Harris. Without hesitation, he injected him with the sedative, stepping back as the drug took effect. "Put them in the chamber," he commanded, his voice sharp and unwavering. Only two remained—Nathan and Connor. These two were the ones Asher looked forward to dealing with the most. However, their suffering needed to be drawn out. They wouldn’t get the easy way out—not yet. Sticking each of them with the sy

"You talk in your sleep."Elena’s eyes snapped open. Her breath caught. For a moment, she was somewhere else.Somewhere dark.Somewhere cold. But then—Warmth. The steady rise and fall of a chest beneath her palm.A strong, steady heartbeat. The scent of pine and smoke. And the low, teasing voice that had just spoken.Asher.Her entire body went rigid.Slowly—too slowly—she lifted her head.Asher’s golden eyes were already on her, filled with something dangerously amused. His lips curled at the edges. "Morning, princess."Elena’s stomach flipped. Her pulse roared. She jerked back, her breath uneven as she processed where she was.Asher’s bed.Asher’s arms. And the lingering warmth of his body wrapped around her.Her heart pounded as memories of the night before flooded back. The way he held her.The way she let him.The way, for the first time in six years, she had fallen asleep without fear. Her throat tightened.Asher stretched lazily beside her, his arm still slung across her waist

Words Elena Hasn't Heard in Years The silence between them stretched. Elena shifted awkwardly. Her pulse was still racing. Asher exhaled through his nose, watching her. Then, his head tilted slightly. "Has anyone ever told you you’re beautiful?" Elena’s breath stopped. Her heart stuttered. The room blurred. A memory—soft, distant, aching. Her mother’s voice. "My beautiful girl." But that had been six years ago. No one had said it since. No one had even looked at her that way. And yet, Asher had said it so easily. Like it wasn’t foreign. Like it wasn’t a lie. Like it wasn’t a game. Her fingers curled into her palms. "Don’t say things you don’t mean." Asher frowned. "Why would I lie?" She didn’t know. She only knew that nothing good ever followed words like that. Because beauty meant attention. And attention meant pain. Asher studied her carefully. His voice softened. "Come with me today." Elena blinked. "What?" "To my pack work

The familiar scratch of pencil against paper was soothing. Line by line, she built her mother’s face—the curve of her cheek, the softness of her smile, the warmth in her eyes. For a moment, everything faded. The pain. The bruises. The doubts. All that remained was the quiet rhythm of shading and detail. Then— A scent. Pine and smoke. A presence. Warm and steady. A voice. "You didn’t answer the door." Elena jumped, nearly smudging the drawing as Asher’s voice broke through the silence. Her heart pounded. She turned to find him leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, watching her with an unreadable expression. His golden eyes flickered to the journal in her lap. "You draw?" Elena hesitated. She wasn’t used to people seeing this part of her. But Asher wasn’t just people. She nodded. He pushed off the doorframe, stepping closer. "Can I see?" Her throat tightened, but after a long pause, she tilted the journal slightly toward him. His

"You’re frowning," Asher’s deep voice broke through the silence.Elena startled slightly, looking up from the book in her hands. He wasn’t even looking at her.He was still at his desk, flipping through documents, one hand holding a pen, the other resting on the desk. Yet somehow, he’d still noticed."What?" she asked, feigning confusion.Asher finally glanced up. His sharp gaze settled on her with unnerving accuracy."You’re frowning," he repeated, tilting his head slightly. "Either you don’t like the book, or something else is on your mind."Elena swallowed, gripping Animal Farm tighter in her lap.It wasn’t the book. She loved this book.It was her thoughts. The ones that had been creeping in the moment she stepped into his office. The moment she realized how perfectly he fit in this world—his world. And how she… didn’t.Elena forced a small smile. "I’m fine."Asher didn’t look convinced. His eyes lingered on her for a moment longer, like he was debating whether to push. Then, fina

