Chapter 0009

I stood there almost frozen in place while Ethan was standing there staring at me. He didn’t know what the hell I was doing. And I knew that I had to try and think of something quick, but nothing was coming to mind.

Ethan was really confused but I was really worried about everything that he was going to think about me and what he was going to think. So I dropped the shirt that was in my hand onto the bed and I sat next to the bag that was sitting on my bed.

“What are you doing?” He asked.

“I was hoping to avoid this.” I say.

“Summer. Just be straight with me. Tell me what the hell is going on. Why are you packing?” He asked.

“I thought it would be easier than a rejection. On either side.” I say.

“I’m gonna need more information then that. No short ass answers anymore. I want to know what you’re talking about.” He demanded.

“I think it might be best to show you instead of trying to explain it. Because you won’t believe me otherwise. And then you can decide whether you want to stay with me.” I say.

“Alright. Show me what?” He asked.

“In the woods. And clear your warriors away from the area. I don’t want them to see me.” I say. So he nodded his head and I got up and headed for the door.

We walked out the back door of the packhouse and across the lawn and into the woods. We walked past the tree line and I made sure that all the warriors were gone.

So I went and stood behind a tree while Ethan waited. He knew that I didn’t want to get unchanged in front of him. So I took all of my clothes off and I stood there and took a deep breath.

“Are you ready?” I asked.

“Yeah. I’m ready.” Ethan said, sounding a little anxious.

“No matter what you hear, or how much pain I’m in, just stay where you are.” I insisted.

“Alright.” He hesitated.

So I started concentrating on what I had to do. I didn’t shift very often, so it took me a little longer but eventually my bones started breaking and rearranging and my face elongated into a snout and I let out some really loud breaths and a couple of whimpers and screams.

I could hear Ethan start to move on the other side of the tree but I yelled at him to stop.

It took more than half an hour for me to shift and even though I was still standing behind that tree, I heard Ethan gasp from the other side.

I shook out my white fur and I came around the other side of the tree and I looked down on Ethan’s 6 foot 6 frame while he was looking up. I wasn’t sure exactly how big my wolf was, but it had to be at least 10 feet while on its all fours.

Nova was really excited to be out and she dug her claws into the dirt and she shook out her fur again and her bright blue eyes were looking down at Ethan who was standing there looking completely shocked.

I couldn’t mind link with Ethan yet so Nova laid down in front of him so that he didn’t think of her as a threat and she laid her head down on her paws.

He slowly walked towards her and he placed his hand on her head and slowly started patting her and saw that she was harmless. He wasn’t a threat to her, but she was a huge wolf and she was definitely a threat any enemy that would hurt her.

Ethan stayed there patting her and looking all around her at everything. He looked her over completely and came back to her face and he was actually smiling at her.

“Summer. You are absolutely beautiful.” Ethan said in nothing but awe.

That was not the reaction that I was expecting. I really thought that he would be terrified. That he would call his warriors to put me down or something. I was expecting at least a rejection. Not him smiling at me and looking at me like that.

Ethan took his clothes off really quickly and he shifted into his black wolf and he rubbed up against Nova’s face. And she started purring at him.

Ethan started playing around with her so she got up on her feet and his wolf was even looking up at her and thought she was something to be admired.

He started playing around in the little area there that we knew didn’t have any warriors around and Nova was definitely in a playful mood with her mate. But I had to keep reminding her to be gentle. She could hurt him without realizing it. We didn’t want that.

We only stayed out there for a little while and then I went back behind that tree to shift back to my human form and I got dressed again.

I came out behind the tree and Ethan was still smiling at me and he grabbed my hand and we went back to the packhouse.

“Is that why you were going to take off? Because you didn’t want me to see Nova?” He asked.

“Yeah. I thought you would be scared. Most people are.” I say.

“No way. She’s incredible. Bloody playful too.” He says. And I chuckled at that.

“I know. I had to tell her to settle down a bit otherwise she was going to hurt you.” I said.

“Yeah. I think I might have to be careful. Is this why your father wanted to keep you in his inner circle? Because of your size? You could hurt his enemies?” Ethan asked.

“I have no idea. But probably. It wouldn’t surprise me.” I say.

“Well, I’m glad that I got you out of there. I’m not going to exploit you like that.” He said.

“I know you won’t.” I smiled back at him.

We went back upstairs and went to our different rooms because we both needed to have a shower because we were filthy after running through the woods.

After that I went back downstairs and Ethan had lunch ready for us. So we sat at the table and there was a lot of food sitting out that people had bought over.

“I don’t think I can even get through all of this.” I say.

“Well, after seeing the size of your wolf, I’d be surprised if you couldn’t eat everything on this table alone.” He says.

“I know. That’s what people think. I wasn’t allowed to at home.” I say.

“Are you serious?” He asked.

“Yeah. Dad was afraid that I would get fat and no one would want me. Especially my mate.” I explained.

“Well, you can eat as much as you damn well want here.” Ethan smiled.

After lunch I helped clean the dishes and clean up the kitchen and then we went to sit down and watch a movie. Ethan sat right next to me and I could feel that he was feeling a little awkward, but I made the first move and I leaned over and rested my head on his shoulder and he put his arm around me. I never would have taken him for the awkward type. But he was acting that way with me.

We weren’t that far into the movie when someone knocked on the door so Ethan got up and he went to answer it.

I heard him talking quietly to someone at the door but it sounded like it was getting really heated. I was sitting on the couch trying to hear what was going on, but I couldn’t make out the other voice.

I then saw a woman walk through the foyer and come to the living room doorway and she looked straight at me.

“Seriously? This is the little bitch that you left me for?” She snarled while glaring daggers at me.
