ROSEANNE
The afternoon wind blew through the broken window at the end of the warehouse, bringing with it swirling dust before landing back on the long-untouched floor. I stood in the middle of the dim room, arms folded across my chest, my eyes staring at the figure tied up in the corner of the room— Tion. His mouth was gagged with a cloth, but his sharp gaze still tried to fight back even though his body was limp.
Kiren and Raven stood not far from me, watching with a vigilant attitude. After getting some important information, I immediately ordered Kiren to catch a man who betrayed Damian, only after that did I contact Damian.
I know this is an exaggeration, but meeting a man like Damian Fenrison certainly requires extra steps because I'm sure he wouldn't want to meet me if I didn't have something important that is directly related to him. I don't know him well, but the stories I've heard are enough to give me an idea.
An Alpha is ruthless, ambitious, and notoriously cares about no one but himself and the people he deems essential.
The roar of a car engine came closer, breaking my reverie. The warehouse door creaked open, and the man finally appeared.
Damian Fenrison.
'He came,' I muttered to myself, and immediately noticed him moving as he approached.
Damian was very tall, with a strong posture that radiated power. The black suit he wore stood in stark contrast to the dusty warehouse. His eyes were cold, piercing like the blade of a sword. But what was most disturbing was the aura Damian gave off— it felt oppressive, like a storm ready to erupt at any moment.
When we were close enough, Damian turned his gaze towards Tion, and I could see a murderous look there—making me sure that the problem between them was pretty big.
“I don’t have much time, Roseanne. Since I’m here, hand Tion over to me now,” Damian said matter-of-factly, his voice heavy and impatient.
Since the warehouse was abandoned, there wasn't enough lighting. The only bright light came from the lamp above Damian's head.
Instead of answering, I walked closer to him, letting my high heels tap against the concrete floor, creating a small echo. “So you came, Damian. I thought you were too arrogant to meet me.”
I closed the distance between us. I saw a flash of surprise in Damian's eyes as he got a better look at my face. It only lasted a few seconds, but I noticed it.
He raised an eyebrow. “Just tell me what you want, and I’ll take Tion.”
I snorted, crossing my arms. “Tion will stay here until we’re done talking.”
Damian took two steps closer without hesitation. The Betas behind me moved warily, but I raised my hand to keep them from interfering. Damian stopped right in front of me, staring at me coldly.
'For someone who will be my future Alpha, this guy doesn't look friendly at all. If he doesn't like me, I should be able to break off our arranged marriage easily,' I thought to myself, trying to analyze Damian's character.
“Okay, Roseanne,” he said, emphasizing my name as if to remind me that he was serious. “What do you want to talk about?”
I straightened my shoulders, looking at Damian without fear. “I want to cancel our arranged marriage.”
Damian snorted softly as if what I had just said was a joke. “Didn’t you just call yourself my future wife a moment ago? Why did you suddenly change your mind?”
“I haven't changed my mind, I really don't want to marry you!”
Damian then chuckled, but it wasn’t a pleasant laugh, of course. He looked like he had just belittled me. “And you think I’ll let that happen?”
“I don’t care what you want,” I said sharply. I was now in serious mode, no longer joking around like I had been on the phone. “I’m not going to marry someone like you. I know how cruel you are, Damian. Do you think I will give myself up to living with you for the long haul? Of course, I won’t!”
Him's gaze darkened. "You don't know anything about me, so don't try to judge."
“Precisely because I know,” I said firmly, “I know how you have been trying to destroy my grandfather for years. If I need to remind you, our companies are rivals. You have always wanted to seize the power my grandfather has. So why are you agreeing to marry me now? What is your game, Damian?!”
Damian was silent for a moment, but I could see a flash of emotion in his eyes, which he hid very well.
“There are many reasons,” Damian finally answered, his tone clearly casual. “But the main reason is because you’re beautiful, Roseanne. Who wouldn’t want to marry an Omega as beautiful as you? Andreas has always been looking out for you, but now that I have the chance, I must take it well.”
I was stunned momentarily, but then my sarcastic laugh filled the room. “You want to marry me because I’m beautiful? Is that the best answer you can give?”
Damian just stared at me expressionlessly. “Roseanne, as you said, our companies used to be rivals, but if we get married, doesn’t that mean Moonveil Group will no longer have a rival? This marriage will benefit both parties, and you know that.”
I immediately shook my head, feeling even angrier. “I don’t believe it. You don’t even look like you’re trying to convince me with a more reasonable reason.”
