Mira left the pub at the same time her phone vibrated in her jacket. She checked the new message that read: Delivery arrives in forty-five minutes.
Hours turned to days. Mira Red was no longer the main coverage of the news. Cohen grew restless in his pack mansion as he had heard nothing about the mate of him. He put himself into more works, hoping to distract himself from thinking of her. Truth to be told, she never left his mind.
His wolf growled at it. With the speed of the lightning, Cohen pinned her against a tree and showed his eyes were turning black. His wolf was as furious as he was. Rogue or not, he wasn’t planning to reject her. Hell, he didn’t even want to entertain that topic.
One file after another. Dalton reached for the warm aroma of black coffee. He took two sips before setting the cup down on his desk. It had been days since he last met her at Alpha Cohen’s territory. Everytime, she would slip from his fingers. His decades of experience was nothing compared to her. Mira might be looking like a junior rogue who didn’t have much experience. But, damn, she knew everything way too well. With everything pointed to her direction, Mira had shown that she was more capable than any other criminals that he had ever known. “Sir,” His second-in-command, Jahan, entered the office. Here were the things about running duty in the Council. The Battalions weren’t considered as a pack. All the Enforcers in the Battalions were either chosen to be part of the Council or they had no more packs left. Hundreds of werewolves packs had been annihilated by the vampires since the First War. Children were orphaned. Centuries passed, there were still no signs of peace between vampi
Mira swerved her motorbike off road from the main road. It had been a very quiet night. Barely any car passed by the place. Both sides of the road were covered with forest and nothing else. Along the offroad, Mira spotted the same black Jeep parked. She parked her motorbike next to the vehicle and went on foot in one direction.
Two days later, Mira stood behind a tree, carefully watching the cabin ahead. A red truck parked in front. A man and a woman came out of the truck, laughing and walking drunkenly towards the front door. Mira almost held her breath during the entire moment her eyes fixated on the man.
“I’m telling you, man. Nobody knows where she lives,” Grover groaned for the millionth times. The human was getting frustrated by the interrogation. “We contact her; she comes to the club for the assignment. We make the negotiation. If she’s interested, the deal’s on.”
Mira sat on her motorbike, thinking. She had enough time. Probably more than enough. Mira took out her phone and dialed the number. Her feet were tapping on the floor impatiently.“This is your operator, Jen
“We have a problem,” Liam said, running into the office as Cohen just finished briefing his team of ten Enforcers.“What?” Cohen asked.
A week passed and he only bunkered down in the apartment. For the whole week, Cohen reminized the six months he spent in his wolf form. For six months and the remaining three months, he spent trying to regain control of his own mind. He couldn’t control it fully but it was the best he could do at this moment. He tried to remember the things he did when he was in his wolf form. He didn’t know much about the people he hurt along the way as his memories were too fuzzy for him to remember anything much.
The crowd cheered as he landed another attack on his opponent. He panted heavily before retreating to the corner of the ring. The crowd cheered even more when his opponent collapsed. Then, the countdown began. The crowd counted with the host. By the time the countdown reached ten, his opponent was still on the f
Days turned to weeks. Liam continued to expand his search in the hope of finding Cohen somewhere. He asked the help of his allies to cover more ground. But everyone hit a dead end. It seemed Cohen disappeared in thin air.
The travel to the address of Mira’s safehouse took Cohen half a day. But he was glad for the location. It was far from his territory or his allies. He had to stop an oil tanker to travel to the safehouse. Vincent was right.
Cohen ran and just kept going. He was running aimlessly until his entire body felt exhausted from the running. He collapsed near a river and shifted back into his human form. The shift was proven painful as his wolf still wanted to force him to stay in his wolf form. He curled on the river bank, covered in mud and dirt.
An invisible force dragged Mira’s body to Amanda’s reach. She grabbed the broken glass and sliced her palm before hovered it above Mira’s slightly opened mouth, hoping that her blood was good enough to resurrect her back. Amanda ripped her own shirt to wrap around her bleeding hand and she put her hands on Mira’s neck, enchanting silently and the chain materialized. Breaking this chain had many outcomes. One of them was unleashing the demon wolf.
Damien laughed maniacally as he threw Mira off across the room. His laughter echoed into the throne room. He had just eliminated the last obstacle of his reign. Now, no one would challenge or question his reign. The throne was his alone. He had no more blood related family or relatives. Mira was the last one. Therefore, he became the sole heir to the throne according to the law. He never believed it at first when he read his father's will. His father decided to put Mira's mother as the new Queen and Mira as the first in line to the throne, making Damien the second in line. That was the reason why he decided to torment her. If she w
Vincent collapsed to the floor, looking up to the ceiling as he tried to control her emotions using the temporary mind link. He was whispering to her, hoping her to see the good memories within herself.
She was sitting on the floor before the double glass door. Her hand was reaching out as if she was trying to touch the moon. The moonlight shone exactly where she was sitting. Cohen watched her in silence. Mira had been acting weird since the wedding. At one point, she was looking very happy. Then, she looked distant and sad. He got up from the bed and sat down behind her, putting her in the middle of his legs.
