Dina's POV

My heart dropped to the pit of my guts and suddenly I felt like throwing up. I hadn’t seen him in over two weeks and, honestly, I could do for another year without seeing his sorry ass.

“What do you want?” I asked harshly while trying to fight every instinct in my body that screamed bloody murder. I was terrified but I refused to let fear control me. Not that anyone could blame me - I think. The last time I saw him, he’d tried to rape me. I wanted to move closer to Rita, but instead, I stood tall, glaring at him with everything I had. I was not going to let him see how he’d hurt me. I would never give him, Dylan, or any other man out there the pleasure of thinking they broke me.

I would never give in…

“I just---wanted to---,” he stuttered and nervously scratched the back of his neck. That was when I noticed that he looked like someone had used him as a chew toy and his skin looked almost transparent.

Alpha put him in the dungeon, my wolf grinned, mighty satisfied with our alpha just then. Hell, I almost felt sorry for Josh - almost! The dungeon was a prison for werewolves and let’s just say that the discipline swerved there, would have human rights activists turning in their graves. And yes, knowing that Alpha Stone had done this to protect me, made my respect and fondness for the man grow even more.

Even if he could be an ass at times...

“I came to say sorry!” he suddenly exclaimed, as if someone had stung him. “I don’t know what came over me and I acted like a jerk.” He rushed it all out in one breath. “I’m sorry, Dina. I’m so, so sorry.”

My wolf wanted to tell him to go screw himself, but I reminded her of what our mother always used to say. If you can, be the bigger person. But live life without regrets…

“I accept your apology,” I answered flatly and watched his eyes widen in surprise, making me think that his apology was sincere. “But that doesn’t make us friends or fix anything between us. I don’t trust you and I never will again.”

“F-fair enough,” he stuttered and took a step back, eyeing me and Rita carefully. “Again, I-I truly am sorry.”

I gave him a slight nod but didn't say anything else. He took the hint and turned on his heels before scurrying off. When he did, I felt a sigh of relief wash over my body and it felt like someone had lifted a burden off my shoulders.

“You forgive him?” Rita exclaimed the second he was out of range and I turned to see the astonishment on my best friend's face.

“Might as well,” I shrugged and let out a sigh. I sat back down and grabbed some grass between my fingers, fidgeting with it. “It’s not like I’ll ever be friends with him again; he ruined that for himself. Besides, if that’s really the kind of man that he is, he’ll destroy his own life soon enough and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop it.” I scoffed as the phantom aches of the past tightened my muscles. “I learned that the hard way.”

I felt Rita sit next to me and comfortingly wrapped her arm around my shoulder.

“Dylan?” she asked, everything I felt right there in her tone.

I nodded.

“I tried so many times to "save" him, but you can’t save people who don’t want to change,” I sighed and threw away the grass. I hated to be reminded of it, but I’d given up on my brother. And although I knew it was hopeless, I still felt guilty. “The best thing you can do is inspire change by being the best person you can be. And, in turn, not let them change the person you are.”

“You’re so cute sometimes,” Rita smiled at me and held me close for a while. I grinned. Who needed a brother when you had friends like her?

“Now come on!” she suddenly exclaimed and jumped up, pulling me up as well. “I need to find the perfect outfit for Sunday and you’re going to help me!”

“It’s in two days,” I exclaimed with dread, knowing what this meant: shopping! I never understood her obsession with clothes. She seriously had an unhealthy obsession with shopping and no matter how many dresses, shoes, or accessories she had, she never had anything for whatever occasion she was about to embark on.

The girl needed help!

“Hmm, I just realized,” she said with a wicked smirk, suddenly sounding way too conspiratorial for my taste. “Alpha Stone will most likely be at the dinner on Sunday.”

Oh, here we go again...

“He usually is,” I replied, trying to sound as neutral as possible, and not give her a chance to score any points in this scheming game of hers. “He and Michael practically grew up together. He even calls the previous Luna, Aunt Sally.”

“So?" She asked suggestively. "Will you be there?”

Did I know my best friend or did I know my best friend?

“Et tu, Brutus?!” I sighed and rested my face in my hands. One thing was the sneers and whispers from the pack members, but her?! “You do realize that those rumors---”

“OK! OK, I get it," she cut me off, holding up her hands in mock surrender. "All I'm saying is,” she continued and got to her feet. “I hope you’re using protection!”

“RITA!” I growled at her. But she just snickered, as she sprinted away.

That’s it!

My best friend was dead!

