LANDON:

The haunting howls of Venita reached me, an agonizing heightened wave of pain that stirred unrest within me. My initial intent was not to return home for any reason, especially since I had been preparing to go to my pack for the first time in years. The pull toward my pack felt undeniable, a strong force that hinted at a different full moon experience. While concern for Venita remained, the priority rested with my pack, particularly the new wolves set to undergo their inaugural transformation. I hadn't seen the situation of things, and it was only right I went following the attack we suffered. I feel I have been focused on every other thing, neglecting my primary duty as an Alpha to a prestigious pack.

I had Cross gather supplies essential for pain, food, and random gifts. I don't know why I went for those nonetheless. It made me feel good. My pack was rich. Had everything anyone could desire. Lived in luxury. We were all around prosperous. Don't even get me started on the har

LANDON: When we stepped outside, the cool night air caused her fur to rise. In the moonlight, Venita looked every bit like the magnificent creature I had glimpsed in my dream back in Shanghai. She seemed to embrace her newfound confusion, jumping up and down on her paws. Sprinting from one end to the other, I found myself catching up with her each time. She was like a kid with a new toy, recklessly enjoying the freedom of her wolf form. "What are mine? I mean, I know. But, am I really a wolf?" she asked, her excitement overflowing. Without waiting for an answer, she began howling, a spontaneous expression of joy pulsating through her. Her howls echoed in the night until she strained her voice. I was happy that she embraced this aspect of herself, finding joy rather than fear. Yet, a lingering worry tugged at me. What if she had noticed she was surrounded and about to be shot at if I didn't intervene? I had Cross send Greg back to the pack house for security since I was with him. I n

LANDON: With each cautious step, I surveyed the area, ensuring our safety as we traversed the woods. We remained in our wolf forms, a decision made to heighten our senses and evade any potential threats. My focus was on guiding us back to my house; a place where I could better control the environment and protect us from the unknown danger that lurked in the shadows. The moonlit path was both our ally and enemy, casting silvery beams that illuminated our way but also left us exposed to prying eyes. I traded glances with Venita, a silent exchange of reassurance as we moved with a heightened awareness of our surroundings. Leaves slapped against our furs which bristled in the night air, dust filling our nostrils from each paw that undug some part of the earth we trod on. Approaching the turn in the woods that led back to my house, a subtle bolt of a sense of security hung in the air. It was a crucial juncture, a point where our path took a different, ominous turn. As we neared the fami

LANDON:Venita, caught in the throes of her primal nature, chased after him. "Stop!" I commanded again as I ran after her, but she paid no heed, catching up to the kid and sinking her teeth into his ankle. The boy's screams pierced the night, and I knew the situation had escalated beyond my control. Without hesitation, I leapt in, shoving her hard with my hand. She took a defensive stance, sneering at me. The child seized the opportunity to limp away while I struggled to slow Venita without causing harm. In an unexpected turn, she retaliated, biting into my side, a sharp pain radiating through me. I wasn't healing, a troubling realization that slowed me down. "Venita..." I groaned in pain as she took off, deviating toward the main road. This was a nightmare unfolding before me. She would be spotted by other humans. As a first-time wolf, little things triggered their hunting instinct. On her note, it was the flashlight and calling her a monster that caused it and she wouldn't stop unt

LANDON:I struggled to rein in my anger, knowing that the fury coursing through me had the potential to sever the fragile bonds within our pack, especially with Cross. The intensity of his words stung, each accusation piercing through the armor of leadership I had worn for years. "You brought this upon us, choosing her over your own people. How could you leave everything for that woman with a child? Is our pack going to accept a bastard child? That would bring shame. You sacrificed the lives of over two hundred wolves for one. Look at the lifeless bodies; women, men, and children whose futures were cut short because of your selfish choice," Cross's accusations were like a heavy fog, trying to cloud my mind, each word a dagger aimed at the core of my decisions. I had bottled up this anger and shielded myself from the inner demons, but now it threatened to spill over. The lifeless bodies around us bore witness to the consequences of my choices, the toll of a path chosen with the heart

