I was right, that conversation was fucking awful. When Luke told me that the pack had been annihilated I was heartbroken. I knew that dad and Alpha Craig had been killed but I had no idea that most of the pack had been murdered as well. I have been here for two days now and I don’t think I have ever cried this much. Then on top of that to find out that Myles was here in the hospital was even more devastating. At least he was still alive. This is where I am now. Doctor Branson called us about an hour ago and told us that he was starting to show signs of waking up. I am sitting by his side holding his hand. I still haven’t dealt with my predicament with my mate either. I am almost positive that he is going to reject me.

She has nothing to say to that. She knows it is true. This is why the pack was attacked, because of me. I am sure they wanted me for my powers. I really wish I was born a normal werewolf. I feel my hand move and I look down to see Myles trying to open his eyes.
“Hey come on M-Dog open your eyes,” I say.
“I really hate that nickname.” He coughs out.
I can’t help the squeal that escapes from me when he says this. His voice is rough with disuse but he is awake and talking. The door slams open to reveal my brother, Carter, and Alpha Brayden. I roll my eyes when they come barging in like someone is trying to kill us. They all look around trying to figure out what is making me squeal.
“Can you assholes be any fucking louder?” Myles coughs.
“It’s about time you woke up dickhead.” Luke snarks back.
This whole scene makes me smile and I feel like things are somewhat normal. The four of us grew up together. Carter is the younger son of Alpha Craig, and Myles is Beta Jalynda’s son. Yes, I know a female beta is not normal but she was the best. She was also Alpha Craig's cousin so he made her his beta. Myles's older brother Lyle lives in another pack with his mate.
Her pack is in Idaho and he decided to move there to be with her. Plus I know that the alpha there made him his beta so it worked out well for him. Their dad died in a rogue attack before I was born. All I knew was his stepdad and he is creepy as fuck. I always hated being around him. I know that the boys didn’t like or really trust him either, well except for Morrison. Morrison was another one I thought was creepy as fuck and went out of my way to not be around.
“Hey, pinkie can I have my hand back?” Myles asked.
“Fine and stop calling me that M-Dog,” I answer.
He grumbles at me but this is how we act around each other. I hear a deep voice laugh and I know it is Brayden. I try not to be around him too much but he seems to find me a lot. I don’t want to get attached and be let down. I decided a while ago that I don’t need a mate. I had seen a girl I know get rejected and saw how much it hurt. Yeah, I want no part of that.
“Myles, what happened?” I asked.
“Let me recover some more and I will tell you guys everything.” He replies.
I nod my head and we all sit there talking. I had no idea that they knew Alpha Brayden as they did. I think it is great that they made friends outside of our pack. I wish I had more friends but I chose to be by myself. From a young age, I knew I was different. While no one was outright nasty to me or bullied me I saw how they looked at me. I kept to myself all during my school years and mostly stayed in my room or the library when other packs would come to visit. I knew that it wasn’t my fault that mom had died in that attack but I still felt like it was. I also knew I remember smelling a very familiar scent before she cast her spell that made me sleep so she could hide me. It was a very distinct scent but I couldn’t place where I had smelled it before. I swear it smelled like Morrison but when I woke up the next day and Carter was there I didn’t smell that same scent. That's what didn’t make sense since Morrison and Carter are brothers. They should have the same scent. I jump when I feel sparks shoot up my arm.
“Sorry angel but I have been trying to get your attention for twenty minutes now.” Alpha Brayden says.
I can feel my face heat up when he says this. Plus that fact that he called me that again. He has been calling me that for the last two days and I am not sure why. We have not really spoken since I got here.
“I am sorry I was lost in my own head. Sadly his happens a lot.” I admit.
“It is ok angel.” He replied.
I smile at him and hurriedly leave the room. I let out a breath when I run into a wall and fell on my ass. I look up but it is not a wall just Beta Kenrick. I see a smile on his face. This asshole thinks it is funny. I get up and stand there in a staredown with him.
“Sorry, luna but you did run into me.” Beta Kendrick says.
“Yes, I wasn’t paying attention so I am also sorry. Please don’t call me luna since I am not your packs or any other packs luna.” I state.
I push past him before he can say anything to me and shut the door to my room. I decided that I will have my dinner brought up to me so I can avoid Alpha Brayden. I wish I could be his mate but he deserves a full-blood she-wolf, not some hybrid freak. I wipe the few tears that have slipped out of my eyes away and sit down on the couch.
“Why are you hiding in your room?” Luke asks.
He found me after I didn’t show up for dinner. I roll my eyes at him.
“I am not hiding,” I remark.
“Kendrick said that he literally ran into you earlier and you asked him not to call you luna.” Luke points out.
“That’s because I am not a luna,” I comment.
“Aliya…” Luke starts.
“No this can’t happen. I don’t want a mate and I don’t deserve one.” I add.
Luke doesn’t say anything after I tell him this. We have argued about this before. I had given up on finding my mate years ago. Mom had explained to both of us that fae is able to find their mate at any age. They only need to either look at them or touch them to know. She also explained that angels are able to find their mate when they turn 14 years old. Werewolves are able to find their mates when they turn 18 and ironically that is also when they get their wolves. I however got my wolf at 16, but still hadn’t found my mate when I turned 18. Then that night happened. I had no idea who he was but I made sure that he didn’t see me either. It had worked out until now. I know I should reject him but I can’t put either of us through that much pain. I decide to act as if he doesn’t affect me and maybe he will get so fed up that he rejects me. I already know that it is coming that is why I don’t understand why he is being all sweet and he even gave me a sweet nickname. Luke and I talk for a while but he soon leaves as I can tell he is tired. They are supposed to let Myles out of the hospital tomorrow and I know that we are planning on talking to him a day or two after that. Alpha Brayden wants him to rest before our big talk. I feel bad for Haven that I can’t accept our mate but this is the way it has to be. I have already made plans to leave anyway. As soon as I hear what Myles has to say I am leaving. I am not going to place this pack in danger. I know that this rogue pack wants me and I plan on making it hard for them to find me. I think it’s time I do a bit of world travel.

Brayden It has been three days and I am at a loss as to what to do. Aliya has been both avoiding me and ignoring me unless she is forced to talk to me. Aliya As soon as I opened my eyes I had to close them again. I don’t remember the light in my room being this fucking bright. I tried to sit up but laid right back down again when my head felt like it was going to explode. Aliya I slowly wake up and when I go to move a shooting pain travels down my arm. I try to move my shoulder only to find it in a sling. I look around and that is when I realize that I am again in a hospital bed. I close my eyes and think. I remember waking up in Brayden’s bed. I climbed out of it and made my way down to my room.
