Raven

Shooting pains woke me up. Every movement I made caused me great discomfort. The brightness of the room made me close my eyes almost immediately. I was able to move my hands, but it hurts like hell.

I tried to sit up from the bed, then realized I was cladless as the blanket exposed my bare upper body. I quickly pulled it up. Where are my clothes?. I held my head with one hand, as one leg made it to the floor.

“Good to see you awake”. I heard a gruff voice. I shifted my gaze to the door. A pair of dark golden eyes pierced into mine. Had he been here all along?.

My eyes widened immediately, as I realized he had seen me half naked. I felt my cheeks flushed slightly. What is wrong with me?.

His muscular shoulders rested on the wall close to the door, as he continued scrutinizing me like a hawk. I felt like a small prey under his gaze. He left the wall, and began to saunter towards me, I held the blanket around me a little tighter.

It took everything within me not to cower backwards. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from him. He frightens the hell out of me, but why wasn’t I afraid?. He seemed oddly familiar.

“I noticed you weren’t healing”. It was a statement, but I knew it wasn’t. I gulped hard, as my body tensed up. Does he know I’m a hybrid? He stood a few steps away from me, and I was glad he did so. His blackish brown hair was longer at the nape of his hair, and it rested on his shoulders.

“Well that’s for later. In case you are unaware, Dorian has given me the permission to use you as my slave”. At the mention of Alpha Dorian’s name, a chill went through my spine immediately. I scanned the room instantly. Where am I?.

I stared at him, awareness settling in the pit of my stomach like an unwelcome guest. All the things I was oblivious to, ever since I woke up, fell into place.

Alpha Vaughan, the Alpha of RedMoon pack. How could I have been so thoughtless?. Alpha Dorian was powerful, but held no candle against him.

Wait…slave? Everything clicked immediately. I was brought here as his slave, all because of what I had done, and a crime I didn't commit. I had been hunted down by Alpha Dorian men, and Riev was attacked, while he tried to save me.

He was probably dead. My heart suddenly sank deeper into my stomach as the thought crossed my mind. I should have listened to him. It was all my fault.

Tears began to fall in drops from my eyes to the floor. There was no way Alpha Dorian wouldn’t let him live, not after I escaped. My only family was no more.

“Crying for that loser?”. He said. Riev was definitely not a loser, he protected me to the end. I felt like screaming it to his face, but he took a step closer to me. I stiffened, and held onto the blanket around me tightly.

He stopped in front of me, and his cologne hit my nostrils instantly. I felt his eyes on me for a while, then he asked out of the blue. He closed the space between us, and leaned down suddenly.

“I don’t plan on letting you go, so get used to being my slave, and forget about him”. He whispered. That was only if I would allow that.

“I will send in the doctor to take a look at you once again”. And he was gone. I sat on the bed confused about what to do.

Riev was gone, and I was all alone in the world with no one to care for me. My heart throbbed painfully, as I clutched it. Sobs wracked my body uncontrollably.

Nothing was worth it anymore. Not me being alive, or becoming a slave to an Alpha, who I knew would make my life more miserable.

I blinked back my tears, as I peered through the window outside. Was that a mountain cliff? A thought made its way to my heart instantly.

The doctor would arrive any moment. With a new found energy I stood up, and checked the wardrobe in the room, but it was empty. I couldn’t get out with the blanket still wrapped around me. I saw a white shirt at the foot of the bed, it smelt like him.

I slipped it on quickly, not wanting to dwell on the fact that I was probably wearing his shirt. The opened window was my only option to get out of the room.

Landing on the soft grass was more painful and stressful than I thought. My wobbly legs led me through the field towards where the mountain stood.

Death was my only solace now.

The wind was more intense, and my hair kept dancing in my face. I didn’t bother glancing backwards to check if someone was after me. My heart began to beat faster, as I neared the edge. I slowed down my pace as I felt weaker. A few more steps, and it would all end.

Relief ran through me, but a tear escaped from my eyes, and rolled down my cheeks before I realized it. All my life I had never lived freely, always in fear of what would happen next to me.

I closed my eyes, and moved my right leg first, but before I could move my left leg, someone grabbed one of my arms with so much force that I collided against a hard body.

How did he get here so quickly?. Face to face I could clearly see who it was. It was none other than him. His eyes in slits.

“What the hell is wrong with you?!”. He rasped out, as if he was out of breath. Was he scared? I saw the way his chest moved up and down in quick succession. From the way his jaw ticked, I knew he was beyond livid, at what I had almost done.

After all, who would want to lose his newly acquired slave?

“Why did you stop me?!”. I bit back, shocked at my own words. I felt more courageous than ever. Maybe it was because I could face my own death. His eyelids rose up a notch, taken aback by my question.

