Daciana’s P.O.V
Mother and I returned to my bedroom after the elders passed their judgment. She was fuming with rage, but never said a word. We got inside the room and she began packing my clothes into a bag without looking at me. “What are you doing?” I asked her, but she didn’t answer. “Mother,” I called, but again, she didn’t answer. “Stop ignoring me, Mother. What are you doing?” I demanded. She sighed, wiping a teardrop from her eyes. “The Elders just passed their judgment declaring the heir of the pack a rogue. If word gets out to the villagers that you killed your father–they’ll burn you alive.” She zipped up the bag and tossed it to me. “You need to leave. Now!” “I didn't do it,” I mumbled. “I didn't kill Father,” I said with a cracked voice. My mother came closer and hugged me. “No one knows how much you loved your father like I do. I would never believe you killed him.” She spoke lovingly. Amelia walked into the room and found us locked in an embrace. She quickly joined in, asking no questions. There was a knock on the door. Amelia was about rushing out to get it, but mother held her back. “You need to get out of here. That's probably Caleb coming to take you out to the villagers with the guards.” Mother informed me. “But we're trapped here,” I stated. She opened up the window close to the tree and pointed to a lonely track beyond the village. “Run towards that path, and don't look back. No matter what happens, Ciana, don't come back for us until you've found a safe place to stay.” I nodded my head and hugged her and Amelia once more. Caleb continued to bang on the door, threatening to break it down if we didn't let him in. “Amelia, be strong for mother okay? I promise to come get you.” I whispered to my little sister. She had cried once she realized I wouldn't be with her anymore. "Daciana, wait. Before you go," Mother brought out a pendant concealed in her hands and wore it around my neck. "To bring you good luck," she said and kissed me goodbye. I climbed through the window just before Caleb and the guards got through the door. I heard him yelling at my mother, but I didn't have time to stay and find out. I would be of no use to them if I remained in the pack to end up killed, so just like my mother requested, I ran as fast as I could down that lonely path till all that was left was a silhouette of a place I once called home. As I wandered further into the woods, I heard a familiar whistling sound once more. I stopped to look around me. I was being followed, and surely I would be attacked soon, so I dashed through the woods as the moon rose slowly above me. I wasn't able to shake the rogues off my trail. Their hurried footsteps echoed throughout the thick forest, and their hungry growls sent jolts of fear down my spine. I arrived at the edge of a cliff; it was a long way down and I was not ready to take the risk of jumping from a cliff in order to save my life. For a few moments, I was all alone. It was enough time to decide on what I would do next, but my brain couldn't come up with any ideas. The rogues finally picked up my scent and surrounded me at the cliff. They were all fully transformed in their wolf forms, and I knew I stood no chance against them while still a human. “What do you guys want from me?” I questioned. There was a loud haul from behind them. Like they had received a command, the rogues all stepped back and a man, face covered with a scarf, came forward. “After all these years, you still think you’re some hot shot, don’t you?” he asked. His voice slowly faded into an echo in the woods. It was a full moon tonight, yet somehow, everywhere seemed to be darker than before. The unusual darkness wasn't the only thing I noticed. I felt my bones cracking in places they had never been and it hurt. “What do you want from me?” I yelled in pain. My assaulter was at this moment aware that I was about to shift, and he smiled. “Looks like this is your first time shifting into your wolf form. I wonder what sort of werewolf you’ll be,” he smirked. The rogues behind him walked circles around me, anticipating his order and getting ready to strike me down if the need be. I fell face down to the ground, yelling in agony from the excoriating pain of my bones breaking and re adjusting in different angles. My clothes became too small for my body and ripped apart as my wolf struggled to be unleashed. My hands were replaced with claws, and so were my feet. My eyes felt different and my vision more advanced than when I was a human. “Make it stop!” I screamed. I could hear voices, the sounds of the forest, the footsteps of animals all over two miles away from me. Soon, I stood on four feet. The pain of my bones breaking was gone and the injuries I had gotten from branches and trees were completely healed. I felt like a monster and yet an angel at the same time. The power surging through my body now covered by furs, white furs. It