“Because I don’t need to do that,” he said coldly. “If you want to cancel this marriage, go ahead. But I’m sure your grandfather won’t agree after all the agreement has been made, and I was told first that you would definitely agree no matter what.”
“Who said I would definitely agree?” I asked sharply but with a slight tremor in my voice. “This is my life. I am the one who can make decisions for myself, not my grandfather or anyone else.”
Damian stared at me silently for a long time. I don't know what the man was thinking as he studied my face with his sharp eyes. Then he stepped back, looking at me with an expression that was hard to explain.
“Then why don’t you just run away?” he said flatly. “Leave your family, leave everything. If you don’t want to marry me, that’s your choice.”
I froze, not expecting Damian to say something like that.
Did he think I could easily live alone as an Omega after leaving my family and the Moonveil Pack? I would be targeted by many werewolves and end up with a bad fate, not to mention the belief that Grandpa Andreas would not let me leave the pack.
“Why are you making things difficult, Damian? You and I can take the easy way out of this arranged marriage. I can clearly see that you have no interest in me, and I don’t like you at all! So, agree to this request and tell my grandfather that you want to cancel the arranged marriage!”
Damian suddenly chuckled, but it sounded very annoying to my ears. “Too bad, Roseanne. But I can’t grant that one request of yours.”
“Why?!” I asked quickly.
“Because I don’t care about your feelings,” he replied coldly. “I just do what I have to do. As for your part, you have to take care of it yourself.”
I felt angry and confused at the same time. However, one thing was clear, I hated Damian's indifferent attitude. However, I also felt something behind his words— something deeper and darker, but I didn't know what.
Damian is an enigma I can't figure out.
I tried to bait him with one last trick I had. “If you really want to marry me… then what about Lyra?”
Damian suddenly froze. His gaze, which was originally cold, now turned darker and more dangerous. I could even feel that the wolf in him was also reacting until the man radiated a terrifying aura.
"Don't take Lyra with you," Damian said in a low voice, making the hairs on my neck bristle.
“I just want to know,” I said, sounding casual even as my heart raced. “Are you really over your late Luna, or is this marriage just an escape from your guilt?”
Damian suddenly stepped closer, and for the first time, I felt a little scared by the man's intimidating gaze.
“Roseanne, I warn you,” his voice sounded like a threat, “don't bring up Lyra's name again.”
I stared at him and unconsciously held my breath, so scared that I couldn't say anything. All I could do was watch Damian, who then passed me and walked over to Tion.
Damian pulled Tion to his feet with a very rough movement. I couldn't tell whether it was a form of hatred toward Tion or perhaps an outlet for emotions that he couldn't channel directly to me.
But what is certain is that I couldn't do anything anymore when Damian intended to take the man away.
“Our conversation is over, Roseanne,” he said one last time before finally walking out of this old warehouse dragging Tion along, and my negotiations ended in complete failure.
When Damian finally left with Tion, I could catch my breath again, still trying to comprehend what had just happened. I don't know, I felt like there was something else hidden in the purpose of the marriage between me and Damian.
I also began to realize that maybe I was trapped in something much more complicated than I thought. However, if I was trapped, I would make sure that I was not an easy pawn to be played with.
ROSEANNENight had fallen when I returned to the Moonveil mansion. The place that was supposed to be called home instead felt like hell to me. Tonight was the first night I appeared among my family after my long coma, and I knew they were not expecting me.I entered the dining room with slow steps. The long table was filled with familiar faces, but none looked friendly. Aunt Eleanor, sat on the right side with her husband, Uncle Walter. At the end of the table was my cousin, Lavinia, who was busy with her cell phone but still gave me a disdainful look every now and then.Grandpa Andreas still has two other sons, but tonight, I heard they cannot join us for dinner because they have business abroad.“Oh, look, who’s finally risen from the brink of death,” Aunt Eleanor quipped in a high-pitched voice, a sarcastic smile spreading across her face.I held my breath, trying to ignore her and sat in the chair usually reserved for me. But it seemed they didn't want to let me rest for a moment.
