"Take back what you have just said." Christian let out furiously. "No! Miriam didn't deserve this," Eleanor wept. "I'm sorry but she was covered in bruises and right now she is in a critical condition, she had to get treated instantly to prevent her from getting an infection." Romeo let out.

"Shut your mouth asshole or I would do that for you. Miriam was never raped," Christian let out aggressively as he aimed to grab Romeo by his collar but his father and the guards were quick to hold him back.

"Son, you have to stay calm. We are at the hospital and you are creating an unnecessary scene." His father let out before turning to apologize to the number of people gazing at them.

"Father you heard what he said, Miriam didn't warrant any of this. I want to see her father," Christain let out disheartenedly. "I'm sorry but she is in a critical condition so you can't go in. We promise to keep investigating until we find the nicumpos that had done this to your fiance," Romeo made known.

"Miriam?"

"Miriam?" He yelled her name.

"Miriam? Damn those bastards." Christian yelled before walking out of the hospital. Eleanor held the side of her chest, she was hurt deeply by the incident that had befallen her sister. She couldn't stop blaming herself for her sister's predicament. If she had gone home with her sister earlier on, maybe none of this could have happened.

"I can't believe that I caused all of this." She let out, in sobs. Her words were mixed with sobs and you could hardly hear her next words, Christain's father trudged towards her before placing his hands on her shoulder to comfort her.

"Don't worry, the doctors are doing their best to see that your sister isn't in any danger." Romeo let out.

TWO HOUR LATER

Eleanor, Doris, and Christian had been sitting in the waiting room of the hospital for good two hours. Eleanor still wouldn't stop sobbing as Doris rubbed her back to calm her down.

The doctor eventually walked out of the emergency room sweating profusely. "Can I talk to the family of the patient called Miriam?" He let out as they all sprang towards him.

"I'm Miriam's only family doctor and that's her fiancee, what is my sister's condition like?" She asked, wiping her cheeks dry. "Your sister is free from any infection and you can see her right now, follow me," the doctor let out as they all trudged behind him.

He pulled the private room door of Miriam's ward for them to plod inside. Miriam was fast asleep and had a small cut on the side of her head, hand, and neck. Eleanor sobbed harder as she took quiet strides towards her sister's bed shakily. She just couldn't still believe that her sister could be treated this awfully by strangers.

"Miriam, it's me, your sister! Eleanor." She let out holding her sister's hand.

"She might be unconscious for a few hours because of the sleeping drugs induced in her body system but she would feel better when she is finally awake," Eleanor muttered, her hands caressing her sister's hair softly.

"Why would somebody do this to her? Miriam is a sweet soul for God's sake." Eleanor let out as the tears trailed down soaking the bed.

"Miriam?" Christian who had been standing silently gradually called. "Miriam? It's Christian and I promise you that I would find that bastard and make them pay for doing this to you." He said again close to her ear.

"Miriam, forgive me for not keeping many eyes on you." He let out before placing a soft kiss on her head as he shut his eyes tightly as trails of tears fell to his cheeks but that little touch made her whimper in her sleep.

Miriam's eyes lit up slowly but the blur vision of having someone rape her made her head thump hard. She pushed Christian back before clutching her body tightly.

"It's me, Christian. Miriam, it's me." Christian said trudging towards her while holding her hands but instead she pushed him harshly. "I said stay away from me you monster, I hate you." She yelled in tears.

"Miriam_" Christain was about to say but was caught short. "Why can't you get this to your thick skull that you aren't needed here? Get the hell out of here." She yelled.

"Doctor, what are we going to do about Miriam?" Christian asked the doctor. He was sitting in the doctor's office with Eleanor after the doctor had injected Miriam another dose to calm her down.

"You have to give Miriam time to recover from such an incident. she's a victim of a horrible experience, it is only normal for her to act in such a manner. You can both see from her condition that she is finding it hard, Miriam needs all the love she cares from the people she loves," the doctor let out.

"Those animals," Eleanor wept.

"I know that you're finding everything hard to believe yourself but you have to be strong for your sister, I have other patients to take care of." The doctor let out, making them nod understandably.

It was late at night. Everyone had gone back home to freshen up except for Eleanor who sat close to her sister sobbing. She hadn't eaten anything yet and her head was throbbing hard. Miriam whirled in her sleep as her eyes slowly lit up, she glared at her sister before calling her name.

"Eleanor?" She called making her sister gawk at her in happiness and sadness mixed together.

"Miriam, I__ I'm sorry." Eleanor said, hugging her sister tightly.

