LORRAINE'S POV

One afternoon, I sat crossed leg on Neil's couch, flipping through a magazine while Neil laid next to me, engrossed in a book about quantum physics. I liked the fact that Neil and I could sit in silence. We could sit there, not saying anything to each other and it wouldn't be weird.

I glanced at him, arching my eyebrow "You've been reading that thing for hours. Do you even understand it?"

Neil scoffed "Excuse you. It's not my fault you're too dumb to know how interesting quantum physics is"

I squinted my eyes at him "Did you just -"

"Shh!" he shushed me "You're interrupting"

I rolled my eyes with a smile "You're something else".

My phone buzzed on the coffee table and the screen lit up with a new message. I reached over saw that it was a text from Gina. We exchanged numbers the last time she helped me pack my things from the house.