ROSEANNEThe next day, I had to attend a werewolf gathering at Grandpa Andreas’ command. Usually, an Omega like me wouldn’t need to come since most attendees were Alphas. I had only attended once, years ago. I immediately received too much-unwanted attention from other Alphas, so Grandpa never brought me along again. But he ordered me to come today, and I had a bad feeling about it for some reason. That night, a knee-length black dress wrapped my body beautifully, my hair was styled elegantly, and my light makeup made me look stunning yet still appropriately modest. Even though I felt incredibly uncomfortable, I had to uphold the image of the Moonveil family. As I stepped into the grand hall, my eyes searched for Grandpa, but instead, I found countless Alpha gazes fixated on me. The sweet scent of my pheromones must have filled the room, instantly drawing attention.‘Damn it, Grandpa should’ve come with me instead of sending me alone. Now I must deal with all these lecherous Alphas st
ROSEANNEI pulled Damian out of the hall, searching for a quiet place to talk privately. I needed to set things straight and make him understand that I absolutely did not agree with our marriage. He couldn't just claim me in front of everyone like that.We stopped at the eastern side of the hall, which, fortunately, was empty. This gave me the freedom to say whatever I wanted.I turned around and glared at Damian with fury. "Damian, you can't just randomly talk about marriage in front of everyone when I haven’t even agreed to this arranged marriage!"I felt like I was about to explode at any moment. This man was driving me insane with anger. "And you can’t just say that I belong to you in front of all those people! Do you think you can claim me like an object?!"Damian didn’t answer immediately, but I could feel his sharp gaze on me. It was as if I wasn’t the only one angry here—he was, too. Yet I hated how calm he looked as if everything that had just happened was nothing more than a
ROSEANNE After finishing the scenting, Damian pulled his face away from my neck. However, he still didn’t release his embrace around my waist. For a few seconds, I remained silent, trying to process everything that had just happened.‘This is strange. Why is my body reacting like this?’ I murmured in my heart. My body felt different after Damian’s scenting. I could feel every inch of me wrapped in his scent, which now clung to me more intensely. I never expected that our scents would blend so well together. The scenting also made me more sensitive to Damian’s presence.I brushed my fingers over my neck, trying to erase the lingering warmth left by his bite. When I turned to look at him, Damian’s expression remained calm as before, as if what had just happened wasn’t a big deal to him.But for me, it was a considerable loss.“Why did you do this?” My voice trembled, a mix of anger and panic. “You can’t just scent me, Damian! I didn’t even permit you!”Damian finally let go of my waist
DAMIANI stood tall on the right side of the main hall, observing my surroundings with a neutral expression. Alphas from various territories had gathered here tonight. Some were friendly, while others looked at me with expressions that were difficult to decipher—whether it was admiration, envy, or veiled hostility. As the Alpha of Fenrison, I was used to being the center of attention. However, tonight felt different. Their gazes weren’t solely on me but also on the figure of Roseanne standing by my side. Her hand was still wrapped around my arm, the once-awkward grip now feeling more natural, even though I knew she did it out of obligation—because of the orders and threats I had given her. I could sense Roseanne’s body was slightly tense, but she tried her best to maintain a calm expression.Stubborn Omega.“Stop gripping my arm so tensely, Roseanne,” I reminded her.Roseanne immediately looked up, her sharp gaze directed at me. “Then what should I do? Hug you affectionately and act a
ROSEANNE“So, you’ve decided to accept this arranged marriage, Anne?” Grandpa Andreas finally looked at me for the first time in the ten minutes since I entered his room.“Yes, because you didn’t give me a choice to refuse, did you?” I asked sarcastically, clearly displeased.Grandpa Andreas nodded slightly. “You’re right. This arrangement was never meant to be rejected, so you never had that option.”When I returned from the gathering, I went straight to Grandpa Andreas’s room to confront him. Of course, I first expressed my anger over how he had tricked me into attending and becoming Damian’s partner tonight. But Grandpa Andreas refused to talk to me. He ignored me completely. So, in the end, I told him I had agreed to the marriage to get his attention.Because, as he had said, I honestly had no other choice.“You met Damian at the event, didn’t you?” Grandpa Andreas stood from his desk and walked toward the sofa across from me, taking a seat. We were finally having a real conversat