*******

The news was everywhere about Miriam's predicament. The news was viral and that could Tarnish the Robert family's reputation and that was beginning to get Christain's mother pissed.

Christian walked into the house exhausted but she chose that period to talk to him.

"Son, we need to talk." She let out.

"Not now mom." He said.

"I want to talk to you right now, you need to break up with that girl. Can't you see that she is bad luck? she's going to tarnish our image and spoil things for our family?" His mother let out.

"No mother, I love Miriam and nothing can stop me from getting married to her." Christian let out firmly.

"Hey," Eleanor simply said."I'm glad that you are home because Carlos has just been arrested by the police!" She blurted out while Miriam gaze was fixed to the television. Miriam's heart skipped a beat as she turned her attention to the television. The news anchor's voice filled the room, reporting on the arrest of Carlos, a name she recognized so well. The screen displayed footage of a man being led away in handcuffs by police officers."I honestly had no idea that he would be handcuffed in front of everybody," Miriam said, a little bit guilty. Miriam's voice trembled as she spoke, the weight of the situation sinking in. "Well, I think that's good. That way, other criminals like him would know exactly what would happen to them when they do similar things." Doris said with no remorse.Miriam nodded slowly, her mind racing with a mix of e

Meanwhile, Gina and her son walked inside the company, they discussed. "I thought that you weren't joining the press conference?" Gina questioned while she held her expensive purse tightly. Carlos looked up at her with a serious expression. "I just thought that it was best I keep myself busy because it takes my mind off Miriam." He replied. "By the way, regarding your court case. You don't have to worry about it because I promise to do everything for the court to dismiss your case, okay?" Gina told her son. Carlos nodded, a mixture of gratitude and worry on his face. "Thanks, Mom. I appreciate your support, but I can't shake off the feeling that things might not go as smoothly as we hope. The evidence against me seems pretty strong."Gina sighed and placed a reassuring hand on Carlos's shoulder. "I understand your concerns, Carlos. But we have a good legal team working on your case, and I trust that they'll do everything they can to prove your innocence. We'll fight this together,

He had driven to the bar to drink his pains away.Carlos sat in his car with his friend, parked outside the bar, feeling a mix of emotions after leaving Miriam's apartment. He had hoped for a different outcome, but the conversation he had with his son had left him with a heavy heart. Unable to face the solitude of his empty home, he sought solace in the familiar comfort of the bar.As he stepped out of the car, the cool night air enveloped him, causing him to shiver slightly. With a deep sigh, he walked towards the entrance with Jeffrey beside him, the dimly lit sign above casting a faint glow on the pavement. The sound of laughter and music seeped through the door, a stark contrast to the somberness that weighed on his mind.Pushing open the heavy wooden door, Carlos entered the bar and was immediately greeted by a wave of noise and the scent of alcohol. The room was filled with customers engaged in energetic conversa

It was late at night but Carlos didn't mind as he drove to Miriam's apartment with his friend Jeffery tagging along. The streets were quiet and the city lights cast a dim glow on the deserted sidewalks."Carlos, hey, it's late!" Jeffery said the moment they arrived in front of Miriam's apartment."Miriam might think you are here to kidnap Henry!" Jeffery added and Carlos would have chuckled at his statement if things were alright. "I just want to see Henry and not cause trouble!" Carlos said. He glanced at Jeffery, who was looking slightly worried."I understand your concern, Jeffery," Carlos replied, trying to reassure his friend. "But you know how much Henry means to me." Carlos added.Jeffery nodded reluctantly, understanding the depth of Carlos's feelings for his son. "I get it, man. We can do this tomorrow. Why don't we go home and come back!" “Doris, please take care of Henry while I’m away. Okay!” Miriam said, grabbing her bag to leave the house.“Sure, I would make sure that he gets his bath,” Doris said but their little discussion was interrupted when Eleanor walked inside followed by Christian and the lawyer. “Miriam, you have got a guest,” Eleanor informed her sister before she could leave. “Miriam, Carlos had done something through a high source of justice!” Christian voiced.“And what’s that?” Miriam asked.“Based on everything that the lawyer had gotten from the court, it says that Carlos has already admitted the incident to you and that you have forgiven him before you even got married!” Christian voiced out and that had left Miriam’s mouth to hang open. “But that’s not true, he merely even told me that he was the one who had violated me. Oh my Goodness!” Miriam said, rubbing her forehead. “That’s a great defense!” Christian voiced out.“Your ex-husband is such a liar,” Doris said, wiggling her head in shame.