"You’re upset about a book?" Elena blinked, startled out of her thoughts. Asher’s voice held an edge of amusement, his lips curving into the faintest smirk as he leaned back in his chair. She hesitated, gripping Animal Farm tighter in her lap. "It’s… not just a book," she murmured. Asher raised a brow, waiting. Elena hesitated again. But something about his quiet patience made it easier to speak. "Boxer," she said finally. "He worked himself to death, believing in something that never truly cared about him." A flicker of something unreadable crossed Asher’s face. "And that upsets you?" Elena looked down at the worn pages, tracing a fingertip over the words. "He was good," she said softly. "And it didn’t matter." The room was quiet for a moment. Then Asher let out a low hum, shifting slightly in his chair. "Life isn’t always fair," he admitted. "But not everyone ends up like Boxer." Elena glanced up, surprised. His gaze was steady. "Some fight back." Her bre

The door creaked open again.Elena turned, expecting Genevieve or maybe Dawn—but it wasn’t either. It was Asher. And he froze in the doorway.Time, breath, and sound—all of it stilled. He didn’t move.Didn’t speak.Just… stared. His eyes drank her in from head to toe. The white dress that floated around her like morning mist. The soft fall of her hair. The quiet strength in her posture. The way her lips curved just barely, nervous but glowing.“Elena,” he finally whispered, voice low and awestruck. Her heart stuttered. He stepped in slowly, reverently, like approaching something sacred. His gaze never left her face, as though he was afraid she’d vanish if he blinked.“Say something,” she breathed, voice barely above a whisper.“I would,” he said, his throat tight, “if I could remember how to speak.”That made her laugh, soft and breathy. He reached her then, his hands lifting but not yet touching—as if still trying to believe she was real. “You look like a dream I’ve had my whole life

Elena stood in front of the mirror, still and breathless. The ceremony was just hours away, but her stomach churned like she’d swallowed a storm. The room was quiet now. Genevieve had left to help with final touches. Dawn had skipped off with her flower crown. Even the hum of chatter downstairs felt far away.It was just her and the mirror. And fear. Her fingers trembled as she traced the edge of the white dress—soft chiffon with intricate embroidery along the neckline. The fabric hugged her lightly, flowing around her like mist. She should have felt like a vision.Instead, all she could see were memories pressing through the glass. The echoes of bruises that had once marred her skin. The hollow eyes she used to avoid in her reflection. The voice in her head that still whispered: You’re not enough. You never were. Her breath hitched. What if they see the truth beneath the silk? What if they see the scared girl still hiding under the skin of a Luna? She turned from the mirror, pressing

Elena stirred the next morning to the soft chirping of birds and the golden warmth pouring through the trees. Asher had wrapped himself around her during the night, their bodies curled together beneath a blanket of moss and dappled sunlight. For the first time in her life, she didn’t wake up flinching.Instead, she smiled.“Morning, Luna,” Asher whispered against her shoulder, his voice still thick with sleep. Her heart flipped. That title… it used to scare her. Now it sounded like a crown placed gently on her head, not one she had to earn by pain—but by love.Asher kissed her cheek before pulling himself up. “We should head back soon. Your ceremony's tonight.”Her breath caught. Nerves fluttered in her chest. Ceremony. People. Attention. Things she’d never felt comfortable with. And yet—she wanted it. For herself. For them.By the time they returned to the house, the buzz had already begun. Pack members moved in and out, carrying decorations, trays of food, and fabric-draped poles fo

"I think this is my favorite kind of silence," Elena whispered, her voice barely louder than the breeze.Asher turned his head slowly, his eyes glowing amber in the waning light. “The kind where we don’t have to say anything… but everything’s already understood?”She smiled faintly, eyes fixed on the sunset bleeding across the sky. “Exactly that.”The horizon was a watercolor of gold and soft lavender, bleeding into a dusky crimson that painted the clouds with fire. The lake mirrored it all—still, soft, endless. A hush had fallen over the world, as if nature itself paused to breathe beside them.“I used to hate sunsets,” Elena confessed, her fingers playing with a blade of grass. “They reminded me the day was over, and it meant going back into a night I couldn’t escape.”Asher’s brows furrowed, but he didn’t interrupt.“But now,” she continued, “I love them. Because I know what the night holds. You.”He reached for her hand gently, threading his fingers between hers. “The night belong

