Already getting tired of being cooped up all day in his room, I made for the door, shutting it with a click. I came out, making sure to look both ways in case of a passerby. I wouldn’t want to start a controversy even before I was introduced to the pack.

I made my way to the stairs, taking them two at a time. I was just basically going anywhere my steps led me, and if I was lucky, I was hoping to bump into Harry. I got to the first floor and decided to take a look, but immediately I looked inside the corridor, I had a change of heart. The hall was filled with people, mostly teenagers and young people roaming about. It was loud, with music blasting from one room, a complete contrast to the Alpha’s wing.

I wasn’t going to risk it, so I moved on. On getting to the ground floor, I made my way to the refrigerator to get a drink, feeling energized as I gulped the cold liquid. Following the scent of chicken to the kitchen (get it, chicken, kitchen), I got to where they were preparing food.

"...so, who is she? I heard you got a new plaything." A deep, husky voice that I hadn't heard of rang from the hallway. It was a male, probably around my age. His voice was low-pitched, like he was talking in small letters, but it still had that authoritative ring. I heard a tired voice sigh. CITRUS. It was Richard. I hurried to the door to unbolt it from its lock. "What will become of Sophia now? I actually kind of like her—she was the only reasonable one among your exes." I yank the door from the hinges, my anger taking hold of me for the moment. It was just at the surface, and it was looking for any opportunity to burst out. If I hear anything about that damn Sophia again, I will scream bloody murder. I glared at the man whore in flesh, not caring about the reaction of the other person. Richard has a lot of groveling to do. At least he had the decency to turn his face to the other side when he saw that my face was anything but pleasant. But how bad is his dating history that peo

"You have a lot of explaining to do, Richard! What am I hearing about a new girl?" An angry female voice snarled. It was coming from the hallway, and she was making her way towards us very fast. Before long, the door opened with a bang, and a mature woman emitting a lot of power and anger walked in, her eyes scanning the room, looking for her target. There was no doubt that it was Richard's mother. He got his brown hair from her, and the delicate features too. Although she was on the shorter side, just reaching Richard's shoulders. She seemed like a force to reckon with. "Mom! What are you doing here? How did you get here?" "What did you think my legs were for? Just because I am old doesn't mean I am an invalid. And don't you dare try to change the topic." I decided to introduce myself to try and take the heat off him. "Good evening, ma'am." I curtsied, just like we do back at home when we greet people older than us. She looked at me strangely, not at all pleased at the intrusion

I held the wall to steady myself, ready to lash out at the person who was obviously blind to see that I was coming. I got the shock of my life when I looked up, and it was that red-haired bitch, Sophia. Her very presence irritated me. I couldn't even hide my scowl, as my lips curled in disgust. "What the fuck is wrong with you? Are you blind?" I barked furiously at her, my voice leaking with power as my wolf came out momentarily. "I am so sorry, Luna. I was lost in thought and I didn't notice anyone there." She bowed her head as she replied in a calm voice, her sentences heavily accented. I almost felt bad for her. She hadn't done anything wrong to me, and here I was, terrorizing her. "What do you want? Richard isn't here". I crossed my arms, trying to appear intimidating. "I know that Richard isn't here, but I actually came to talk to you." What?! I froze in place as I tried to process what she had just said. "Excuse me? What do you mean by you want to talk to me?" My voice did

I entered the hall and noticed that the dining room was already filled with people; hungry people, all seated patiently waiting for food. "Bella!" A loud voice called out in my direction. It was Jessica, and she was waving at me in such a crazy way that I was afraid it would fall. I felt my face flush as several heads turned towards me. "I saved a seat for you." She continued in a loud voice, patting the chair beside her. I marched to the chair she patted, trying to prevent further attention. But it was too late. Numerous eyes were following my every move. Everyone was curious about the fresh meat who had made friends with the Alpha's sister. I got to the chair and threw myself on it, wishing I could vanish. The attention was taken away from me when the food arrived. This is strange. No one waited for the Alpha before they started eating. I kept glancing at his seat in between bites, wondering where he could be by this time that he couldn't come for breakfast. Sophia was sitting w

"And who is the beautiful lady beside you?" The mysterious woman asked, referring to me. She should be his grandma. They had similar facial structures. "Gamgam, meet Isabella. She just moved into the pack." Her eyes darted to me as he introduced me. Her way her jaw was set reminded me of when I met Harry. "And Isabella, meet my Gamgam." I stretched my hands to shake her, but she refuted it. Instead, she enveloped me in a tight grip. She may be small, but she sure is a force to reckon with. Her tiny frame squeezed me to death. I froze for a bit, clearly not expecting the sudden hug. But I soon melt into a hug, feeling safe in those arms. It reminded me of home, of my mom and her hugs. I leaned into it, pressing my nose into her neck as I inhaled her scent. She smelled of drugs and injections and of the hospital. But underneath all that, I could detect a hint of spice: rosemary, curry, and the likes. She finally parted from the hug after a few seconds, after Harry had to tap her to l