was an ecstatic feeling. “A white wolf!” the man declared, surprised by my transformation. “She's a frost demon!” He quickly shifted into his wolf form, his body having a dusty brown color and his claws by far longer and thicker than mine. “Let’s end this quickly,” he scuffed. With a loud haul, he signaled for the rest of the rogues to attack. Two of them jumped on me from behind, but I was quicker than usual and swiftly avoided their claws from laying a scratch on my body. I grabbed one of them by the tail and flung him around in the air before tossing him down the cliff. Another jumped on me from a tree and struck me across the face. I fell to the ground, but quickly stood back on my feet. The rogues only seemed to increase in number and being my first time of shifting, I was unsure of how long I could keep up in my body. Realizing how much his men had failed to contain me, the scarfed man faced me, a smile lingering on his awfully damaged wolf’s face. He must have been in a lot of fights from the scars and marks I saw on his face. Compared to him, I was practically a novice, even with my father’s difficult training. “You should have let us kill you with your father,” he barked aggressively. My body grew weak with every passing second, and when he sensed this, he jumped at me and sent me down on my sides. I stood back to my feet, refusing to give in and accept defeat so easily, but I was no match for him. He landed multiple hits on my body and grabbed me by the neck with his teeth. He flung me across the woods and I fell on a tree, returning to my human form, naked and weak. “Please… let me go,” I pleaded as I lay helpless on the ground. My hearing remained the same after I had shifted, and I could hear footsteps rapidly approaching our fight scene. Three wolves jumped out from the woods and their scent differed from the rest of the rogues, especially the one in the middle. His furs were thick and black and unlike any normal wolf, there was no trace of blood lust in his eyes. He jumped on the man standing above me and threw him across the floor, sending him straight into the stomp of a fallen tree. The other two, both gray, focused their attention on the rest of the rogues and they soon overpowered them, pushing a few of them off the cliff and ruthlessly killing others by tearing them into pieces with their teeth and claws. The black wolf shifted back into his human form. To my surprise, he was still clothed and stood victorious against the leader of the rogues. He said something to the man on the floor as he shifted back to his human form, but I couldn’t make out what it was. He walked back to me. His face was unreadable, no frown, no smile, just the glitter in his eyes that shined under the moonlight. He extended an arm out to me, but I couldn't even reach it. I forced myself up to my feet. My head spinning and my eyes turning in circles. “Are you okay? I don’t think you should stand on your own after such a fight. You look like you’re about to faint,” he said, his voice deep and commanding. I chuckled. “Hi, I’m Daciana.” And with that, my eyes closed and my brain stopped responding as I fell to the ground, unconscious.Milton’s P.O.V She slept silently like an angel. Peaceful and beautiful as she regained her strength from the toil of last night. I stared at her, unsure of what to do while she slept on my bed, and with no idea of what to do when she finally woke from her slumber. The scent of her body differed from that of the rogues that attacked her. It seemed she was cast out of her home. Robert was against bringing her into our pack. He said she was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode, but I didn't care for his opinion. She wasn't mated. I could sense it, and maybe that would explain why I felt drawn to her. She was lucky that I had gone hunting last night, otherwise she would have been dead. “Why are you staring at me?” The voice I heard awoke me from my thoughts as I stared at the lady before me. She was awake, and I had not noticed it until she had spoken up. I was uncertain of how long she must have been awake, but one thing was clear, and that was the fact that she c
Milton's P.O.V Accompanied by Richard and Adam, I walked back to my office, thinking about where she could have gone. She had disappeared from the pack, and this I was certain of when the guards I ordered to find her returned with downcast looks on their faces. “What do we do now?” Robert asked. “If she's out there in the woods, we have to find her.” “I thought you were against keeping her in the pack?” I asked him. “Shouldn't you be happy she's gone?” Robert was a complicated and indecisive man. He had this habit of developing a sudden change of heart towards situations without a reason. In this case, the hatred he had for this lady, Daciana, was still visible in his eyes, but for reasons best known to him, he believed now it was better to have her close enough and monitor her. I waited for Robert to think of an excuse for his decision as always, and seconds later, he began. “She could be a spy. Maybe even an assassin.” He accused her. My eyes closed faintly as my lips
