Chapter 18

“What did you think?” Thomas asks as we leave the café. “Was the food to your liking?”

“It was right up my alley,” I answer. “I really liked it.”

Breakfast with him was an enjoyable event but at the same time, I’m afraid of having too much fun because I don’t want to give the wrong impression, and there’s also the part of me that doesn’t want to be emotionally available to anyone.

Thomas seems like a nice guy but I have way too much shit going on in my life right now.

“Maybe we can do this some other time,” he suggests.

“Sure,” I reply, knowing that I’ll probably say no the next time he asks.

We walk alongside each other. It’s very peaceful. He’s a calm person and I like that about him. I have to admit that there’s a lot more about him that I like but now is just not a good time in my life. I don’t mind having a friend but I can sense that he probably wants more than that with me.

I can tell he’s interested, and I’m flattered. I really am.
