LANDON:

I was on my way home when her scent reached me. An irresistible pull that I couldn't ignore. Simultaneously, as I grappled with this unexpected sensation, Cross sent me all the information he had gathered about her. Venita Lowell, a mysterious woman, definitely too young to be a mother, especially one who seemed unaware of the child's father. Fascinating.

Her case had grabbed the attention of the police, the local hospital, and even the press until it eventually quieted down. That meant I wouldn't easily get a meaningful answer from her about how she conceived Sasha. I could still try. Who knows? Or, it could be a case I was going to work on my own if she proves to be useless. Just great!

I was parked by the side of the road, scrolling through Venita's background information on my tablet. As I went through the details, a faint, pleasing scent drifted into my senses. It was like a gentle floral breeze, reaching out and entwining itself around me.

Unexpectedly, this subtle arom

VENITA:My mind was in chaos, rendering comprehension of my surroundings or even coherent thoughts nearly impossible. All I knew was an overwhelming desire, an urge to be close to this man. It felt like an addiction, a craving I couldn't ignore. Caught in this dilemma, torn between my principles, self-respect, and this irresistible attraction, words failed to form in my mouth. He leaned in so close that the tip of his nose brushed against mine, the proximity electrifying. "I'll make the choice for you then," he declared, a teasing tone in his voice as he pulled back. A frustrated whimper escaped me just as I heard the car's engine roar to life, indicating our uncertain journey.'Stop him, Venita. Say something, girl!' my brain scolded. Yet, I remained quiet, stealing glances at him as he sped away. My eyes were fixed on the veins that branched from his hands, tightly gripping the wheel, their vividness straining against his skin all the way up to his elbow where his white shirt was ne

LANDON:Who was being the irresponsible one by losing control? Me.My wolf moaned in excitement, threatening to overtake my human side if I didn't speed up things. He was losing his patience, and yearning pleasure, while I battled with the thought of backing out.Her lips, warm and satisfying, sent a rush of excitement through me. The faint tang of alcohol lingered on her breath, yet her mouth held a delightful blend of strawberry and something sweet like cake. This only fueled the intensity of our kiss, a devouring exchange of every corner, as our tongues danced in happiness. Venita let out a slow moan. She reached for my hair and weaved her hands through it, tugging at the middle. The struggle was there—Each passing moment felt like a relentless test of my willpower. With deliberate care, I tentatively touched the edge of her gown, slipping my hands beneath it, fingers grazing her soft, bare skin. The warmth just below her hips was a sweet torment, and I traced my touch upwards, fo

VENITA:My entire body felt like it was on the brink of bursting when he suddenly stopped. Yeah, the pain was there, intense and raw, but the pleasure was so much more overpowering. What got on my nerves was that he decided to start chit-chatting right at that very moment. Not just any chit-chat, either. It was a touchy subject, and I'd rather sweep that conversation under the rug.Landon was the closest I'd ever been to a guy. Besides those few moments of pleasure by myself, I'd never let any guy touch me. But with Landon, it was an incredible and comforting experience, one that I truly wouldn't regret. The connection we had was something special, even with the numerous complicated emotions it brought. It marked a new and exhilarating chapter in my life, and I was eager to see how it would unfold. That mix of emotions—excitement, fear, and curiosity—was a whirlpool inside me, ready to dive into the unknown. When he slammed into the headboard, I swear his eyes seemed to flash red. They

LANDON:Leaving the room, I instructed one of my housekeepers to change the sheets to a fresh set. I didn't want Venita to confront the bloodstains upon returning from her shower. Why did I stop despite her pleas for me to continue? A justifiable reason could be that the blood was disturbing me. As an Alpha, I typically had control over my wolf and trained myself over the years not to be affected by blood. The sight and scent of it usually didn't faze me. However, tonight's events with Venita proved otherwise. Her blood had affected me in a way I hadn't anticipated, challenging the very control I prided myself on. In there, with her, I fought and questioned the boundaries of my own strength and self-discipline. This was a conflict that left me vulnerable, messing with my wolf's instincts, and creating an internal struggle I wasn't accustomed to. It would be bad if this could happen because it meant that I would lose control at the sight or scent of Venita's blood. Why? What was speci