I was doomed! Behold my arch-enemy in flesh! Right next to me! ... I wonder what she will be thinking, seeing me with another man. This will just further cement her claims that I am a whore, thereby unsuitable for her son. And nothing I can say now will change her mind. "Luna Betty." I also bowed my head, showing my respect. I may have been physically present, but my mind was working on ways in which I would be able to get out of this mess. A bead of sweat rolled down from my face to the tile. I couldn’t tell if it was the heat or if it was due to nervousness. Or probably both. "Harry!" she replied in an overly cheerful manner, and I was quite certain she did it to spite me. "What brought you here?" "I came to visit Gamgam." "That is so sweet of you. I hope she is doing well. I should go and see her whenever I have the chance." She continued in that sickening voice. Okay, this woman is good. She got me to believe for a second that she was actually nice. "Meanwhile, this is my frie

We were fucked! The number of men at the door began to increase, the pheromones bringing them from every part of the house. And they were coming at us with speed. Jessica looked around, trying to think of a way we could get past them without getting mauled, but no ideas were coming to her. Her twin, on the other hand, was still holding me, but it was obvious he was struggling. Beads of sweat clung to his forehead like a second skin, his breathing becoming more labored. His nose began to flare occasionally, taking huge whiffs of the air. We had to do something fast or else I would get mauled right here. "Shit! What should we do? They are advancing fast on us. And Richard is still nowhere to be found!" Jessica complained, running her hands through her hair. I was afraid that by the time I was through with the heat, she wouldn’t have any hair left on her head. My hands grabbed at my clothes, threatening to tear them. They were suddenly becoming too heavy for me; they were rubbing my s

I pounced on the body close to me, rubbing myself on the person like a Cheshire cat. The scent of CITRUS was very strong in the room. It was Richard, and he has finally come. A smile formed on my lips at that thought. Finally, he was here. I moved closer to the source of heat, digging my nose into his neck and inhaling all of him. I took a deep breath as I inhaled that musky scent of his. I have missed this. The heat began to flare in her ugly head in response to her mate’s scent. I moved closer to Richard until I was so close to him that I could feel every contour of his body. I threw one of my legs over him while my fingers went under his clothes, running through his bare chest, smoothing the spare air that was there. I dragged my hands down, trailing a line from his chest down to his waist. I felt a thin material, he was clad in only his boxers. I ran my hands over the thin material, feeling something obstructing my hands. Curiosity got the better of me and I grabbed onto the obj

My hands were drumming on the table as the lady kept talking, and I tried to tune her out. No matter how hard I tried to concentrate on the meeting, my mind kept jumping to the children I left in the room. I had told Jesse to watch them, but I know he will be of no help. I was particularly worried about Jasmine, the oldest of my twins. She is known to be fearless and has a knack for inviting trouble, even though she just barely clocked 5. Her twin brother, Jason, was equally troublesome, but he was easier to control than his sister. When will this damn meeting be over? This was something I never got used to—sitting down for hours and hearing people talk. Richard noticed my attitude and smirked, "Feeling bored?" He asked me through the link. "You can say that again. I am just worried about the twins. You know what Jasmine can be like." It didn't help that I had a nagging feeling that something was wrong. "Relax. Don't worry, they are in safe hands. My brother is watching over them.

"Alright, the bad news. Your mom is suffering from a stroke." Richard's face crumbled as he heard it. I held him, trying to comfort him in the best way I knew how. "But we are werewolves, Gamgam; we don't suffer illness." He tried to argue. "Yes I know, which is why it is rare. But your mother has been without a mate for a while, and it is affecting her. She is slowly deteriorating." "And the good news?" He asked, trying to gain hope. "The good news is that the operation was successful. We were extremely lucky that we got to her on time. She should be waking up soon." We all collectively heaved a sigh of relief. I could feel Richard untensing at her words. "Thank you so much, Gamgam. I am really grateful for everything." "It is alright." "She is also like a daughter to me, and I wouldn't want anything to happen to her." Just then a male doctor and some nurses came outside. "This is Alexander. He was the head surgeon in charge of her operation, and he in fact needs to be praised.

I woke up with a splitting headache—now that I think of it, I am always waking up with a splitting headache. Anyways, I rub my hands over my sleepy eyes, trying to clear the sleep. Looking around, the sheets have been thrown on the floor during our steamy session. The bed was unmade and rough, and Richard was sleeping on it like that, eagle-spread and snoring. I frowned as the noise got to my ears. Reaching over, I pinched his nose tight, and it was able to control it.I looked around, trying to get my clothes. The red and white furniture is a stark contrast to our black furniture, which reminded me that this was not our room. But that begs me to ask the question, "Where were we?"But before I troubled myself with that piece of information, Richard would know best how to answer it. I need to look for my phone; if I could remember, someone was trying to reach me yesterday. But Richard collected my phone and switched it off.I shuffled to the edge of the bed and placed my legs gingerly

