Running away was not in my dictionary.
I had learned to face certain situations and avoid others, but I would not run away from a fight at such a vital moment as that, when innocents were in danger. That's why I made William think I was running away without actually doing it.
I wasn't going to leave him helpless with the rogues; he wasn't alone, but he was at a great disadvantage, and I wasn't a fool who would run off crying for help.
The boy may be a haughty jerk, but he's too noble for him to realize it himself, so I like him already, my she-wolf said, and I shook my head at her comment.
Of all the things she could say in this position, I wasn't expecting that one, though the truth was that she was right, albeit that it surprised me. William was trying not only to get me to safety, even though he considered me an outcast, as he had rightly said minutes before, but he was seeking to protect the members of the pack who could not take care of themselves.
That was not only noble; it spoke to the sense of responsibility he had about caring for his pack members. The system within the pack might be wrong, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to stand up for everyone when the time came.
He just showed me that no matter who you were, he was going to be a protector when the occasion arose, and that was impressive.
I hope this doesn't end badly, I thought with concern.
I have a feeling the boy will not only know how to defend himself but will also take advantage of the tranquilizer being slow-acting, so give him some credit and don't underestimate him. Get help and then come back so we can kick some ass, my she-wolf said earnestly.
My she-wolf was right.
I just needed to find a classmate to tell her what was going on and have her tell teacher Conie right away. The problem with that task was that my idea was blocked by more rogues.
They began to emerge from the shadows, and there were more of them than I had imagined.
About five surrounded William, and about fifteen were waiting nearby, so the situation was worse than I could have expected. I noticed that three of them had guns with tranquilizer darts, which did not bode well.
I didn't understand either what they were after or what they wanted to accomplish by violating the treaty not to approach our lands, but I knew this would be bad for the southern territory. If anything happened to my schoolmates, there could be a damn riot, and Alpha Hudson would be questioned for not looking out for the safety of the young people.
It was a very bad situation.
When William whistled, the rogues became alert and started going in different directions, so I had no choice but to stand in their way. I heard William's fight in the background, and when I looked, he was beating up the rogues, for which I smiled, and that gave me the confidence to step out of the shadows and attack a group of four that had intentions of going to the east side.
I'll go to the surface, my she-wolf said, and I let her.
She began to control everything under my skin, so she came to the surface, and I knew it had to show in my eyes. However, at that moment, I didn't care; I just went straight to incapacitating the bad guys, so when I hit one of them in the back of the head so hard that he fell like a sack of potatoes on the floor, the others turned around in surprise.
They hadn't smelled me because the wind direction was in my favor and because the Goddess had been blessed to make the werewolves' primal senses diminished in the rogues, yet this did not make them weak contenders. They had found ways to become dangerous.
"Where did she come from?" one asked, immediately raising his weapon to throw a dart at me.
With the speed that my wolf gave me, in a few steps I approached him and kicked his weapon, then I took advantage of his bewilderment to grab his hands and twist them until I threw him to the floor in pain. I was extremely strong, so I did not hesitate to break his arm. That made him groan and elbow, and the other two who were left came closer.
With my elbow, I hit the sore guy in the temple and knocked him unconscious. Then I got up and gave the other two a fistfest, to the point that it got the attention of three more. I didn't know what they had done, but one of them pressed a button on the watch on his wrist, and all the other watches lit up red.
That's not a good sign, my she-wolf said with a growl.
When I left the last of the four incapacitated, I picked up the device and noticed that the display said SOS. The other three came straight towards me, which made me get up immediately and jump backwards. They were shocked by that move, so they tried to get closer, but I didn't give them time; I started kicking them in the chin to knock them out of the game.
The problem is that I was so entertained that I didn't see the other three who approached and grabbed my arms, which made me growl immediately.
"She needs to be sedated, so grab a gun and shoot her with about four darts," one of the rogues said.
"Only if I let myself," I replied, and I headbutted each of the ones next to me, which knocked them off balance and made them let go of me.
