Aláine's Point of View

The deafening sound of a gunshot rang out, and it all changed. Everything moved like a slow-motion movie, and I seemed separate from it. On one frame was Zara holding Axel. The next frame saw Callie lying on the ground, followed by Kieran kneeling next to her and holding her against him. Then another frame where Frederic had been shot. He was flying backwards through the air from the sheer force of the shotgun blast. Finally, I was held and was crying and struggling.

"Where are you, Kristof! I need you! We need you!" I remember screaming in my mind.

Where was I? What happened? Oh yeah... it all came flooding back. Viktor. Oh, no! Callie and Frederic! Were they okay?

On waking, my sense of touch came back first. Keeping my eyes closed, so I wouldn't alert them that I was awake if anyone was there, I tried to use my other senses to determine where I was. I was inside, definitely a room somewhere. Underneath me was some form of soft bedding. A bed or mattress, I wa

Aláine's Point of View"You will come to love me when we mate," he said vehemently."You will forget that wolf-born monster and his pack of monsters. I will be your mate! Not him!""I don't want you as a mate!" I hissed at him."Why me? Go find someone who wants this. I certainly don't!""When you hear my story, you will see. You will change your mind," Viktor replied."You will see that all wolf-born are aberrations and should be killed. For it was wolf-born who took my mate from me. It was wolf-born who tried to take my life. It was wolf-born who do not see humans as being worthy."He went on and on about wolf-born this and wolf-born that. I could understand that he was devastated that his mate had been killed by her brother who was wolf-born, but Kristof and his pack weren't like that.In the end, I refused to show him any sympathy for his plight. He was absolutely insane, and I supposed that this was what happened when a werewolf's mate died. If Viktor took my life, is that what K

Olivier's Point of View What the fuck is wrong with Viktor? First, he kills one of our pack members, Stéphan. All for questioning why Viktor even bothered going after Aláine, suggesting that he could find another Luna. Then he screams that she is his and that the Alpha, Kristof, had stolen her from Viktor as if Aláine was his fated mate. Not to mention that Viktor was insisting that we all call him Alpha. We were to obey all of his commands. Watching him kill Stéphan with a silver dagger was horrifying. He'd been with Viktor and me the longest out of all the guys. Viktor was the one that turned him. What could he do to me if he could slaughter one of our own like that? Just because he named me Beta doesn't make me safe. Now, we are in our new packhouse. Earlier, we attacked the packhouse and have abducted Aláine, their Luna. We are holding her in the master bedroom upstairs. I helped Viktor get her into the room and handcuffed her hands to the headboard. She will be staying there un

Aláine's Point of ViewAfter waking up in a room somewhere and having Viktor tell me that he would forcefully mate me against my will, I was now feeling far from confident. Nevertheless, I wouldn't show my fears to him or tears, for that matter. He had laughed at me and walked out of the room where I was held captive. There was the sound of a key turning, and I ran to the door to try and open it. Alas, he had locked it as I thought. I was now in a prison, although a warm one with a comfortable bed.I explored every nook and cranny of my prison cell. Obviously, Viktor had gone for the luxury approach. My room contained a wardrobe, empty except for a portable heater, a large king or queen-sized bed and a bedside table with a lamp. Good for hitting Viktor over the head if need be. Large towels, a flannel, an unopened toothbrush, and other toiletries were in an ensuite. There were curtained windows in the bedroom and one smaller one above the toilet. Looking outside, I found I was on th

Aláine's Point of ViewI carefully inspected the heater. It was a metal one and quite sturdy. If I used it to break a window, then I could climb out of it, providing no one could hear the window breaking. Maybe I could start with the window in the ensuite. It was small but certainly big enough for me to climb out of. There was the added bonus of the window being too small for Viktor or probably any other male with him. Werewolf males were not petite, even in human form. All the ones I had seen boasted muscled and ripped bodies. Werewolves were good-looking, at least the ones I had seen, although none of them were as handsome as Kristof.Hoping that Viktor didn't come back too soon, I took one of the bed sheets, ripped it into strips, and tied them end to end. Now I had my rope and way down to the ground. I tied the end of my 'rope' to the window stay. Since this activity had taken a fair amount of time, it was now a matter of waiting until after my next meal. Hopefully, that wouldn'

Viktor's Point of ViewI was vexed that I couldn't sleep in my bed, but I had put Aláine there. I didn't trust her yet, but it wouldn't be long. Very soon, she would mine.Aláine would shift for the first time, and I would be there to see it, to help her through the pain. Together, we would enter her new world. It was so exciting, and the thought of having my new mate as beautiful as her gave me such a thrill. The sheer thought of it made me hard. Now, it was time for Aláine's breakfast. I had to withhold food yesterday because she was so unreasonable, even though Olivier had made such a nice meal for her. I got him to cook another meal in hopes that she would be much better behaved than earlier."I brought you some food, my love," I said to her."I am not your love!" Aláine replied.I tried hard to ignore her rudeness and reminded her gently by saying, "Ahhh, but you will be. Come get your food, my love. You must be hungry. You haven't eaten for about two days and need your energy fo

