~August~

Before I could ask her anything, she zoomed off without notice. Just then, the palace maid returned. Her eyes flashed with excitement as she took in my frame.

“Woah! How is this even possible?” She asked, her voice evident with confusion. I couldn't fathom what she was talking about until she pressed her nails into my skin–the places where I was injured.

I sucked in a deep breath, surprised that I wasn't feeling any pain as usual. “What just happened? How am I not feeling any pain anymore?” I asked, turning to the maid who looked just as confused as I was.

In a fleeting moment, she grabbed my wrist without thinking twice. “We need to leave here right away. I just passed by the palace and I saw some elders gathered around. I have a feeling Alpha Gray is about to say something mischievous to them.”

My breath caught in my throat. Then, suddenly, my body moved on its own. I dashed out of the hut, racing fiercely towards the palace.

I had barely covered a little distance when I ca

Apparently, he had been hiding behind the palace all this while. His breath came out in ragged gasps, his eyes flashing with anguish. “Alpha, it's a good thing you're back. Alpha Gray just left quite some hours ago and I overheard him discussing with some elders that your company must be blacklisted. AZALEA“There’s no such thing as werewolves,” I said for the umpteenth time to my father as we sat in the dining room that evening for dinner.I had gotten tired of his constant rambling about them and how many he had managed to hunt down. It didn’t make any sense to me, a person having the ability to turn into an animal. I had just gotten home from my college dorm after graduation, and the last thing I needed was him lecturing me.“And how do you think I got the money to feed you and the money for this house that I bought?” he challenged, smirking as if he had just trapped me in a corner that would lead me to believe him.“You work other jobs,” I guessed with a shrug. I didn’t want to say anything about it anymore.“I do not,” he argued. “One werewolf is worth tens of thousands of dollars, and that’s only a small size. Six months ago, I was lucky enough to catch one after catching another one a month before.”I stared at him helplessly, not sure whether it really had been a good idea

AZALEAA loud scream tore out of my throat, my voice ripping through the stillness of the night as I felt a searing pain in my neck like fire. The man’s teeth sunk deeper into my skin, and I grunted, trying to push him off. I thrashed roughly against him, but he was too strong, holding me in place as my body trembled under the agony. In the distance, I heard my father shouting my name. His voice was faint, muffled by the pounding in my head and the my own voice blaring in my ears. Then, just as quickly as it had come, the weight on top of me was gone. The man disappeared, slipping into the darkness of the woods as if he was a ghost.I gasped for air, clutching at the wound on my neck, my fingers slick with the warmth of my own blood. Everything started to blur, the tall trees around me spinning. I tried to stay conscious, to hold on until my father found me.“Dad,” I whispered, unable to even hear my voice and doubting that he had heard me.“Azalea!” His voice was closer now, full of

AZALEA“Oh, my God!” I muttered, my hand slapping my mouth in shock. He stood on the other side of the glass, his face illuminated by the pale moonlight and mostly by the light from my bedroom. He didn’t look anything like the savage creature I remembered from earlier. His features were sharp, handsome even, and his eyes… they weren’t wild or feral. They were human. He watched me intently, as if waiting for something. My heart pounded in my chest, my breath catching in my throat.I wanted to scream, to run, to call for my father, but I couldn’t move. His eyes held me in place, and I was frozen, trapped in that moment and not sure what to do.This was the man who had marked me. The man who had claimed me as his own, according to my father. And now, he was here, standing at my window, looking more human than ever. How did he know where I lived?“Open it,” I heard him say as he gestured at the latch that was holding my window closed.I narrowed my eyes at him, shaking my head and scoffin

AZALEAMy breath hitched as I took in the bloody scene in front of me. These people were digging and tearing into each other with a brutality I could never comprehend. I couldn’t help but realize that I had stumbled into something I wasn’t meant to see.My heart pounded in my chest, every instinct screaming at me to get out of there before anyone noticed that I was not one of them.I slowly backed away, trying to move quietly, praying I could slip away unnoticed. The sounds of snarling and snapping jaws filled my ears, making it hard to focus. My foot crunched on a twig, the sound far too loud in the chaos, and my stomach dropped.“Oh, God,” I said as I felt my stomach twist like I was going to get sick. That would definitely get their attention. In a panic, I turned and bolted out of there.Branches whipped against my arms and face as I raced through the trees, my heart hammering in my chest. I didn’t know where I was going, only that I needed to get away. As far away as possible. Th