The third one took aim at me and fired a round of darts, but I dodged them all by running in a circle, so the other two got up, and I heard someone approaching. When I sniffed, I realized it was William running in that direction, and seeing that he fell down and passed out, I had to stop them from approaching him.
I had to find a way to finish with all these to give time to the reinforcements to come. I knew well that the whistle that William had made was an alert for his friends; I just hoped that they would not take too long.
So I started punching, throwing, and kicking. I didn't realize at what moment my reality perception altered to just attack. My she-wolf was furious, so she was a danger to the rest. I think that's what made them run away, so they got away from me, and I went straight to where William was lying on the floor.
I checked his vitals, and they were fine; he was just unconscious, so I waited a few minutes, but no one was coming, and I cursed between my teeth because maybe the whistle hadn't been heard loud enough.
What do I do? I asked my she-wolf.
Run and get help now; it's the only thing you can do, she replied firmly.
But I don't want to leave him alone; I told her right away.
Do it; you can run fast and report.
With those words, I got up and ran as fast as I could to the entrance of the forest, where teacher Conie was waiting. I was so fast that it took me no more than a few minutes. I was so focused on what had happened that the moment my she-wolf retreated to my mind so that we would not be discovered, I did not hear the shots in my direction; I only felt the darts hit my back.
When Master Conie saw me, she became concerned.
"What's wrong, Snow?"
"There are rogues with tranquilizer darts in the woods; William is wounded and unconscious on the east end," I said before collapsing and passing out at her feet.
WilliamI felt like I was running inside a nightmare and that everything was going to end badly.I felt caged, and I could visualize the concrete walls closing in to trap me inside the long corridor I was fleeing down. This corridor seemed to be infinite, and I could not see the light anywhere; it was as if the darkness wanted to consume me immediately. As I was about to give up, a light blinded me completely, and I realized that Snow was standing at the end, as if she was waiting for me, and that made me frown, until I realized that a rogue of the ones who had attacked me was ready to plunge a silver dagger into her back.I screamed to alert her, but it was too late, and I only saw her fall as a large bloodstain formed on her dress. The rogue sneered and started running to kill me.A shudder ran through my entire body and I woke up with my heart racing. What the hell was that? That was the question I asked myself before I opened my eyes.I wasn't understanding anything; I just had a
SnowWaking up with William's face millimeters away from mine was not what I had expected. Much less ending up in the school infirmary, so I left the Alpha's spoiled son alone while I went to the bathroom to get my thoughts in order.I didn't know what had happened after I had been knocked unconscious and I wouldn't know how to explain the fact that I had knocked out a few rogues. I was afraid that the Alpha would manage to find out something about what had happened and that would affect me.Relax; nothing interesting happened while you were sleeping, my she-wolf said, and I was surprised after closing the bathroom door. What do you mean, nothing happened? I asked anxiously.Teacher Conie sent a group to look for William and had another group bring you to the infirmary while reinforcements arrived. From what I heard, the rogues disappeared from the forest; they only left the trail of their scent and one of the weapons they shot the darts with, my she-wolf said, and I raised my eyebrow
SnowI went straight to the locker room to change my clothes and grab my stuff to get the hell out of the school; however, I didn't expect William to come after me.I guess the sexy boy isn't finished with you, my she-wolf said mockingly.I shook my head at his tone of voice, so I waited patiently for the Alpha's son to approach. Something told me he wouldn't let me go quietly."Are you going to the locker room?" he asked, and I nodded. "I'm going there too."I nodded without saying anything to him because I didn't even care where he was going or what he wanted to do, so I let him go at his pace."I'd like to thank you for what you did," he said, and I looked at him with an arched eyebrow.I wasn't expecting that one from him and realized he was being sincere, which was quite a novelty coming from someone who had openly called me a pariah."You don't have to thank me; it was what I had to do," I said to downplay the matter and let him go on his way."It's not as simple as that," he sa