Aláine's Point of ViewThe following day I woke to the chinking sound of a plate being put down on the bedside table. With no door to the room, I felt vulnerable and not just from Viktor. There were other men here as well, and I couldn’t trust any of them. To add to my woes, I hadn't slept well at all."I am going to remove the cuffs off one of your hands. Remember not to struggle, or you will go hungry," said Viktor as he reached for my right hand.Knowing I needed to eat, I acquiesced to his demands. Breakfast was lukewarm porridge with milk. Edible and filling, though not tasty as it wasn't sweetened. Still, it was better than nothing. I almost said thank you, but I didn't want to be polite. He didn't deserve any graciousness. Not even a thanks."Now, Anya, where are your manners?" Viktor asked. What? His mate's name was Anya; I knew that much, but had he forgotten my name?"Oh, Anya, I love you so much," he gushed."When you shift, we will be together again."Holy shit! He has gon

Aláine's Point of View Later that night From the bed, I could make out the perfect glowing orb in the sky that signified the full moon. The moon's brilliant white juxtaposed against mottled greys drowned out any starlight leaving the sky various shades of the darkest blue I'd ever seen. Its beauty was calling to something deep inside me, and my body responded without thought or control. I felt like I was in a sort of trance. My arms pulled against the cuffs that shackled me to the bed. Every part of my body felt uncomfortable and strange. It was not long before the pain started, and I tried so hard not to cry out but failed. Suddenly, I felt one of the bones in my legs snap, and my cries became screams. "Kristof, my mate!" I screamed in my mind. "Where are you? I need you! You said you'd be here with me! Kristof!" The other screams brought Viktor running into the room. "Well, well, well," he drawled. "Fuck off, you mongrel!" I screamed back at him, but he didn't leave. More b

Kristof's Point of ViewTwo Days AgoAláine had only been gone for about 24 hours now, but it felt like a week or longer. In the short time I had known her, she had become my moon and my stars. She was my everything, and I was madly in love with her. Such was the Goddess-given mate bond. I had to laugh because my father used the same endearment with my mother. Still, I could not imagine her not being a part of my life, and now she was gone. It was my job to keep her safe. I had failed her. Noah had taken over running the day-to-day business of the pack while I spent my time looking over maps to figure out where she might be held. I had my scouts out trying to find any trace of Viktor and his henchmen. So far, there was no information or sight of them."Kristof! Can you hear me? Please come find me! Please! I need you! Kristof!""What?" I exclaimed out loud. "Aláine! Where are you?"Just that moment, Noah came running into the room."Kristof, are you okay?" he asked."I heard Aláine c

Unknown's Point of View I finally found Viktor holed up in a small cabin in the woods. It had obviously seen better days. Any paint had long since flaked away, and the gardens were overgrown. I walked up the path to knock on the equally run-down door. "Ahhh, Viktor," I said, "The man I have been looking for." "And what do I owe the pleasure, Mr...?" Viktor replied. "Who I am is of no matter at this moment," I stated. "I want to know what you intend to do with the woman, Aláine?" I watched that pathetic, snivelling werewolf, Viktor. He was cowering before me, although he neither knew who nor what I was. When I mentioned the Aláine woman, I could see the indecision on Viktor's face. "She is my Luna!" he screamed at me. "No, she is not!" I snapped back at him. "She belongs to another. She never belonged to you and never will." The frustration on his face was sweet. God, I hated werewolves. Viktor walked around his little cabin. The inside was similarly as run-down as the outside

  • The Alpha's Mate (Book 1: Finding His Luna)   Ch. 106 - Celebration

Aláine's Point of View Tomorrow night was the first full moon after my shift. Kristof and I were to be mated in front of our pack. During the two weeks, Kristof had taken me into their little township to meet many of the pack members. It was nerve-wracking, but it gave me a sense of purpose too. I was finally meeting all the people Kristof was responsible for and, by extension, for whom I would be responsible. Being a Luna was a considerable responsibility. Fate had put me in that position, so I was going to make sure I didn't let Kristof or our pack down. My guards, Daniel and Jake, had taken Zara and me into the city to purchase a gown. I chose a lovely cream lace dress with spaghetti straps. My favourite style. It hugged the curves in my body but was also elegant. There was a slight flair from the knees, ending halfway down the calves at the front. At the back, it reached my shoes at the bottom. It was a dress that said wedding without actually saying it. Just perfect. Initially

Aláine's Point of View My life consisted of walking with Kristof and Axel in the morning, having breakfast then training with Michel, Daniel and Jake. After lunch, I would spend hours cooped up with Noah learning how to do the accounts. Then I would have time to spend with Zara and Callie before dinner. Evenings were spent doing another kind of exercise with Kristof. I had never been so busy or so tired, but I can't say I hated it. During our nighttime trysts, Kristof broached the subject of a Luna Celebration where we would be officially mated in front of the pack. I would then be inaugurated as Luna officially. This was a big thing as far as the pack were concerned. They hadn't had a Luna in years, not even with the last Alpha. When the last Alpha stepped down, Kristof stepped up to take his place. He had been groomed to take over the position as the previous Alpha had no offspring. This was unusual, but the Alpha was gay, and neither he nor his mate wanted children. They could ha

