Kaylee's P.O.V.

I could feel my body sway with each step Parker took, but I couldn't move it. My head lolled back as he walked with me to an unknown location. Each whispered plea for my survival and each apology that came from his perfect lips sent me further into the dark abyss that was my mind.

Whatever he stuck me with, my body was fighting to reject it. No matter the pain I was in, I didn't want to be put under ever again, and I had hoped Parker knew that. Evidently, he didn't.

He stopped moving and adjusted me in his arms before a gust of cool air washed over us. I heard the door shut after we walked through, and I wanted to let out a sigh of relief that we were home.

"Parker, this way. We need to get her connected, so we can monitor her vitals." The unfamiliar male's voice was calm, but there was a small shake behind it as if he were scared of my mate. My mind began to spin as it clicked in my head what he was talking about. He wanted to connect me to machines…machines that o

Parker's P.O.V. I could still hear her breathing, panting with fear through the open bedroom door as I was tossed onto the couch in the downstairs living room. My body was frozen. Both myself and my wolf were torn and didn't know what to do. She was alive and safe. That had been the objective of last night, and it had been successful. But in saving her life, I cost us our relationship. The horror on her face and the way she desperately tried to get away from me were burned into my brain. It was the worst thing I had ever seen or experienced. Yet, I had no idea how to fix this. "You need to give her space. Let her cool down. She just woke up." Jack said softly as he took a seat next to me, leaving my father standing over us. "No, I need to fix this. I need to explain." I whispered as my eyes stayed glued to the knot in the wooden coffee table in front of me. Kaylee had to know the truth. She had to understand that what I did was to save her life. If she did, then maybe she wouldn't

Parker's P.O.V. Twice. I had seen her twice through the window. The first time she had just been walking by, presumably to the bathroom. The second she stopped. She opened the window and took a deep breath of the cool, humid air. I could see the relief on her face as she enjoyed the fresh air. Her hand moved out, palm up as she tried to catch the drops of rain. For just a moment, she looked happy. Then she looked down. She looked down and saw my wolf laying out in the rain, and the small upturn to the corner of her lips disappeared. I let out a whimper as I tried to apologize, but my beast was still too angry and upset to let me shift back without it being a fight between the two of us. I had cost him our mate, even if it was temporary and even though it was to save her life. He had the right to be angry. 'How is she?' Hudson moved forward, the fur of his wolf drenched, letting me know that he had just gotten done running patrol. I glanced back to the window, not wanting to take

Kaylee's P.O.V.It took a lot of convincing from Parker's mother, or Ma as she continued to insist I call her, for me to get the courage to approach Parker. Seeing him outside in the rain was the final straw. He had sat there for two days while I battled the demons in my head. He only ever stepped away for what I assumed was a quick bathroom break because he was right back within a minute or two.Sleeping without him was the worst. I felt him close, as he was just outside, but not having him next to me was awful. He didn't deserve to suffer and sleep in the rain just because I was mentally fucked up.I had packed us a bag about an hour ago but was still standing in the front entryway, trying to push all the demons to the back of my mind. There was the fear that as soon as I stepped out of the house, I was going to be surrounded, overpowered, and taken back to the infirmary."One step at a time," His mother encouraged from behind me. Kaylee's P.O.V. The walk to the packhouse was tense as our hands occasionally brushed against each other. Each time, it was like touching him for the first time all over again. Sparks shot through my skin and butterflies fluttered in my stomach. Scarlett had split from us when we passed her house, so I couldn't use her as a distraction. My mind was swirling with everything Parker. His touch, his taste, his smell. Even the way he was walking had me ready to swoon. I felt like a bitch in heat. Where do we go from here? Do we start over, or just wait out this tension between us until it disappeared? "We need to stop by the conference room to get permission to stay at the packhouse." He whispered to me. 'Apparently, we go to the conference room from here.' I thought bitterly. I released a sigh as I mentally smacked myself in the forehead. It was like dating for the first time. I didn't know how to talk to him, or if I should. If I did, any number of his pack members could be able to

Kaylee's P.O.V. All at once, everyone at the table started talking over each other. I could hear what they were saying, but it felt like I was underwater. The weight of the situation had me falling against the back of the chair in stunned silence. "What did they do to the Blood Moon Pack?" A deep, familiar voice called out from my side of the table. I couldn't see who it was from where I was sitting, and I didn't bother to turn to look. "They had to have done something, or else they wouldn't be giving the ultimatum of war." "Do we really want to keep a potential criminal in our pack?" Parker's hand was tight in mine, and I could feel him shaking as he tried to maintain control of his wolf. I glanced up at him. If they were going to take me, I wanted to memorize everything about him first. I knew he would come for me if I was handed over to the Blood Moon Pack, but I wasn't sure how long that would take. The last time a group tried to take me, I was held captive and tortured for f

