Dina’s POV
We both jumped up at the sound of an intruder, but after a second, Levi groaned while I turned all shades of red.
It was Michael!
“Shit!” I muttered under my breath, ready to jump out of the tub and hide under the bed. As if sensing my plans, Levi wrapped an arm around me, holding me in place.
“I’ll get rid of him,” he sighed and kissed my wet cheek--- and did nothing else! I don’t know what I was expecting, but that wasn’t it!
Confused, I gazed up at him--- My heart dropped when I finally realized what he was doing. His eyes had turned a bright silver color, indicating that he was mind-linking his Beta.
“What?! NO! Don’t---” I gasped, feeling my body practically burn with embarrassment. I didn’t know much about the mind link, but I knew Michael had the curiosity of a cat. The second he got wind of something, he was going to
Dina's POV“Then we’ll keep it a secret,” Levi’s voice cut through the maelstrom of emotions. Confused, I blinked up at him, not really sure I understood what he'd just said.“What?!”Levi walked over to me and I watched as the alpha knelt before me.“We’ll keep it a secret,” he repeated, his gaze never leaving mine. “You’ll move out. You’ll say the job took too much of your time away from homework. We’ll date, like normal couples and-and--- when the time is right, we’ll---”He trailed off his words as if trying to find the right thing to say. Meanwhile, I took another look at him. He was one of the most gorgeous men I’d ever seen. He had a rough appearance, sure, and his eyes were mostly cold and hard. But they could hold so many emotions too. Like right now. They were alive with genuine fear and desperation to fix what he'd broken. He
Dina’s POV“WHAT?!” Rita shrieked once I told her the news.“Shh! Do you mind?” I hushed her, trying not to let the beaming smile on her face get to me. God, is that what I looked like when she and Michael got together? I rolled my eyes at her overflowing happiness, but it didn’t take long before a smile found its way to my lips as well. “It’s nothing big! I’m just going on a date with Levi.”OK, so I wasn’t telling her the entire spam of “the news”. As I said, I wanted to be fired for a while and date before everyone found out about me and Levi being mates. And perhaps getting used to the idea of becoming the Luna too. And to make matters worse, an alpha didn’t usually mark his mate until she/he had completed their Luna training. AND had the approving signature of the Council. So, we were doing things a bit backward…“With
Levi’s POV“And still no idea how they got in?” I asked, blocking another hit from Mick.“No,” Mick said, who was also my sparring partner this morning. “The patrol was quiet all night, not a single---” I punched him in the gut, before throwing him on the floor. The mat absorbed most of the impact, but he still grunted in pain while he tried to get back up.I might just be holding a little less back than usual. Not only did he let me believe that he and Dina had a thing going on, but he also let me believe that I didn’t stand a chance with her. That she wouldn’t love me back. And my wolf was a little pissed about that.I couldn’t suppress a growl. All that time, trying to hold back and be the bigger person--- for nothing?!That didn’t sit right with us at all!“No breaches, until you called that attack in,” Mick huffed, as he got
Dina’s POV“Is it too late to run?” I asked nervously and Rita had to swat my hands away from my teeth again. She’d just finished doing my nails, but I was still itching to bite them.“Yes!” she exclaimed, pulling me out of the chair and to her closet. “Come on!”I was going to attend the infamous family dinner. According to Levi, it would be our first official date. I was very much against it, thinking it was too fast. And as always, Levi accommodated everything I said and agreed to take me out on a "real" date on Saturday first. However, we ended up spending most of Saturday morning, day, and night in bed ravishing each other, before settling for a movie and a terrible burnt frozen pizza.Yeah, I apparently could burn that too...Now I was a nervous wreck because I was with Rita getting ready. Mostly because I didn’t own a lot of clothes and make-up was a concept foreign to me
Dina's POV“Come in! Come in!” Sally ushered, pushing us ahead into the dining room. “Boys! Girls! Dinner is ready!”“Hey! Levi’s date is here!” I heard a girl call behind us. I spun around, noticing a short girl and a tall boy standing frozen on the steps. Both of them had pitch-black hair and, especially the boy, was the spitting image of Michael.“She’s real?!” the boy snapped, his large blue eyes shamelessly giving me one over. “Fuck, she’s hot.”Instantly a loud growl filled the room. I snapped my attention to Levi, whose eyes now were flickering between blue and gold. I sighed and my wolf mentally shook her head.Possessive alphas! As if we’d give a boy like that a second glance when we have a man like Levi…“Sorry, man!” the boy quickly submitted, exposing his neck. “I didn’t mean it like
Dina’s POVI skipped down the stairs, getting ready for breakfast, when I saw it.There was a package by the front door...I didn’t think much of it. It happened all the time. I even had a firm belief that the mailman was terrified of Levi, which was why any package delivered to this address was left by the door.Dogs and their postmen, I grinned. My wolf scoffed, feeling quite offended. I just had to remind her, that any offense to her had to go through me first. And apparently, that made her happy…I shook my head and took the package into the kitchen. I felt like walking on a cloud. I know you’re supposed to hate Monday mornings, but somehow--- No, I knew exactly why I couldn’t today...Yesterday had been amazing!Sunday with Levi’s family was something I definitely could get used to. Not to mention that Levi made very good of his promise to pay me back for tha
Levi’s POVI could feel her fighting through the bond. I felt her pain, although she seemed to be motionless on the bed. My wolf whined and paced nervously around, not knowing what to do. He could feel that his mate was in pain, but there was no enemy to fight. He wanted to protect her, but there was nothing he could do.Nothing I could do...And then he changed his mood to bloody murder. Whoever did this to our mate, was going to pay! And for once, I welcomed his murderous thirst for blood. I wanted it, craved it. His hunger fed my own and my anger fueled his rage.Someone was going to die...Someone would pay!“Alpha?”It was Mick calling me. I barely acknowledged him there. I didn’t dare to move much, not really knowing what I would do. What my wolf would do.What I would let him do…“I sent trackers to your house,” Mick continued, nonetheless. “We’ll get them.”He wa
Levi's POV“Alpha?”I jolted awake, feeling disoriented and confused for the first time in years. Since becoming alpha, I’d gotten into a state of mind, of never being completely unaware of what was going on around me. Even in my sleep, I was ready for an attack or emergency. But apparently, sitting by my sick mate and crying my heart out, tired me out more than I realized. It was like a dam with years of suppressed feelings, that just broke free and washed over me. Destroying everything inside me. But in a way that still felt good. Cleansing even. I was nothing but empty right now, but it wasn’t bad or lonely, because, at the bottom of it all, there was Dina. She was the first stone of my new foundation! But right now, everything was a blur and even my wolf was still asleep, standing on his legs. I turned around and came face to face with Mick--- way too close to my face!“Mick!” I exclaimed, trying to get him away from m
Levi's POVI roared, making it clear that she was currently insignificant to me.“They-they don’t want her dead,” she screamed, and finally her red swollen eyes met mine. “It-it was for you!”Shocked, I felt my anger dim.The poison was for me?!Why?Had I been the target all along?Had I been looking at this the wrong way the entire time?“They wanted to kill you," Angela continued to cry, as something that looked like regret and pain flashed across them. I just wasn't sure who those feelings were for. "They need her alive.”So, my mate was the target.But---?“WHY?”The question left my lips before I’d even managed to think. It didn't make any sense. Why would they target my mate? What was so special about her? Other than her being the most amazing person I'd ever had the great hono
