LORRAINE'S POV

As I walked home, I replayed the events that happened that night over and over again in my mind. It all felt so surreal. I could still feel the adrenaline pumping in my veins.

I still couldn't believe it. I had done it. I had stood up to Mr. Stevens. I never knew I had it in me. I was proud of myself for helping a woman in need.

The memory of his shocked face as he was dragged away by the guards filled me with so much satisfaction. I was glad that Kelly could live a life without fear now. She deserved it. Everyone did.

When I reached my house, I noticed the lights in the living room were turned on. That's odd. I turned them off before I went outside. When I entered, I found Rose pacing up and down the living room. She sighed in relief when she saw me.

"Lorraine!" she exclaimed, rushing over to hug me. "You nearly gave me a heart attack! I was so worried about you."

I hugged her back tightly "I'm sorry, Rose. I didn't mean to scare you."

She pulled back to look at me