We glared at each other, my body still against his, as he gripped me tight. With each passing second I could feel the tension between us grew stronger.

His powerful aura made me feel uneasy, but I already had enough. He might as well kill me here for all I care, it wouldn’t change anything.

His eyes glazed over for a moment then I knew he was mind linking someone. He refocused his gaze on me, then pulled me back sweeping his eyes over me.

My eyes went over my length. I pulled the hem of the shirt in a bid to cover myself but it was useless. He sighed deeply as he closed his eyes before it landed back to mine.

“You want to kill yourself?”. His voice was eerily low. He was clearly controlling his rage.

“I would rather die than become your slave!”. I spat out, beyond terrified. I saw his dark golden eyes change to a darker shade, as his nails dug into my arm. I had tipped him off the edge, and now his wolf was out!

Before I knew it, I saw one of his clawed hands reach out for my head. He dipped his head at warp speed, as I felt his fangs dig into my exposed neck.

What did he just do?!

I tried to fight him off me, as a searing pain filled my neck. He sure didn’t… He suddenly pushed me away from him, as if appalled at his own action. The pain kept intensifying, with each second, that it made me feel drowsy.

My left hand languidly moved to my neck. My eyes met his panicked face, as I glanced to look at my palm. It was blood! My legs gave out just as darkness consumed me.

Her neck where I had marked her was bleeding profusely. I eased out of my shirt and used it to keep pressure on the wound. Fear crept slowly into my heart. It was different from the one I had, when I saw her at the edge of the cliff.‘I did it for us! She could have jumped off the cliff, if I hadn’t done something!’. Zane clarified. I kept quiet. He was right, she could have jumped off the cliff, if I hadn't intervened at the right time. I mind linked Jade, the pack doctor, as I hurried through the mountains back to the packhouse. “That is not possible”. I muttered, shaking my head. I had seen her wolf before. In fact no one could ever forget that sight in their lifetime. “That’s just my speculation, because I can’t feel her wolf”. My gaze went to my mate’s face and moved back to hers. I held her gaze, and said with certainty.“She has her wolf, she shifted right in front of my eyes”. Excluding the part about the rare color of her wolf. “Are you sure?”. She asked doubts visible in her eyes. “Of course, I saw it very clearly”. She heaved a heavy sigh, as her left hand made its way to her wounded neck. Her bleeding seemed to have stopped. That was a good sign.“This is strange…her body is…is clearly rejecting your bond, and her body is very weak”. She whispered her last sentence as she stood upright, her expression suddenly grave.“What is it?”. I didn’t beat around the corners. I understood the look in her eyes, she was hiding something from me. “She is really a fierce one, only on rare occasions do people s

He marked me! Why would he mark me?! Surely I wasn’t his…“I’m sorry for…for disturbing you”. A scared voice interrupted my line of thoughts. It was a young girl, with an apron tied around her waist. She was obviously cleaning the room, before I woke up. Her head was bent downwards, as she avoided my eyes. “It’s…it’s okay”. I mumbled, discovering she was tense, because of my presence. She scurried out of the room, not sparing me a glance. My eyes scanned the room, and I realized I was in another room. It was bigger, and more luxurious than the previous one they had placed me in.Immediately I knew whose room I was in. Tears of frustration instantly filled my eyes. Why can’t he just let me be?! I quickly dashed my tears away, and sat up gently, wincing at the pain all over my body. Killing myself

I didn’t utter a word as we stared at each other, eyes locked on one another . My eyes peered towards the door, hoping Jade would come in anytime soon to save me from him. I know I was cold to her, but I would prefer her company to him.“She won’t come here”. He said, as if reading my mind. He stood and began to walk slowly to where I stood rooted to the floor. “I…need some clothes”. I stammered, moving backwards to evade his closeness. “You can wear mine, at least you have worn one before”. He gestured towards the huge wardrobe that was opposite the bathroom. He had his hair packed above his nape, and it made him look more like a bad Alpha that he is. I knew his hair would be softer than how it looked. Was that the natural color? “Hmmm?”. I was jolted from my thoughts. What is wrong with me?! He raised his eyebrows at me, still expecting a response from me, but I kept my mouth closed. His eyes lingered on my neck for a few seconds, and I noticed an emotion crossed his eyes for a s