The forest began to thin, the trees spreading wider apart as the scent of water drifted to him—fresh, clear, kissed by wind. Asher slowed his stride, dark paws sinking into moss and damp soil as he followed the trail of delicate pawprints that shimmered faintly in the sunlight. Then he saw it.The lake.Still. Silent. Sacred. The water lay like glass, mirroring the golden sky overhead. Morning mist curled above its surface like a soft veil, and tall reeds swayed at the edges where dragonflies danced between blades. It hit him like a memory. One he hadn’t thought about in years. This lake—this exact lake—was where his father used to take him as a pup. Before the war. Before the loss. They would lie beneath the oaks and count the stars. His father had called it the heart of the forest, a place where the world stood still, where the bond between wolf and nature hummed the loudest. Now it whispered something else.Peace.And at its center—was her.Elena.She stood at the water’s edge, one

Elena clung to him, her hands sliding through his hair, and her lips parting with soft gasps as Asher kissed her deeper, rougher—no longer gentle. Something was shifting. And it wasn't just the hunger in their kisses.“I feel… different,” Elena whispered breathlessly against his lips, her nails curling against his shoulders.“I know,” Asher murmured, panting as his forehead pressed to hers. “It’s the bond.”“No… not just the bond.” Her pupils flared golden, and her voice came out lower—more layered, like two voices overlapping. “It’s her. She’s waking up.”A growl curled in Asher’s chest. Deep. Possessive. “Leo’s awake too.”As if summoned, their wolves surged forward—raw, primal instincts crashing through their consciousness like a tidal wave. A heat swept over them, curling in their bellies, wild and unrelenting.Lena growled through Elena’s lips. The sound was soft but primal. Her golden eyes narrowed, and she gripped Asher’s jaw, kissing him with such fire he nearly buckled.Their

Elena finished the last bite of her eggs in silence, her fingers idly circling the edge of the plate while her thoughts lingered somewhere far beyond the small kitchen. Asher watched her, his hand resting lightly over hers, thumb rubbing soft, steady circles along her knuckles.“Do you think…” she started, hesitating, “that Genevieve ever regretted helping me?”He frowned, scooting his stool closer until their knees brushed. “No. Not for a second.”“She lost everything, Asher.”“And gained something far more valuable,” he said firmly. “Self-respect. Integrity. You.”Elena looked up, her eyes shining with quiet pain. “But I didn’t protect her.”“You were a kid,” he said gently. “You didn’t have the power to protect anyone—not even yourself. That’s not on you.”Her lip trembled. “But if she hadn’t stepped in... I don’t know who I would’ve become. Or if I would’ve made it at all.”“Then she changed your life. And I promise you, Elena, she knows that. People like her? They don’t act out o

Asher pressed a gentle kiss to her temple, his fingers softly threading through her hair.“You really have no idea what you do to me,” he whispered, lips brushing her skin.Elena smiled, eyes closed, basking in the warmth of his touch. “And you’re dramatic first thing in the morning. Do I need to start rationing your compliments?”He chuckled, a sound that vibrated against her. “No. But I’ll take your blushes as payment.”“I’m not blushing,” she lied, the heat on her cheeks betraying her.Asher shifted to hover over her slightly, one hand sliding across the curve of her waist to cup her face. “Yes, you are. And it’s adorable.”His thumb stroked across her cheek, the softest touch, and his gaze locked with hers — intense, open, reverent.“I meant what I said. You’re beyond beautiful, Elena. I don’t even have the words.”Elena bit her lip, her heart fluttering. “Good thing you’re pretty. Makes up for the cheesy lines.”“You love my cheesy lines,” he grinned.“I tolerate them.”“Mm-hmm.”

I kept thinking... no words could describe you. And that’s coming from someone who speaks seven languages.”She blinked up at him, shy but smiling. “You’re really saying that after what we did last