DAMIANAfter the meeting ended, I left immediately. I didn't escort Roseanne home since she had come with the Moonveil family's private driver, and I knew she would refuse if I offered to take her. However, even after parting ways with Roseanne, her sweet scent lingered in my mind. For some reason, it bothered me. I should have ignored it, but my body betrayed me, choosing to remember the warmth she had left near me.Damn it.I brushed the thought aside and hurried toward the Aeternum Pack headquarters—my next destination. Several Betas greeted me as usual.“Alpha Damian,” one of my trusted Betas, Yori, greeted.I gave him a slight nod and asked, “Where’s Tobias?”“Tobias is already waiting downstairs, Alpha.”Without another word, I made my way there. Tobias wasn’t just a Beta—he was my right-hand man and the person I trusted most in Aeternum Pack. The underground corridor reeked of blood and dampness. The clinking of chains echoed as I approached the prison cell I was heading to. In
DAMIANI never liked coming to the Moonveil estate. The Moonveil family’s mansion stood grandly, even more luxurious than my home. I knew how wealthy Andreas Moonveil was, but that wasn’t why I despised the older man. Wealth wasn’t an issue for me—but Andreas? He was a cunning traitor who always sought to gain from every opportunity that came his way.I stepped out of the car with an unreadable expression. A servant greeted me with a respectful bow before leading me toward Andreas’ room. I followed her in silence, my mind occupied with the many possible outcomes of this conversation.I didn’t like speaking with Andreas. If it weren’t for the business interests and my pack’s survival, I would never have agreed to sit at the same table as him.I noticed how eerily quiet this grand estate was as I glanced around. What was the point of such a magnificent house if there was no life within it? The air felt cold, almost unwelcoming.Without realizing it, I found myself searching for Roseanne
ROSEANNEIn the following days, I finally went to one of Moonveil's companies to resume working. It wasn't the main company, just one of the other subsidiaries owned by Grandpa Andreas, entrusted to me for management. With Kiren guarding me, I stepped through the main entrance of the Moonveil corporate building, chin lifted high. The morning air was refreshingly cool, but the atmosphere inside the company wasn’t nearly as cold as the stares I received from several employees. Some of them started whispering the moment they saw me, and let’s not forget—I’m a werewolf, so I could hear every single word they said with ease."Does she still deserve to be here, leading the company?""After being in a coma for that long, is she even competent enough to be our superior?""How could she decide to marry the Alpha of our rival company?""I think Roseanne is quite the hypocrite. She married the Alpha of Fenrison, yet instead of managing his business, she came back here to work."I held my breath,
DAMIANFive minutes later, I entered my office and found Beta Kiren sitting on one of the sofas. He immediately stood up and bowed his head politely in greeting.I smirked slightly. So, this man did have manners, even though I wasn’t from the Moonveil Pack."Sit down," I said in a low, firm voice. I also took a seat across from him.Kiren.He was Roseanne’s personal beta, a name I had often heard. Someone who, it seemed, Roseanne trusted the most in this world—to the point that she chose Kiren to guard her instead of a beta from my own pack. I had never really met Kiren before, only glimpsed him from afar. Still, just from the way Roseanne said his name last night, for some reason, I felt that Kiren wasn’t just a bodyguard to her.I let out a quiet scoff, disliking that thought.Damn. I sounded like a jealous Alpha now.I clenched my jaw. No, I wasn’t jealous. This was just a routine precaution. I just wanted to ensure that the man before me had no hidden agenda other than protecting
DAMIANRoseanne is different from Lyra.I've been thinking about that ever since I first met Roseanne after she woke up from her coma and after spending more time with her.I shouldn’t compare the two—especially since Lyra is no longer in this world. But that thought creeps into my head on its own, beyond my control. There are moments when I suddenly wonder:‘If Lyra had argued with me last night, would she have made the same decision as Roseanne?’‘If Lyra were in Roseanne’s position, would she also be angry with me and think that this is unfair?’In truth, it’s one of the ways I try to understand Roseanne’s thoughts—by comparing her to the only woman I have ever loved. I used to think all women had similar ways of thinking, but even now… I still can’t figure out what’s really inside Roseanne’s head. She’s too difficult to understand, too strong-willed to be controlled. No omega has ever dared to defy me before. Yet, Roseanne always has her own answers, and in the end, she manages to
ROSEANNEOnce I was done with my business at the Moonveil house, I immediately returned to the Fenrison residence. But I didn’t bring Kiren with me that day because I needed to talk to Damian first. I asked Kiren to wait, and he could come once I informed him to move to the Fenrison house.I had just opened the front door when that deep voice greeted me from the living room."Where have you been, Roseanne?" Damian’s voice was flat but sharp. I could feel his anger in it. "Why didn’t you inform me before leaving?"I stopped but didn’t turn to face him. From the corner of my eye, I could see Damian sitting on the living room sofa, staring at me intensely."I was at my grandfather’s house," I decided to answer honestly.Damian let out a sigh, but he didn’t press me further like before. "Next time, let me know if you want to leave. One of the betas can escort you so you don’t have to drive yourself.""I don’t need to inform you whenever I go out. Besides, I’ll be going out more often from