VENITA:I found myself lying naked in Landon's basement. Chains bound my ankles and wrists, and my throat felt parched. The darkness made it challenging to see, and my body ached as I tried to adjust. "Help! Is anyone out there?" a hoarse cry escaped me, seeking any sign of life. Struggling against the restraints, my skin scraped against the unforgiving chains. Numbness spread, making it difficult to move. Swallowing felt like wrestling with lumps in my throat, a strange taste lingering in my mouth. With slow effort, I managed to sit up, my back meeting the cold wall. The basement had transformed. No weird weapons or wolf heads remained; it was now an empty space with chain loops on the walls. Exhaustion overwhelmed me the more I tried to stay awake. The more I sat silently, chained, the more memories flooded in like an ocean. Memories of me becoming a wolf, my daughter calling me a monster, Landon revealing his nature to me until I lost control killing...The steel door cracked open

VENITA:"I'm sorry about the chains," he apologized, reaching for an oil in the small box I hadn't noticed was placed on the bed. He massaged each wrist with the oil before moving to my ankles, his touch tender and precise, conveying a sense of safety. He returned the oil and sat next to me.Slowly, I dragged my gaze to meet his, searching his eyes for something. Landon was a master at hiding his emotions, but this time, it wasn't hidden. His eyes held sadness and pain."I will start from the obvious. You're a wolf," he announced. "I already told you that during your transformation. Why are you like this?" he asked, "I don't know. We're still trying to figure it out given that your parents weren't wolves, and you weren't bitten. Nonetheless, during when we met, the first stages of carrying out tests on you, we found out that your genetics were mutilated.""By who?" I abruptly asked, surprised at that information. "If I'm getting this straight, you're saying that you carried out tests

LANDON:There was nothing more frustrating than fighting a ghost as an enemy or dealing with disobedience. Venita having access to my basement, despite all the warnings, was intolerable. Yet, at that moment, there was nothing I could do. My plate was full, and thoughts of punishing her for her disobedience weren't a priority.Dr. Grant checked her out with Cross guarding, cautious in case she retaliated. Even if she went feral, I didn't want to see her treated like a slave. I didn't realize Cross would go for that, even though she had a tendency to tear everyone who crossed her path into pieces. Her fierceness intensified with her wolf.Over the next few days, I went about my work as usual, even granting a couple of interviews. I was clear of the virus, and there were no recent deaths. Venita wasn't infected either, but she underwent training to master herself, overseen by Cross and Dr. Grant. Cross wasn't happy, but I didn't care. Dr. Grant was always excited to talk about each encou

VENITA:Mastering my newfound abilities has been an intriguing journey, with each day bringing a mix of astonishment and physical strain. The realization that Cross harbored a profound animosity toward me, added with what seemed like a disdain for the very air I breathed, added an unexpected layer to my training. Understanding the difficulties of my strengths and weaknesses became a mesmerizing yet challenging endeavor. As I fought to overcome the physical toll of each day, the question of whether this transformation was truly worth it stayed in my mind. The daily ritual of ending with sore bones, occasionally broken, and the constant influx of information about my gift raised doubts about the advantages of this extraordinary ability. My mind has been a constant carousel of questions. What if my parents were still alive, what would they have done if they found out about this? Would I have mustered the courage to share the truth with them? I also considered the numerous implications f

VENITA:Things with Landon have been...different. Although having him back changed a lot of things, for one, Sasha starting to talk again, he zoned off most of the time. Each time he was in that state and I found him, he quickly recollected himself. As much as I would love more vacation days, Landon didn't allow that. He went back to work after beating the crap out of Jason and handing him over to the cops. Landon, as always didn't let any of his betrayers go free. He rounded them up and imprisoned them while he thought of a suitable punishment. Surprisingly, he submitted himself to his pack. More like asking for forgiveness. Something Landon Kurt hardly did. It felt great seeing this side of him. He was more level-headed. I guess that was what happens when you have a near-death experience. Here he was dragging me to an unknown location. It was so beautiful to have him back."Just tell me where we are headed. This blindfold is killing me," I nagged."We're here," he announced almost

LANDON:"Wow," I exclaimed as I made another mark on the glass, making know that I had been here for exactly ninety-one days. I have run out of everything and even hibernating wouldn't help. I threw a disgusted glance over what had served me for the last ninety-one days. Nothing was left of it except bones which were beginning to dry up.When I went back to the building, Dr. Grant had lazily gotten up, dragging me to the box that held Venita. He shut it before I could fight him off and the next thing I saw was a shockwave bringing everything down and burying us in the ground. Apparently, the box had been designed also to withstand such a blast, and around the building had a ticking bomb and a manual controller which the sicko head had activated."Of there's no evidence, then, they won't have a case," he coughed out before smiling. "My work is done. Now, I can die in peace. However, more of us will stand up in generations to come to fight against your kind. Our story would be told," he

