CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE

LANDON:

I put my phone away, a rush of anger traveling through me after receiving that infuriating piece of information. How could she so blatantly defy my wishes shortly after I had explained my boundaries to her? Did she not respect my feelings, or was she merely being stubborn?

Turning my attention to the man suspended by chains from the ceiling, I inspected his bandages and slapped him across the face, hard. He was clearly in a weakened state, having been injected with a combination of wolfsbane and silver, which left him vulnerable. His arm bore a bandage from an earlier altercation.

"Now, where were we?" I questioned as I selected a knife from the metal table. Testing its sharpness against the harsh light of the bare bulb, I positioned myself in front of the bound man. His condition had deteriorated significantly. His dissatisfaction over Cross and me ambushing him as he left his boyfriend's house was evident, to say the least.