WilliamI came home with a frown on my face, and maybe that's why no one asked me about the rogue’s attack or said anything to me about it. I knew well that the guards were quintessential gossips and liked to tease me from time to time, but if they had any sense of respect, it was a sense of respect, and they weren't going to hassle me if I was upset.Which was a good advantage for me. I was grateful for the fact that my father wasn't home and carefully entered his office to access the pack files.I needed to understand a little more about Snow.I knew she didn't quite trust me, which I respected, and that's why she hadn't wanted me to drop her off directly at her house. But my wolf had been too uneasy before when I let her go, so I had been to upset for her to follow.Doing that could mean she would stop talking to me, so I decided to do it in the most direct way possible: looking for the pack census. I locked the door and went straight to the shelves where my father kept everything
SnowMr. Frank looked at me with a frown."Are you okay?" he asked with concern, and I nodded. After getting out of William's truck, my body felt completely heavy, and my she-wolf was too quiet. Somehow, I didn't feel like I had the best energy, so I chalked it up to the fact that maybe the darts somehow did affect me."You don't seem well. I heard there was an attack on the high school. Were you there?" He asked seriously, and I denied it.I didn't want to talk about it; the subject was not only fresh, but it wasn't something I wanted to talk about."No, I heard from a group of students, but I don't quite know what happened," I said to calm him down, and he sighed."It's the first time in decades that the rogues have gotten this close to this pack," he said with surprise, and I was intrigued."Have they done something like this before?""Yes, but on those occasions, they were very careless, and the wolves in this pack were prepared for their attack. This attack seems to have been mor
SnowHow did we get to this point? That was the first thought I had when I looked at the empty bottles lying on the dining room table, a sure sign that Aunt Susan had not only come home late but that she had spent the money I gave her to buy the week's food on alcohol, all for the purpose of getting drunk.Realizing that I wasn't going to wake up for a few hours, I cursed through my teeth and checked the refrigerator for something that might assuage my hunger. When I opened it, I noticed that, instead of having any fruit or vegetables, I only had a six-pack of her favorite beer."I have to take care of the grocery shopping myself," I said wearily, and I went back to my room.I immediately did something I always did whenever I felt like my head was going to explode and I needed to calm down: hug my parents' picture. It seemed like a silly gesture, but it helped control the rage I sometimes got from the crazy situation I was living in.They were a couple who were once the envy of the pa
SnowArriving at the Dean's office, the least I expected was for the secretary to look at me with arrogance. So I gave her my sarcastic smile and let her see that I wasn't at the right time to put up with her off-handed phrases."Come in; the Beta is waiting for you right now," she said, and I sighed.I knocked on the door and walked through as the man who controlled everything here told me to do so.His gaze was piercing, as were his black eyes, so I bit my tongue lest I say something I might regret later. And well, voice. He had a couple of acidic comments about it."So you finally showed your claws?"I didn't miss his tone of voice, and I knew he was teasing, so I didn't give in, and he snorted at my attitude."Why didn't you do it outside of school?" He asked curiously, and I frowned. "If this had been done outside or wasn't caught on camera in front of so many witnesses, I'd possibly let it all go under the table because this is Britney we're talking about: a bully, a repeat offe
SnowThe cheers from the little audience that knew me energized me.So I raised my arms and threw my costume cape back a bit, which caused the crowd to shout again, only a little louder."And now with you: the Demolisher!" shouted the cheerleader. On the other side of the cage entered my opponent, a much larger werewolf and maybe over 100 pounds than I had. People seeing him made a lot more noise, and I understood why.To the naked eye, I was a petite young woman, so people tended to take me for granted, and that made me smile. I didn't need to be smart to understand that the betting board was going against me and that the majority had bet on the man.So much so that the cheers towards him were deafening.Anyone would say he would knock me down with one punch, but if anyone had seen my previous two fights, they understood that didn't define anything. And my opponent wasn't aware of that. The man, who had a tiny mask on, came over and saw me from head to toe, then laughed fearlessly, m