I warned Gale as soon as I entered the office, but halted my steps as I saw the person in the middle of the room.He looked so haggard and unkempt that I hardly recognized him. His clothes were torn as if he had been in a serious battle.“What the hell happened? Why are you here?”. I stared at Skye. He was one of the spies I had sent out to get more information about the dead wolf in the woods. He wasn’t supposed to be here, at least not so early. “We…we were… I don’t know what happened… Kyle…he…”. At the mention of his cousin’s name, I realized he wasn’t in the room with him.“Where is he?”. I asked instantly, and peered at Gale, who was unusually quiet, with a sober expression on his face. “Can someone tell me what the hell happened?!”. I bellowed, frustrated at being kept in the dark. I looked between my beta and Skye. Something was awry.“He…I can’t find him anywhere…we…”. Skye began,“What do you mean? Y

I tried to keep the irritation out of my voice, but it was hard. ‘How could you let her in!’. I linked Hank. ‘I tried! I didn’t want to hurt her!’. He explained. “We didn’t say a proper goodbye the last time”. She sulked, and folded her arms, pushing her breasts upwards. She wanted to impress me, but it was of no use. I didn't find her attractive enough. “To start with, I don't think we have any relationship between us, and don’t tell me you came all the way from DarkValley for your little excuse”. She was definitely going nuts. “It doesn’t matter. I’m here already, but your Omega had to make me wait”. She was having a nightmare.“It’s okay, I’m here”. I said softly to her, in order for her to know someone was around her. I held her close to me, feeling her racing heart against mine. I rubbed her back offering her my comfort, but it felt useless. She shivered, her head on my chest, then I heard a muffled sound. She was saying something. My eyes landed on the new shirt on me, and I held my breath for a while. I raised the blanket above me, and I sighed in relief that I wasn’t naked, but I was on another pair of pants. It seemed his special forte was to undress me whenever I was out. My face flushed red, as thought of him seeing me naked came to my mind. I was supposed to be mad at him, but I wasn’t, and it made me feel angry at myself. My eyes went to the bathroom door. He wasn’t there, and it seemed like he had left for quite some time. Vaughan povIt felt like I was hallucinating, Sierra had been alive all these years? She was considered dead by my father, when we couldn’t find her body for weeks. I mean no one would believe she was alive, after seeing her bloody clothes in the woods. The assumption would be that a wild animal had attacked, and killed her. It took me years for me to fully accept her death in the past. “…my baby girl…”. My mother wailed, as Raven tried to calm her down. “I can't believe she is alive”. I could remember her hate filled eyes when she had spoken to me. Her eyes weren't the ones I was used to, that was why I wasn’t able to recognize she was the one. In fact her hair looked different. She had changed a lot, and the person who had caused all this was the same male witch which was after Raven. “If what Raven said is the truth then you have to go confirm from her”. Riev said beside me, jolting me out from my thoughts. I nodded my head in agreement, and my mother stood up all of a sudden

Vaughan povPRESENT DAY“Why the hell isn’t she waking up, if she is perfectly okay?”. I asked Minka, as she stood up from where she sat close to Raven laying on the bed. “She’s probably taking her time”. She said dryly. “Since she’s obviously fine I will have to be on my way”. She slung her old leather bag on her shoulder, heading to the door. “She should be awake”. I sighed in frustration, tugging my hair. “We should probably get someone else to come check on her if she is indisposed to”. Riev muttered from where he sat close to Raven. Minka halted at the door, and turned around her eyes on Riev. “Yeah, I think you guys should, since this old lady standing here seems like a joke to you”. She said sarcastically, and sent him a glare. “I’m glad you also know that”. He said, not batting an eye at her. “That grit you seem to possess might be the reason you have held on for so long, but trust me it might also be the reason of your ruination”. Minka spat, and left the room. He chuc

Raven pov“Can’t we stay for another night. I kind of like it here more than Dark Valley”. Riev grumbled as he packed our bags. “Something urgent came up. We have to leave immediately”. She said, and opened up a small wooden box in her hands.“Raven come here”. She said gently to me. I got to her front and she brought out the locket chain, and placed it round my neck. “Don’t take it off”. She said sternly. I peered at the locket and realized it wasn’t broken, and the missing part of the locket was there. “What of mine?”. Riev asked, as he touched the locket. “You always treat Raven better than me”. He pouted his lips. “That’s because she is always of good behavior while you are the complete opposite”. She said and pulled his cheeks. “But you are still my favorite grandson”. I continued to stare at the locket, knowing that when the part had gotten missing would definitely be on our way back to Dark Valley. “I wish you guys wouldn’t do”. Alice stood in front of her house, a worried