Dina’s POV“Wake up!”I jumped up, ready to fight for my life as the loud voice boomed off the walls of my bedroom. But my feet got tangled in the sheets and I face-planted the floor. I groaned and rubbed my throbbing nose. Damn! Thank the goddess for werewolf healing. Otherwise, I was sure I would be needing a nose job.“DINA!” the voice called again, annoyance clear in his tone now, and just like that, two strong arms grabbed me and hauled me off the floor. “Stop messing around and get up!”“Wha----?!” I muttered, still half asleep and trying to get a grasp on what was going on around me. Finally, I managed to turn around and mentally let out another groan as I finally recognized who the voice belonged to. It was my older brother – and mock guardian – Dylan. He was running around in the dark, grabbing whatever he could get his hands on and stuffing it into a bag. Now, normal people might become slightly freaked out by the sight of their brother stealing anything and everything with

  • The Alpha's Maid   2: The Alpha, that Goes Bump in the Night

Dina’s POVApparently, Dylan knew where we were going, because I didn’t recognize anything anymore. Now, we weren’t exactly a traditional pack. Our territory had over time merged with a city nearby, mixing the werewolves and humans to some extent. Wolves could, if they chose to, live in the city and still be part of the pack or live in the suburbs. That’s the fancy word we used for the parallel were-society, that was scattered across the territory. The Pack land was so vast, that several of the werewolf settlements had their own zip code and even different dialects. They were mostly run by Gammas or Deltas, who then answered to the Alpha and Beta. And while the Alpha ruled the pack, all the land was private property, making shifting a whole lot easier without having to risk exposure.About an hour out of the city, deep into the forest and on more private property, was the Packhouse, the alpha’s house, and a few other homes for the top wolves and their families. The packhouse once serv

Dina’s POVOh, my goddess!I thought as I replayed the conversation in my head over and over. I had to have heard that wrong! There was no way my brother was going to agree to make me the alpha’s maid!Right?!But then I mentally groaned because I realized--- This was Dylan we were talking about. Anything was possible…“But what about me?” Dylan whined and, with a mental sigh, I chided myself for even thinking that he might be worried about leaving ME behind. In Dylan’s mind, nothing was more important than Dylan.“I told you, I---”But then he was cut off by a terrifying, low growl. And while I wasn’t the one facing off against the alpha, the menace in that growl was enough to make my skin want to crawl off and hide. The alpha said something after that, too low for even me to hear, but I guessed Dylan agreed. Because the next thing I knew the kitchen door opened, and the two men came over to me. In fact, the alpha didn’t stop, until he was standing a mere foot away from me. My heart

Dina’s POVI woke up the next morning with a strange sense of being someplace new. And if you know what I’m talking about, then imagine being a wolf and waking up to that feeling. Everything was… Wrong! The smells, the sounds, the air… Even my body seemed to rebel at the idea of a soft bed and instead, I suffered from phantom aches of the usual springs poking me all night.I scrunched my nose, trying to adjust to the smells. It was like waking up with a hangover you couldn’t remember getting. My body was sore and my mind was blank, with a dull throb somewhere in the back. Don’t get me wrong, though. I slept fantastically!I just wasn’t used to it…I got up and realized that nature called. One look around could confirm that the guest bedroom didn’t have an adjoining bathroom, so with a sigh, I tiptoed out into the hallway trying to find it. I already knew which room was the alpha’s - which I took great care in avoiding - but didn’t show the same concern for the next door. And that’s wh

Or at least that’s how I intended on spending my day when I realized that I had to get to campus, or else I wouldn’t be able to finish my project. Since I was broke, I was dependent on the supplies they provided for us on campus.I got downstairs and although it felt weird as shit, I picked up one of the car keys hanging in the kitchen. I even stood swaying back and forth, debating whether or not I should go upstairs to tell Alpha Stone that I was leaving, but decided against it.As I walked by the plastered wall, I made a mental note to bring home some charcoal pencils. I already had a general idea of what I wanted to do with the patches and grinned. Well, if Alpha Stone didn’t like it, then maybe it would motivate him to buy some paint…Luckily, I didn’t need a GPS, because I had a good sense of direction, even if this was my first time driving to campus. I guess that’s a natural thing with all werewolves,

I mean, sure, I knew they were dating. The guy had practically moved onto campus since I gave him her number and he was always with her whenever I was around. Like, literally, I saw him more than I saw the alpha. They spent every waking moment together and I could see how much she cared about him. Hell, she was falling for him faster than I usually cheated on my diet. But going from that to---MATES!Apparently, Michael had asked her to be his mate and she’d said yes. Dylan’s two weeks had long since passed and just as Dina predicted, he didn’t show up. And none of my trackers were able to find even a shred of evidence that he was still alive. Not that I minded. I liked having his sister as a maid. And that wasn’t going to change any time soon. One, because if she was a target, I could keep her safe by keeping her close by. And second, the second Dylan stepped foot back into my territory, I was going to kill him for what he'd done to his sister. My wolf growled in agreement. What kind of man hits a woman?!And his younger sister at that? He was supposed to take care of her but instead---“Have you tried asking her? Perhaps she knows something?” Mick suggested

That girl could make kings grovel at her feet - including yours truly! - and she didn’t even know it. She was so pure and innocent, yet didn't come across as naive or childish. she was just genuinely a really kind and sweet person, with no amount of sass lacking.I tripped my pen repeatedly against my desk, growling more and more annoyed with myself.