VENITA:Before I left for my appointment with Jason, I headed to Landon's to check on things. Yes, Lanson's house. I took a few of our things and moved back there since it gave me a sense of security. With the situation, Sasha was in no shape to go back to school so, she only had her therapist and Cross training her. Cross strengthened security as he wouldn't take chances having almost died."She still hasn't said anything?" I asked Cross. Mr. Grumpy was more kind and interactive with me after he woke up from a two-day coma."She hasn't. Should we get a speech specialist to make sure they didn't do anything to her vocal cords back at that crazy lab?" He was sweaty, panting, having just come out from their last session which lasted an hour.Running my hand through my hair, "I think it's more of a psychological damage than physical because she spoke to me when we came out of the lab. She only stopped speaking once she was taken to the hospital," I explained."Let's give it time. The who

VENITA:Three months after...It has been exactly three months since we got rescued. Three months of grief and loneliness. Three months of having to stay strong not knowing if Landon was out there somewhere. I pray he was. My heart shattered every time I thought about him. My nights were terrible whenever memories of the blast came wrapping arms around me.I stepped up in so many things despite my loss. As the doctors said, my pup couldn't be saved. For the first month, all I did was lie down and cry. I refused to eat or even entertain communication of any sort. I pushed my limits, forcing Leah to search in every corner within me if my pup was still there. She always apologized that it wasn't. I lost my pup and then Landon. Things would never be the same.Since I was wheeled to the emergency room and all attempts to save my pup failed, Sasha has refused to speak. She was assigned to a therapist whom she wouldn't say a word to. I kept in touch with Peter and the companies, he was the a

Despite the explosion that shook the entire place, we were now facing uncountable angry-looking masked men taking powerful strides toward us.This was finally the end for us. LANDON:Even though we were lost in battle, Sean was, for the first time making plans about my future. It was funny because it didn't care whether I would survive this moment to fulfill that expectation. All it wanted was clarity of the path ahead."Sean shut the fuck up and stop whining in my head. I need to concentrate. You're not even helping as I'm fighting with my human strength. So, please, zip it!" I scolded, punching another guy in his stomach."Don't shush me. If I hadn't answered you, you wouldn't even have seen the human strength to fight with. So, be grateful to me," he retorted.Meanwhile, Sasha was leading the frontline of battle. She was fierce and intimidating. She hadn't fully transformed and still exacted such power. If she fully transforms, she was going to be a war goddess. Yet, I knew that I was going to get her all the help that she needed. There was no way I was going to make my baby comfortable with this life of chaos. She was a princess and her mother, a Queen

I couldn't muster the strength to save any of us.While I battled with my thoughts, an unsuspecting commotion broke out. "Sasha!" I called out. My daughter had been injected with something. If the substance was making Dr. Grant panic, I had every reason to be beyond worried. In seconds, Landon had snapped the rest of his binds with his already-freed hand. He crouched, carrying Sasha in his hands. I saw his mouth moving but couldn't hear him. The box was soundproof. His expression went pale and I saw his veins pulsing from anger. Before Thronesman could say another word, Landon dropped Sasha onto the floor choking Thronesman. He began to punch him uncontrollably on his torso before throwing him at the group of doctors, shivering in a corner.Grant shot me a displeased look, dropping everything he was doing to step out

Despite constantly falling unconscious because of what was being done to me, I reached deep within me to a place of darkness to keep me awake. When I looked around, I growled so loud that the doctor who had been injecting something into me cowered in fear. "You love the beautiful sight, don't you?" VENITA:When I woke up, my head felt heavy and my throat felt dry. Trying to open my eyes, the light blinded me and I winced in discomfort. The room smelled like chemicals and I couldn't even move myself. Blinking hard, I started to feel my body once more. There were beeping machines and a hand on my body like something was being drawn on it.I heard a grunt almost directly above me as someone freed one of my wrists to use a hand to tightly grip my hair. I winced from the sudden pain and reached to try and pry the hand away when another hand grabbed my wrist and held it against the bed. “I’m almost done,” a low, rapturous voice said. “What’s going on?” I asked suddenly feeling a steady, constant pressure against my stomach. The hand that was burrowed into a fist of my hair tightened. A few more thrusts followed, and then the sound of a disappointed, loud moan, punctuated by something warm started to run down the side of my stomach. The hands released my hair and wrist, and I quickly s