ROSEANNE“Beta Kiren.”When I called his name, the tall man with dark brown hair immediately turned to me. His sharp eyes radiated their usual wariness, but his gaze softened when he saw me.“Miss Anne—ah, or should I call you Luna Roseanne now?” he greeted me with his familiar deep voice, laced with a bit of teasing.I clicked my tongue in annoyance. I hated that new title of mine. “Don’t call me that, Kiren. I want you to keep addressing me the same way you always have.”I saw Kiren bow slightly, a small smile on his lips. “Alright, Miss Anne.”“Can we talk for a bit? There’s something I need to tell you,” I asked him directly.Kiren nodded at once and told his fellow beta to cover for him since he was currently guarding the back gate of the Moonveil estate. Another beta quickly took his place so he could speak with me.Right after finishing my conversation with Grandpa Andreas, I came here to find Kiren because I had important matters I needed to discuss with him. The betas informe
ROSEANNEI stepped into Grandpa Andreas's room after hearing his voice telling me to come in. It felt like ages since I'd been here—I hadn't visited him ever since our last argument. The room was exactly the same—cold, filled with the scent of aged wood, and layered with memories from when I first entered this house until I grew up. Grandpa sat in one of the chairs by the large window, enjoying a cup of tea while gazing out at the Moonveil estate’s backyard. There was an empty glass on the table, which I assumed was meant for me. I had informed him I was coming, and I was sure he had prepared it for me."Sit down, Anne," Grandpa Andreas said in a calm voice.I still remember how cold his voice had been the last time we spoke before my wedding. But now, he was composed again, just like his usual self—as if nothing had ever happened. He often called me ‘Anne,’ but if he ever addressed me as ‘Roseanne,’ it meant he was serious, and his decision could not be argued with.I scoffed inwardl
ROSEANNEI went straight into the bedroom, leaving Damian alone after our argument. I couldn’t stand looking at his face any longer, and I knew I would only get angrier if he dared to mention that woman from his past again.I sat on the edge of the bed, my gaze empty as I stared through the large window that overlooked Damian’s backyard. The morning sun shone softly, but its warmth failed to reach my heart. I had to admit this house was grand, but it felt cold and empty.Just like its owner.I let out a long sigh, frustration heavy in my breath.“I have to live in this house. It’s no different from the Moonveil estate—both cold. But this place is even quieter than I expected,” I muttered to myself.I inhaled deeply once more, trying to calm the storm of anger brewing inside me. Damian... that bastard. It was only our first day as husband and wife, yet I had already been through so many emotions and unpleasant moments.I clenched my fists, closing my eyes as I struggled to steady my br
DAMIAN[FLASHBACK]The sea foam brushed against our bare feet, leaving a cool sensation that contrasted with the warmth of the sand. The sky blushed in crimson hues as if witnessing this fleeting moment's perfection. I watched Lyra standing a few steps ahead, her sheer white dress fluttering with the breeze and her soft laughter blending harmoniously with the sound of the waves."I always love seeing you laugh," I said, stepping closer. "It makes the whole world feel brighter."Lyra turned, her sparkling eyes reflecting the golden hues of the sunset. “Only when I laugh?” she teased, a playful curve tugging at her lips.I chuckled softly. "When you’re angry, the world feels like a storm. When you’re sad, it’s a long night without stars. But when you’re happy…" I stopped right before her, my fingers brushing her cheek, “the world feels perfect.”Lyra let out a soft sigh, pretending to ponder. “Hmm, so I should laugh more often, huh?”“Yes,” I replied firmly, “so I can always see the wor
ROSEANNEI woke up early this morning. My body felt utterly exhausted—not from lack of sleep, but from the turmoil weighing heavily on my chest. I couldn’t even remember what time I finally drifted off last night, too busy enduring the pain from my unresolved heat. All because Damian left me so suddenly. That bastard Alpha. My head burned with frustration, and my chest felt tight whenever I replayed last night’s events. I needed him so badly, yet he walked away right in the middle of my blazing heat. I couldn’t even begin to guess what was going through his twisted mind.“Forget it. There’s no point in dwelling on him,” I muttered under my breath, trying to shake the thoughts off. “My mood is already terrible, and I don’t want to make it worse by remembering that.”But living under the same roof as Damian, forgetting last night, would be impossible. Just seeing him would reignite my anger. The warmth from my heat still lingered faintly on my skin, though the suppressant I took managed