VENITA:The night dragged on, and I couldn't sleep. I wrestled with what I had witnessed, unable to find a clear explanation. Was my drunk mind playing harsh tricks on me? Hours slipped away, and before I knew it, it was five in the morning. Silently, I packed my essentials, got dressed, and sneaked out the front door, the need for answers pushing me into action. Once I was outside, the real challenge began. There were gates and guards at every turn, questioning me along the way. Who needed this many security precautions and for what reason? I was questioned at each checkpoint, adding to the delay. Thankfully, who I was running from didn't catch up with me. Finally, after what felt like forever, I arrived at the final checkpoint. I breathed out a sigh of relief and flagged down a cab. I aimed to reach Simeon's place, take Sasha, and ensure she got to school. Venita!" Simeon exclaimed, brimming with excitement as she spotted me. "I'm really sorry about what happened yesterday," she s

LANDON: Fuming, I couldn't believe she had left without a word. In a fit of rage, I hurled the glass of vodka from my table against the wall. "That little human!" I seethed. No one has ever managed to get under my skin like this. No one!The day had been terrible, and I knew my bitterness had affected everyone around me. The frustration wouldn't go away. It clashed with my usually composed self, stirring up a need to hunt and kill. It was awakening the beast in me. Would this turmoil fade, or was it the beginning of a chaotic phase I couldn't escape? The uncertainty ate at me, and I struggled to relax before my darkness consumed me all because of her.The construction meeting for our upcoming resort had just concluded, and I was taking a moment to unwind in my office before calling it a day. As I sat there, lost in my thoughts, my phone suddenly chimed to life, breaking the silence that had settled in the room. It startled me, and I glanced over at the device, wondering who could be c

LANDON: "Well," I started, pondering how to simplify the explanation for her. I sat down beside her, ready to answer her questions. "You sure are curious, young lady." "I like to know stuff," she said with pride. "Curiosity is fantastic! It means you'll become a clever businesswoman when you grow up." "Seriously?" She squirmed with enthusiasm. "For sure," I agreed, tapping my fingers on my knee. "Now, let's tackle those questions. I'm not married, and I don't have any family here. It's just me, along with my maid and guards. And as for why I have such a big house, well, I just like it this way." She listened intently, absorbing the information. I could see her little brain processing and cataloging the details, already forming new questions. "So, you live here all alone?" she inquired further, her eyes wide with inquisitiveness. "Yes, that's right. I find peace and comfort in having my own space," I explained, wondering how she would interpret that. She seemed to understand, nod

VENITA:I swam in and out of consciousness, my thoughts and vision cloudy. Where am I? My hands gripped cool, soft sheets, the scent of lavender, lingered on the pillows. I remembered a strong chest carrying me. Not carrying, it seemed like we were flying of some sort. That would be crazy with the law of gravity. I also remembered someone pressed against me, soft lips, and that familiar scent that sent me wild. Placing my fingers against my nose, the sweet masculine scent teased me. A heat wave pulled together in between my legs. My eyes flew open and slowly, they adjusted to the low light. I spied a lamp next to the bed and flipped it on. Blinded temporarily by the light, I closed my eyes and collapsed back on the bed. There was a weakness in my body. A faint pain on my side too. The last thing I remembered as I sorted for a way back to the city was being approached by a group of four masked men. I thought they wanted to rape or rob me. But they went on and on asking about something

VENITA:Things with Landon have been...different. Although having him back changed a lot of things, for one, Sasha starting to talk again, he zoned off most of the time. Each time he was in that state and I found him, he quickly recollected himself. As much as I would love more vacation days, Landon didn't allow that. He went back to work after beating the crap out of Jason and handing him over to the cops. Landon, as always didn't let any of his betrayers go free. He rounded them up and imprisoned them while he thought of a suitable punishment. Surprisingly, he submitted himself to his pack. More like asking for forgiveness. Something Landon Kurt hardly did. It felt great seeing this side of him. He was more level-headed. I guess that was what happens when you have a near-death experience. Here he was dragging me to an unknown location. It was so beautiful to have him back."Just tell me where we are headed. This blindfold is killing me," I nagged."We're here," he announced almost