Parker's P.O.V. I saw red. My blood pumped loudly in my ears, silencing the world around me as I held my wolf back from slaughtering the traitor. Jack shook beneath me, his head turned as he submitted, giving me easy access to rip his throat out. Everything in me was fighting the urge to give in and kill him like the traitor that he was. I heard my name yelled out by several voices, but only one made it through the fog. Her soft call to me was so different than everyone else who was yelling or trying to order me to back down. My wolf pulled back in my mind as I continued to hold Jack to the floor. 'Why? Why do you always go out of your way to hurt me? Why couldn't you just let me be happy? That's my mate they're after! Because of you, they're after Kaylee!' I snapped my jaw in his face, satisfied when he flinched away from my teeth as I continued to snarl at him. 'You're a traitor! You're dead to me! I should rip your throat out right now!' The feeling of several arms pulling me

Kaylee's P.O.V. I could see the tension in his shoulders, and as I moved closer, I could feel it in the air between us. His muscles were coiled like an animal ready to attack, and his eyes were dark as he stared at me, sending a wave of warmth to my core from excitement. My arm slid against his wet bicep as I reached behind him for the untouched bar of soap. Parker didn't move as I placed it against his chest and began to slowly clean him, massaging with my other hand as I went. I could feel his eyes boring into my skull, and if it weren't for the raging hard-on he was sporting, I would have thought he was mad at me. "I'm sorry that I'm causing you and your brother to fight," I whispered, wanting to clear some of the air before we went any further. It wouldn't feel right to have sex when there was so much going on and so much unsaid between us. "You're not. We always fight. He is no longer a concern in my life after what he just did." Parker said, and I could practically feel the t

Parker's P.O.V. "Tell him to come back in the morning," Kaylee joked as she moved quickly passed me to get to the closet. A pair of shorts came flying into the room, and I grabbed them mid-air, sliding them on and tossing my towel over the bathroom door to dry. I waited a moment for Kaylee to get dressed before walking across the room to let Gabriel in. He didn't look pleased to be here, and I stepped to the side to let him enter the suite. His large build would have been threatening to anyone else, but not to me. I was almost the same size as him, and now I knew that I was just as strong, if not stronger. "Alpha," I greeted as he strode past. He nodded at me in acknowledgment before glancing around the room, stopping as Kaylee walked out of the closet nervously. "We need to discuss the events of tonight." He stated simply, grabbing the chair from the desk and gesturing for Kaylee and me to take a seat on the bed. It was all very informal compared to normal meetings with the Alpha

Five Months Later Kaylee's P.O.V. I let out a groan as I was thrown onto my back for the tenth time today. Parker had been so proud of how quickly I moved up through the training groups, learning how to fight and defend myself. It wasn't until I was up against him that I got to experience firsthand just how incredibly skilled and fluid Parker was. I knew that from other aspects of our relationship, but seeing him fight and sparring against him myself was a different level. 'You need to focus, love,' Parker taunted as he nipped at my butt playfully. I flinched, my wolf rolling back onto her stomach as I glared at him. Part of it wasn't even my fault. How was I supposed to not get distracted by my incredibly attractive mate touching me? 'Let's call it a day,' I said as I shook my fur free of the loose grass. My attempt to saunter up to him failed as my sore muscles made it appear more like a drunken stumble. Parker choked out a laugh before rubbing the side of his wolf up against me

Parker's P.O.V. She made me promise not to drug her again, and while I wasn't wanting to use it, I still had an injection tucked away in my pocket. Her mother was excited to see Kaylee's wolf, but it was obvious that her over-excitement was an attempt to hide her nerves and anxiety about the outcome of the change. Kaylee was a buddle of sore and delicate excitement as she bounced and stumbled into the forest earlier than she needed to. I followed behind her, my arms ready to catch her if she fell, but she would just dance out of reach and laugh before moving deeper into the trees and underbrush. "You know you're going to be a wolf and not a woodland fairy, right?" I laughed as she ran her hand across the trunk of a tree. "I know!" She glared back at me with an adorable smile. "But that's just it. I am going to be a wolf with you." I dashed forward, scooping her up into my arms as she giggled. "I can't wait to see you, run with you, and feel you. I bet you have the softest fur pos