It has been a hassle trying to get Richard to leave the venue. He had gotten power drunk and was crazy about winning. Soon the locals found out that they were never going to beat him, so they got tired, and no one was in the mood to compete again. He looked around, searching for new competitors, but no one was willing to wrestle with the new person. "I see y'all are getting tired of being beaten at your game. But I get it, and I will go. Let me just get my money." Someone directed him to where all his earnings from the game have been stacked. We went over there, and bundles of 10-pound notes were stacked high on the table. "What are you going to do with all that money?" I asked him through the link."Hmm, I don't know. Probably convert it to the pack's fund?" I dug my elbows into his ribs, and he looked at me quizzically, "You know you can't do that. You will be ripping them off of their hard-earned money, and goddess knows they need it. Besides, I have seen the pack's account, and I

The sun had begun to set on the horizon, and darkness was slowly creeping into the place. But that was when the main show was getting started. According to Richard, I was going to experience the Southampton nightlife. The first place we visited was the Duke of Wellington, commonly known as "the Duke of Boots" by locals. The name was given after its namesake’s famous victory at the Battle of Waterloo. It was a formidable timber-framed building with colorful hanging baskets that greeted our arrival. We were led upstairs to the rooftop. It had a section for the bar and for the restaurant. We got seated in one of the chairs, and I got comfortable. I looked beyond the horizon, watching as the night was taken up by the stars and beautiful street lights. I looked up to see the moonlight shining down on us. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the night breeze. "Enjoying the view?" Richard whispered into my ears, and I nodded. "Yeah, it is beautiful. Thank you for today." He gazed at me, his dark

The date hasn't even begun, but overall, I was loving it. My skin was glowing after hours of pampering and care. My nails were on fleek, and even my hair was flawless. Apparently Richard told them to get a hair stylist for me because he wants me to look my best. Like can I love this man even more? He was just too sweet.I was heading towards the inner room to go get my clothes when the head of the spa handed me a bag and said it was from Richard, and she was gone like a flash. I looked at the corner where she had disappeared, wondering why she had given me a bag.I peered into the bag, and I could see black wrap. I was skeptical about it, but since it was from Richard, I trusted that it would be something good. Today has been full of surprises, and I wonder what he had planned. I went to the changing room and brought out the items from the bag, and my hunch was correct. It was new clothes.I tore the wrapper off the clothes in a hurry, my heart pounding within my ribcage, wondering

A date is exactly what I need now. I can't remember the last time we went on a date. As I tried to think of the last time, I was reminded of the first one we went to. It was unarguably my best date ever; not like I have ever had any before that. But he was a total gentleman there, and it was one of the reasons I started falling for him. I wonder where we will be going this time around. Just the thought of it was making me feel giddy. With our busy schedules, we barely had time for ourselves, so I am willing to take this opportunity and enjoy it to the fullest. We took a quick bath together; Richard wanted us to be out of here before he starts getting calls. Otherwise, we may be unable to go after all. "Where are we going to?" I asked him as we were getting dressed. He had been tight-lipped since, probably not wanting to spill. "I don't know, just get dressed; you will know when we get there." "That is the thing; I don't know what to wear. I need to know exactly where we are going

Richard opened the door, and the stench of alcohol hit me hard. I froze, my sensitive nose wrinkling at the smell of the fermented drink. I glared at him, my mouth pressing into a line. I was pissed at the fact that he left without telling me, making me worried, only to come back drunk. "Take care of him." Someone slurred, and I turned to look at who had brought him; it was his Beta and he also reeked of alcohol. "Ian, wait," but he was already off, staggering to his room while holding the wall for support. I was left alone with Richard, so I moved closer to hold and steady him. He was so drunk that he couldn't stand well. My ear pricked when I heard a loud crash on the floor. "Fucking floor, can you just be straight for a minute?!" He cursed at the ground. I was going to help him up when he called out, "I'm okie dokie; don't worry, Luna." I looked at the corridor, and it seems like he got it under control. He had picked himself up and was staggering back to his room. I shook my h

"What was the meaning of that, eh?" I questioned him as soon as we got back home. "The meaning of what?" He asked, like he didn't know what he just did. The urge to roll my eyes at him was so strong that I had to resist it. "The meaning of what happened back there with Harry." "Oh, that? That was nothing." He replied nonchalantly. "Why did you grip my waist tighter when he was around?" "Do I have any reason not to do so?" He replied offhandedly while unbuttoning his shirt. "You are my mate, and I can do whatever I want with you." "I know, Richard, but that is beside the point. You were trying to rile him and make him feel jealous." I argued further. "And so what if I did? Why does it bother you?" "It doesn't bother me, but you have to take into account that he doesn't have a mate, and you are rubbing that fact in his face." He sighed, pausing what he was doing, "drop it, Isabella; it is beginning to sound like you care about him." "What is that supposed to mean, he is my frie
