William

When I entered the Fight Club, I never imagined witnessing what I witnessed.

Hours earlier, I had heard my father's men talk for the umpteenth time about the famous Fight Club that operated in an area away from the pack. Everyone seemed not only excited but always expectant at the thought of witnessing the majestic fights that took place there.

The brand-new place functioned as a bar, but this was the face that hid a fighting cage in which werewolves measured themselves in fights that bordered on madness. So, that night of boredom, I decided to visit the Club to get out of the monotony.

No one could deny me entry because I was of age and my beast was out, which made things much more interesting, and I could get away with it most of the time.

I convinced Bernard, one of my father's guardians, to give me the address.

"I'm sorry, but I can't let you show up at that place; if the Alpha, your father, finds out, it will be a problem for everyone," he said, and I smiled amused.

"Fine, don't give me the address; I think I can get it somewhere else, but I warn you, I will no longer serve as your alibi when you want to go brothel to those outside the pack. What's it called?" I asked wryly, and the tall, burly man denied my ruse.

"When you want to be, you're a stone in the shoe," he mused before smiling and then writing the address on a piece of paper. "I didn't give this to you; you don't know the place from me. I'm going to deny to death that I know you, and if we meet at the Club, I don't know who you are. Mind you, you have to introduce yourself anonymously to be let in, as well as use a spray that suppresses odor. I can get it for you, but that will be expensive."

"I don't need to hide to get in anywhere," I told him, and he frowned.

"If everyone sees you, someone is going to go straight to tell the Alpha, and we'll suffer the consequences," he replied, and I smiled.

"I'm not afraid of my father, and I doubt they'll be foolish enough to open their mouths if they want to keep holding the place. I can prove it," I said, and he denied it. "I'm of age; I'm going to be 19. They'll stop the drama when they realize I just want to have fun."

And there I was after bribing the guards, sitting without a mask and without suppressing my scent, showing myself for what I was, and captivated by the woman who had just beaten up the werewolf everyone thought would be the star of the night.

Sage hadn't just been a surprise; she'd been a fucking turn-on.

The girl knows what a good fight is, said my wolf with some awe in his voice.

And that's why I'm going to approach her; I want to know who she is.

So, I waited patiently as I took a drink and watched her come out to talk to the man I identified as the organizer. Then she came out wearing a black eye mask that covered much of her face, but her hair was down and her sweater was open, revealing a slim, fit figure that I was curious to touch.

She went back to her dressing room and then came out with a bag over her shoulder, ready to leave.

Here's my chance, I thought with amusement.

I speculated that I might be lucky to spend the night with this girl if she knew who I was, so I didn't hesitate to accost her, interrupting her walk. I noticed right away that in her dark eyes there was clear recognition, so I smiled, showing my teeth.

"Sage?" I asked subtly.

"Yes," she said in a rich, soft tone of voice that pleased me.

"I liked your fight; the way you knocked that guy out was fun," I told her in a complimentary way and kept noting how good she looked.

She, on the other hand, had the audacity to close her sweater and put her hood up, which made me smile again.

"It's a good thing you liked it; I guess you bet on me," she said sarcastically.

For the first time in a long time, admittedly, someone caused me to genuinely laugh.

"I didn't bet on you," I admitted, and I suddenly cornered her a little in a vain attempt to smell her scent, but I didn't pick it up. "But it was good to lose that money."

"Well, next fight you can bet on me; I promise I never lose."

That was her way of getting past me, but I wasn't going to let her have the easy way, so I grabbed her arm, and she got her guard up, so I let go, and in doing so, I brushed her hand.

The electricity that coursed through us warmed my body.

It was crazy, and I couldn't imagine what it would feel like to do more. Then I saw her sniffing me undisguisedly, and then she pulled her arm away and frowned. She looked at me like I was a target to be reckoned with.

"Sorry about that," I said, giving her my best, most charming smile. "I'd like to buy you a drink and maybe lunch. I know from my own experience that after a good fight, it makes you very hungry."

She shook her head and laughed as if I had told a good joke.

"Sorry, but I'm not seeing anyone, so I hope you have a great evening," she said and immediately left.

I was surprised that he ignored me like that, but I smiled because it made everything funnier.

I paid the bill and went home.

I noticed my parents were gone, so I grabbed some snacks before settling down to watch the past season's football games.

The problem was that hours went by, and I couldn't stop thinking about Sage and the fact that I felt a very strong attraction. Interestingly enough, she was a captivating woman without realizing it, and she had a temper that made everything so much more entertaining.

Could she possibly be my mate?

It was the thought that haunted my head, because there was no other explanation for the attraction and the electric tug I felt when I touched her. It was as if my skin had finally awakened, so I couldn't rule out that possibility.

You need to catch the real scent of Sange, my wolf said with amusement.

"Maybe if I get to smell her without that spray, her scent is that of my mate." I mused deep in thought and listened to my heart as I closed the door to my room.

When my father came home and asked me the usual, I wasn't in the mood for his interrogation about school or practice; I didn't have the mind to answer him right then because the first thing I would admit would be that I met Sage.

So I settled everything and laid down to sleep.

"I swear to the Goddess that I will see her again and find out everything about her. I'll go back to Fight Club, whatever it takes," I said before closing my eyes.

The funny thing is, I dreamed that Sage was looking for me at school to tell me something important, but I could never locate her because I didn't know her face.

I didn't know what an omen that would be.
