Rune’s POV

The room seemed to hum with an unseen force, one that seeped into my bones and made my skin prickle with unease. I tightened my grip around Alora, feeling her shiver against me, her silent tears warm as they trailed down my chest.

I knew what those tears were for, even if she couldn’t bring herself to speak it. Our daughter was still out there, somewhere beyond the reach of this game and we were helpless to protect her.

Alora buried her face in my shoulder, her anguish raw and unfiltered. Her vulnerability cut through me, sharper than any blade, and I wished I could shield her from this humiliation, from the hands of these goddesses who treated us like toys.

But just as I braced for whatever wickedness the sisters had in store, the air shifted once more, heavier this time, thick with authority and an ancient power that settled into the very stones of the dungeon.