Parker's P.O.V. Over the next week, I watched as Kaylee did her best to stand strong and smile through the discomfort, but I could feel how much pain she was in as her body prepared for the full moon. It was so much worse than last time, and while I didn't like that she was hurting, I also took it as a good thing. To me, it was a sign that her wolf was stronger this time, that she was fighting to get out and ready to meet her human. It had taken less than a week for the Blood Moon Pack to come to their verdict under their pack laws, and all five wolves, the Luna included, were sentenced to death. We stood tall in the crowd as the wolves were brought forward and placed on their knees before their pack as their crimes were read. Alpha Blake had given Kaylee a quick squeeze on one shoulder before moving forward to stand in front of the accused. The smell of silver and wolfs-bane was strong in his system, and I admired that he was strong enough to dose himself to maintain control. A wo

Kaylee's P.O.V. The trip back to the Midnight Pack was bittersweet. Everyone was tense, knowing that Alpha Gabriel would not be happy that we all went on this rescue mission without his permission. Parker made me ride on his back the way home, and his excitement was pouring from his body. I held on tightly as he dipped and dodged around trees, bucking his back up higher than he needed to when he jumped over things. He was like a puppy playing. Every time I made a noise or tightened my grip on him, he would look back at me with his tongue hanging out to the side, and a large wolfish smile stretched across his face. It was adorable, and while my heart was hurting from having to be separated from my mother again after all this time, I couldn't help but smile back at him. Anytime I had seen his wolf out, he was angry or fighting someone. But this time, he was genuinely happy. I was half tempted to tell him to just keep going past our old pack and take me far into the sunset to live a p

Kaylee's P.O.V. The sound of a throat clearing had me reluctantly pulling away from Parker. My eyes glanced over the tensely reuniting Jack and Kate, who were standing close but weren't touching, to see my father standing in the doorway. His bright green eyes and dark brown hair were so similar to the younger man standing next to him, and I sighed in relief at the sight of Oliver standing tall and unharmed. "Don't worry about me. Just focus on your mate." Oliver said as he moved toward us and dropped into one of the leather chairs to my side with the back of one of his hands across his forehead. "Your little brother was just held captive, but whatever." I rolled my eyes with a smile as I shoved his shoulder with my hand. The burn marks were gone from his neck, and the bruising had disappeared from his face. There was a small twinkle in his eye as he sent a wink my way, and I knew he was happy that everything worked out. "Kaylee?" A small voice asked from the door, and my stomach ti

Kaylee's P.O.V. When we walked through the pack land, it was extremely noticeable how different the two packs were. The Earth thrived around the Blood Moon Pack. The grass and moss on the trees were a darker green than what I had been used to seeing at the Midnight Pack, and I couldn't help but take in a deep breath of the clean air. The pack had moved so silently on the moist, plant-rich ground that, had I not seen them, I would not have realized they were even walking with us. I expected to feel some sense of panic as they surrounded us and led us through the collection of houses, but instead, I felt peace. It was something that I hadn't felt in a very long time. I eyed the large house before us with wonder as we were led inside the stone and wood-decorated building. Although, one could argue this was a castle. Surrounded by mountains on both sides, the pack house was a large three-story building where all of the offices, communal kitchen, and game rooms were, as had been expla

Parker's P.O.V. I eyed the two wolves on patrol outside of their dungeons from a distance, watching and waiting to see if they had a pattern in the way they moved and if they were alone. So far, they seemed fairly well trained. While that wasn't an issue for four of us to take on two of them, it would become an issue if they saw us. All it took was one call in their pack link, and their entire fighting force would rain down on us. We wouldn't have the time to get downstairs and unlock Oliver before their reinforcements arrived. It was a huge risk, but we had no choice. 'Scarlett, Hudson, the two of you have the guard on the south side of the entrance. Jack and I will take the one on the north. We need to stay silent and approach from behind. If they get the chance to alert the pack that we're here, it'll all be over.' I said through the pack link, making sure all three of them could hear me as I waited for each one of them to acknowledge my instructions. With confirmation that we w

Kaylee's P.O.V. It only took a minute for a large brown and silver wolf to come barreling through the crowd. He slid to a halt, sending dirt flying as his wolf reached the border. My hands shook as I finally saw my father in front of me. I had heard about him when I was little, but not often. My mother didn't like talking about him too much. She would normally excuse herself after a few minutes and go cry in her bedroom, thinking I didn't notice or hear her. He had left her pregnant with me and then ripped her heart out to go start a family with his true mate. "You're the Alpha?" I questioned, knowing the answer at the way his wolf let out a small whine in my direction. His large paw lifted from the ground before he stomped it back down as if he were trying to tell me to walk over to him. "Your son, Oliver, is currently being held by your Luna. He was collected by your wolves two hours ago at the border. We ask that you demand his release and stop the war against my people in the M
