Zayne cringed; the confident look on his face dropped to a solemn one, and his curled to a grimace.

“Unfortunately, I did. A lot of times.” He sighed, rubbing his hand at the back of his neck. “I don’t have an excuse for my actions. I was a big fool, a really big fool, and I don’t think I would be able to ever forgive myself for all the pain I caused her.”

“Don’t say that.” Layla pouted and placed her hand on his shoulders. “I’ve already forgiven you, so you should forgive yourself too. It would make me feel bad if you are still mad at yourself.”

“Why would you feel bad?” He asked, scrunching his brows. “I hurt you so much, Layla. Nothing I would ever do to myself would compare to what I did to you.”

“That doesn’t mean I want you to be mad at yourself. I don’t want anyone to carry any burden or beat themselves up for me. It really makes me uncomfortable and guilty. So please, forgive yourself. If you can’t for yourself, then do it for me, please.” She pleaded, wrapping her arms around