Raven Pov “Grandma, do you want the syrup?”. Riev asked cheerfully, as he munched on the toast we were having for breakfast, without any traces of yesterday’s brewing anger and stubbornness. I wasn’t too surprised by his calm demeanor. It meant grandma’s spell had worked on him. “Thank you son, Raven you’re barely eating, don’t you like it?”. Her warm eyes met mine, and I shook my head gently.“No I love it”. I smiled at her, and Riev nudged me gently.“Are you okay? You are too quiet today”. He whispered, raising his eyebrow in a questioning gaze. I wanted to tell him that he was the one that acted more differently in contrast to what I was used to, but I bit my lips instead.“I’m just a bit tired”. I muttered, but his eyes lingered for a while before he continued eating. Grandma might have erased a part of his memory but he was still the same brother I knew, always caring. “She is beautiful and so calm”. Alice said from where she sat on the other end of the dining table. “Who did

Raven Pov”You can’t just lock them inside, they are little children!”. Alice yelled from outside the room.“Why are you doing this? They won’t cause any trouble for you. In a few days we will leave”. My grandma pleaded her voice louder and frantic.“I did what I should have done years ago, before you ran off with that crazy wolf, endangering our entire family”. Otto screamed, followed by a rattle of things falling around. “Take out your anger on me, not them, they are innocent in this, don’t involve them in things they know nothing of, please unlock the door”. “You shouldn’t have bothered coming back at all, because I had already considered you dead a long time ago”. After his words there was a long stretch of silence. “Otto! You will surely regret this. It's already in the past”. I heard his wife say, followed by a series of other brutal words by Otto. I moved away from the door as I locked my eyes with Riev as the harsh words continued to fill the air. While our grandma and his

Raven PovFLASHBACKI opened my eyes expecting to see the scenery that was there before I had lost my consciousness, but I discovered it was totally different. Without a doubt I knew I was in another old memory of my younger self, as my eyes took in my grandma who was packing things into a small bag.Alpha Vaughan’s mother had been talking about the locket, that meant I was here because of the locket. I touched my neck and discovered it wasn’t on me. I knew anything that was happening here was before she had given me the locket. A young boy walked into the room and I realized it was Riev’s younger self. He was nothing less than twelve years old. “Grandma, where are we going?”. He asked, and sat close to me on the old creaky bed. He glanced at me and then focused his attention on our grandma, who was more focused on packing whatever could fit into the leather bag. “Help me with that box, we have a long journey ahead of us”. She said, ignoring his question. Riev stood up grudgingly

Raven pov“Do you know if Kyle is around?”. I asked Fia as she munched on the grapes on the dining table.“Don’t tell me you are up to something again?”. She narrowed her eyes, expecting more explanation from me. Nothing ever gets past her. I sighed tiredly.“I need to see the girl in the dungeon”. I muttered, avoiding her curious eyes. It was a miracle Alpha Vaughan hadn’t sensed I was up to this, when It had been disturbing my mind for quite a while now. “Why? You know what she did, and besides I heard from Gale sooner or later she would be killed. Your mate will be a fool to let her off the hook after the chaos she caused the pack”. “That’s more reason why I want to see her”. She might have an inkling about the missing locket, and killing her might lead us to a dead end. I doubt anyone would agree with me on that, but it was a feeling that didn’t just want to go away. “Raven, you can’t trust her. She works for the witch, being a wolf, makes it more spiteful for anyone to let her

Riev pov“Why don’t you stay back today? You have been doing this for days now”. Raven said, moving to stand in front of me. I was preparing to leave for my hunting trip. It was my act of escapism all this while. It was better than anything I could ever do to keep my mind from Clay’s dead body which had been clouding my mind for days now. “I will get tired of it soon”. It was a fact. “But your visits are getting too much”. I said and she pursed her lips at me.I knew she visited me, because she was scared I would do something stupid, but I couldn’t blame her, not after what I did that day with Hank. I had put her on edge, making her worry about me. “You are my brother, and even if it were someone else, I would still act the same”. She smiled faintly, and it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I’m good. Like hell! I didn’t even lose my mind, or acted rashly!”. I huffed, throwing my hands up in exasperation. “That alone is enough to make me more worried. I know you Riev, you shut everyone

The person that did this to him never aimed at making him survive the attack, which indicated it was a deliberate attack.I couldn’t believe the bubbly young man I saw leaving the car with the gifts he got for Riev a few hours ago, was gruesomely murdered. He had been so pumped up about Riev’s upcoming birthday, but it was so saddening that he wouldn’t even be alive to celebrate it with him. I felt Alpha Vaughan’s presence behind me, and I turned around just as I noticed Riev a few steps behind him, with a somber expression on his face. Alpha Vaughan closed the distance between us, and held my hands, while I continued to peer at my brother who looked like the world had tumbled on him. The deafening silence around me made me uncomfortable, and I wish Riev could make a reaction, to let out his emotions, for his calm demeanor made me scared. I felt at loss of what to say.
