"So what you're telling me is that the woman is working with rogues, and she is still in this pack?" My father asked in an extremely calm voice, which had me squinting my eyes.

"Yes." I placed my hands on the boardroom table, looking around at the elders, my mom, and my father, who seemed to be slowly losing his cool. Sure enough, he let out a low, threatening rumble, pushing his chair backward in a flash.

"How dare you put everyone in this pack in real danger?" He demanded, his wolf surfacing.

"Calm down, Jaxon." Mom put her hand on the side of his hand while she remained seated.

"No, Scarlett, your son doesn't clearly realize that he is the alpha now!" He shouted, looking at me.

"With all due respect, father, I am doing what I think is best for this pack." I spoke slowly and in a cool manner, trying so hard not to raise my voice at him. I respected him, but I couldn't promise to keep my composure if he crossed a line.