Aláine's Point of View The following morning, we took Axel for a run before breakfast. It was good to see that he could run again and loved running throughout the forest. I didn't need to run with him, as he would take off and return often. It also gave me a chance to have quality time with Kristof, which didn't involve sex. When we sat for breakfast, Kristof explained that Michel would take Daniel, Jake and me for training. We would train together, so I could get used to their fighting style. Kristof made it quite clear that the purpose of the exercise was self-defence, and it would be up to my guards to keep me safe. All four of us first went for a run in wolf form around the forest as a warm-up. Michel decided it would be preferable to learn to fight in human form while only practising running in wolf form. I needed to be comfortable as a wolf before learning to fight like one. Once I was warmed up, Michel went over the basic principles of hand-to-hand combat. The first principl

Aláine's Point of View Kristof and I arrived home from the police station and went straight to his office. Noah was already there working. "Afternoon, Noah," said Kristof. "Afternoon," I echoed, smiling. "Alpha, Luna, what do you need?" Noah asked. "I need you to run Aláine through the accounts and coach her through taking over from you," Kristof replied. "I think this is an area that the Luna can oversee under your guidance at first." "Brilliant," smirked Noah. "I would be happy to show you the ropes." Noah and I spent the next two hours going over accounts. I knew that Kristof owned quite a few businesses under the name of Kristof Blackwolf. His construction company, Blackwolf Industries, was doing exceptionally well in the human world. The same company was constructing the new guard house and family units. This company had an actual accounting firm running the books, but it was overseen by Noah and now me. A certain percentage of the net profits were funnelled into the pack a

Aláine's Point of View When that arsehole trafficker, Sunny Chan, grabbed me, I was scared. That pissed me off because after turning, I managed to scare Viktor. I shouldn't have been scared of a stupid human, but I was, and I know for a fact that Kristof would have felt it. I felt his anger in response to it. I smelt and heard Samson as he snuck into the interrogation room. As soon as he grappled Sunny, I made my move to get out of his hold. Luckily it wasn't hard. I could have gotten out of it, but then I didn't want to show how strong I actually was. Grrr. How the hell do werewolves figure this shit out? Before walking out of the room, I told the detective I was finished here. He just nodded. Even the lawyer managed to look contrite. So he should. After this, it would be hard for his client to come out of this without some form of penalty. Maybe if he does, I could do something about it. I could sense that Kristof was standing outside of the room. It was pretty obvious the direct

Kristof's Point of View Samson knocked on the door, and one of the detectives opened the door and greeted us. He was definitely a human, so I knew there was no way I could force the issue of letting me stay in the interrogation room with Aláine. When she went in, Samson motioned me to come to the next room, where there was a one-way mirror I could look through. "Sorry, Alpha, I couldn't let you stay in the room with Luna, even if the Chief allowed you," he apologised. "The lawyer for this arsehole would have a field day, and we can't let him walk. He is trafficking women for sex." Damn! Humans were disgusting at times. I severely doubted anyone in our community would do such a thing, though I wasn't sure about Vampires. They needed to get blood somehow, and I had heard stories. "At least this way, we can keep an eye on Luna without alerting anyone," Samson continued. My attention moved from Samson to the perp. So this guy was a pimp, but just on a grand scale. He was wearing a sui

Kristof's Point of View So far, today has been a wonderful day. Aláine and I started with our first run as mates, then ended with incredible sex. It was time to take the party inside. As much as I enjoy making love to her outside, we have a comfortable bedroom to continue it. Cameras can be on outside to pick up any disturbance, and the bedroom is soundproofed. "Let's get some food," I said in answer to Aláine's grumbling tummy. "I feel like all I ever do is eat," she said embarrassingly. "I did tell you we burn more calories than humans, and we have not only been for a run but also had fantastic sex. That has burned off quite a few." I responded. "Lead the way," she declared, laughing. "Please feed me before I faint from hunger." "At your service, my lady. I'll fill your stomach first, and then I'll fill other things," I smiled and jiggled my eyebrows suggestively, leading her toward the kitchen. "Pasta sound good?" I asked while I rummaged through the fridge. "Sure," said Alá

Aláine's Point of View Over the next three days, we practised shifting between human and wolf, human and Lycan, wolf and Lycan, and back again. My shifting time was much faster, although Kristof was incredibly fast at shifting forms. He'd had many years of practice, and it showed. At least it didn't hurt as badly. Unfortunately, the pain hadn't entirely diminished. I had my walking and running down pat. My tail was acting like a rudder, and I could run and turn without falling over. Kristof said I was a natural at it. I thought my progress was due to being turned as an adult. While it took wolf-born children much longer, knowing the science behind it helped. Now we were going for my first official run with my mate. I would be handing over the reins to Calliope, and Kristof would allow Connery to have control during this time. Kristof was very explicit with Calliope and Connery that this was a run only, not a mating. "Why?" I asked. "What's the difference?" "If our wolves mate, the