LANDON:"Wow," I exclaimed as I made another mark on the glass, making know that I had been here for exactly ninety-one days. I have run out of everything and even hibernating wouldn't help. I threw a disgusted glance over what had served me for the last ninety-one days. Nothing was left of it except bones which were beginning to dry up.When I went back to the building, Dr. Grant had lazily gotten up, dragging me to the box that held Venita. He shut it before I could fight him off and the next thing I saw was a shockwave bringing everything down and burying us in the ground. Apparently, the box had been designed also to withstand such a blast, and around the building had a ticking bomb and a manual controller which the sicko head had activated."Of there's no evidence, then, they won't have a case," he coughed out before smiling. "My work is done. Now, I can die in peace. However, more of us will stand up in generations to come to fight against your kind. Our story would be told," he

VENITA:Before I left for my appointment with Jason, I headed to Landon's to check on things. Yes, Lanson's house. I took a few of our things and moved back there since it gave me a sense of security. With the situation, Sasha was in no shape to go back to school so, she only had her therapist and Cross training her. Cross strengthened security as he wouldn't take chances having almost died."She still hasn't said anything?" I asked Cross. Mr. Grumpy was more kind and interactive with me after he woke up from a two-day coma."She hasn't. Should we get a speech specialist to make sure they didn't do anything to her vocal cords back at that crazy lab?" He was sweaty, panting, having just come out from their last session which lasted an hour.Running my hand through my hair, "I think it's more of a psychological damage than physical because she spoke to me when we came out of the lab. She only stopped speaking once she was taken to the hospital," I explained."Let's give it time. The who

Three months of having to stay strong not knowing if Landon was out there somewhere. I pray he was. My heart shattered every time I thought about him. My nights were terrible whenever memories of the blast came wrapping arms around me.I stepped up in so many things despite my loss. As the doctors said, my pup couldn't be saved. For the first month, all I did was lie down and cry. I refused to eat or even entertain communication of any sort. I pushed my limits, forcing Leah to search in every corner within me if my pup was still there. She always apologized that it wasn't. I lost my pup and then Landon. Things would never be the same.Since I was wheeled to the emergency room and all attempts to save my pup failed, Sasha has refused to speak. She was assigned to a therapist whom she wouldn't say a word to. I kept in touch with Peter and the companies, he was the a

LANDON:Even though we were lost in battle, Sean was, for the first time making plans about my future. It was funny because it didn't care whether I would survive this moment to fulfill that expectation. All it wanted was clarity of the path ahead."Sean shut the fuck up and stop whining in my head. I need to concentrate. You're not even helping as I'm fighting with my human strength. So, please, zip it!" I scolded, punching another guy in his stomach."Don't shush me. If I hadn't answered you, you wouldn't even have seen the human strength to fight with. So, be grateful to me," he retorted.Meanwhile, Sasha was leading the frontline of battle. She was fierce and intimidating. She hadn't fully transformed and still exacted such power. If she fully transforms, she was going to be a war goddess. Yet, I knew that I was going to get her all the help that she needed. There was no way I was going to make my baby comfortable with this life of chaos. She was a princess and her mother, a Queen

VENITA:When I woke up, my head felt heavy and my throat felt dry. Trying to open my eyes, the light blinded me and I winced in discomfort. The room smelled like chemicals and I couldn't even move myself. Blinking hard, I started to feel my body once more. There were beeping machines and a hand on my body like something was being drawn on it.I heard a grunt almost directly above me as someone freed one of my wrists to use a hand to tightly grip my hair. I winced from the sudden pain and reached to try and pry the hand away when another hand grabbed my wrist and held it against the bed. “I’m almost done,” a low, rapturous voice said. “What’s going on?” I asked suddenly feeling a steady, constant pressure against my stomach. The hand that was burrowed into a fist of my hair tightened. A few more thrusts followed, and then the sound of a disappointed, loud moan, punctuated by something warm started to run down the side of my stomach. The hands released my hair and wrist, and I quickly s