His eyes shone with terror as he approached me slowly, a mocking smile creeping through his lips.“You're not in the position to tell me what to do, milady. You are mine, and no one… not even my brother can stop me from having you.”He walked behind me, holding my neck in a chokehold and leaning his head against my neck. His lips brushed through my neckline, traveling slowly into my skin. His sharp teeth dug into my neck, and I whimpered in pain as I struggled to get myself out of his firm grip.I felt a searing pain in my neck as he slowly pulled out his teeth from the point where he had bitten me.He let out a smile, waving his hair backwards. “Now I have you. ~August~Azalea was yet to return after a long hour of being away from the ward. Each minute, my eyes were traveling to the door side for any sign of her, but she wasn't forthcoming. I finally gave up waiting. Maybe the Alpha King has succeeded in brainwashing her and giving her enough reasons to abandon me right there on the hospital bed.It wasn't her fault anyways. If I hadn't betrayed her for a worthless and vile woman, this would never have happened in the first place. My heart was filled with regret, and all I could think of was a way to win her over for a second time. If I eventually do, I swear I won't let her off this time. The door burst open all of a sudden, and at once, I turned my gaze in that direction, eager to see Azalea walk in through the door. But I was greatly disappointed when the doctor stepped in instead. He marched straight to my bedside, having some nurses behind him who had some files in their hands. He wore a sad look, making me fear I was going to be dead

  • The Alpha's Human Mate    Chapter 65

~Azalea~As soon as I stepped into the doctor's office, I was stunned to meet Bruce instead. He blocked my path, his countenance a clear evidence of how furious he was. But why the hell was he upset? Did he really expect me to leave August right there to die? I know August had wronged me so many times in the past, but that was still not enough reason to let him off just like that. He clearly needed my help—our help. Before I knew what was happening, Bruce grabbed my hands, lifting me effortlessly towards the doctor's table. He forced me to sit, and when I did, he clenched my face, his eyes burning with rage. I was so terrified because I have never witnessed this side of him before.“You still love him, don't you?” He asked, his gaze suddenly melting, like he was broken. My jaw dropped. “What?” How could he even think of such a thing about me? “What's the meaning of this? Don't tell me you're jealous because of a simple gesture I rendered to a helpless person.”“Your ex lover you mea

~August~“Okay? How about them?” Bruce asked, stealing glances at Azalea. There was something about Azalea's countenance that suggested that she wasn't really surprised anyways. Of course, she wouldn't be. I could remember vividly she had warned me about them, but all I did was take her words as a joke. So I never even expected her to display any form of surprise.I could see the sudden interest spewing from Bruce's gaze, and that gave me an edge to be confident and say what I had to say.“Zoe is not who you think she is.” I began. Bruce crossed his arms, his brows creased with enthusiasm as he adjusted his stance. “Okay, this is what happened. Remember when you locked me up in your dungeon for days. By the time I was released and returned back to my palace, I realized that everything had been turned upside down.”“How?” Bruce and Azalea chorused at the same time, cutting in abruptly.Their enthusiasm was palpable, and I couldn't stop thanking them in my heart for paying attention to

~August~After that encounter with Azalea in the woods, I still couldn't get my mind off her. I know I had wronged her so many times in the past, and sincerely, I was ready to make up for everything I had done to her, including when Zoe was still in the picture. The fact that Zoe and Gray had actually connived between themselves to deceive me and have my pack all to themselves was not just disturbing but also unbelievable.Like how the hell could they even think of such a thing after everything I had done for them? Now I know my palace and my pack at large was at stake, and if nothing is done on time, they might as well succeed in everything they've been planning all this while. The only right thing I could do right now was to seek help, and the only person who was capable of helping me out in this kind of situation was King Bruce. He had a lot of connections and power to himself which would give me an edge over Zoe and Gray, thereby reclaiming that which rightfully belongs to me.But

  • The Alpha's Human Mate    Chapter 62

~Azalea~The more Bruce tried to convince me to believe otherwise about everything his mother had said to me, the more I found myself getting even more scared of my presence in the palace. In just a short period of her arrival, everything had turned upside down. The palace which used to be once peaceful had suddenly turned into a warfront and an argument ground.Frankly I wasn't cut out for any of that, and I still don't understand why Bruce was refusing to see things from my own perspective. He said and did a lot of things, just to make sure that I saw reasons with him to remain in the palace. Well, after a while, I gave up arguing with him. I decided to trust him for his words this time. The last time, I had left the palace back to my house without his knowledge, just because I was scared of facing his mother. And at the end of the day, I almost ended up in the hands of my enemy. I made up my mind to listen to him and remain in the palace. After all, a trial wouldn't hurt.~After s