Daciana's P.O.V It was my third day in the dungeon and I hadn't been allowed the warmth of sunshine. I was locked up in a cold dark room with nothing but a candle light to keep the monsters at bay, and the company of rodents to keep me sane. Everyday, for the past three days, a guard would occasionally walk down to the dungeons to ascertain that I was still bound by my chains. After he left an elderly woman would come down with a tray of food to satisfy my hunger. Her name was Elena. She was short and had hips that could barely ease her passing through the door. I was never able to get a good look at her face due to the dungeons' poor lighting, so all I knew about her was that she was a mother of two strong boys whom she said were the Alpha's most trusted guards. Each day she came down, I asked her if she knew what the Alpha wished to do with me, and why he hadn't come down to question me yet. And each day I asked her, she would say. “Milton will come.” Today, I had no reason
Daciana's P.O.V The night after we met, Milton asked me to wait in his chambers while he discussed with the elders of his pack. I was itching to get out of here and return to my pack to make sure my sister was safe. About an hour later, Robert came into the room, his face folded. “The elders asked that you come speak with them,” he said spitefully. I took a deep breath and rose to my feet, following behind him as we walked back together to the meeting room. It was a massive room, enough to contain the entire village, but it was just for the elders. They sat across from each other on a round table, and Milton sat at the end of the room, a table before him. He barely smiled as he watched me walk into the room. I figured he was always like that, but the elders clearly didn't seem so pleased to see me, especially Davies. We had a rough start after his false assumption, and ever since then, he's been out to have my head on a spike. When I was close enough, he raised a hand to
Daciana's P.O.V My third day living as a member of Milton's pack wasn't exactly going as either of us had pictured it over breakfast this morning. I still had not asked him the name of his pack, but I hoped it would come up in a conversation. Some time in the afternoon, I took a stroll through the village square, hoping to buy something for Amelia. Whenever I wanted to get something off my mind, I'd buy her gifts. Her smile whenever I gave them to her always made me happy. Adam told me about an old relic store down the street of the village square. The villagers mostly abandoned and forsook it, but the old woman who owned it never gave up on the secrets her store held. The roof was nearly in ruins, a fallen tree branch resting perfectly above it. The stone facade wall was covered in creeping ivy, and moss grew at the edges of the window frame. The door creaked open slowly and the bell above it chimed gently. Its soft ring lingered as I stepped into the store and closed the do
Milton’s P.O.V The incident with Daciana and Mrs. Molly got to the ears of the elders not long after it happened. I was in my office later that evening when Robert walked in. He was upset and I didn't have to ask before he told me what was on his mind. “She shouldn't be here.” He announced. I watched him pace around the office. He was frustrated by Daciana's presence in the pack. He never truly said why, but he didn't approve that I let her stay in my home. “You might be my Beta, Robert; but you don't just barge into my office like that. I won't condone it next time.” I looked at him, annoyed by his presence. He didn't apologize, instead he walked up to my table and placed his hands on the table. “Milton, why do you want her to remain in the pack? Is she your mate?” He asked, his eyes sternly resting on me. “I don't know,” I said plainly, my voice offering no tone of emotion. He raised a brow at me. “I've seen the way you look at her,” he stated. “You're in love with
Milton's P.O.V “Are you busy?” I looked up from my table, and Daciana was standing by the door. She wore a black dress that stopped above her knee. The servants had made sure she had a different cloth for each day she spent in the village with me. “You look nice,” I said in an even tone. She smiled gently and gave me a twirl when she walked into the office. She was beautiful. Her eyes were a perfect mix of chocolate and gold; like rich, deep pools of Amber. Her hair, silky and straight, was packed in a pigtail. It was brown just like her eyes, and her pale toned skin was light and beautiful as moonlight. “Shouldn't you still be resting?” I asked, my eyes darted towards her earlier twisted knee, which seemed perfectly fine. “It doesn't hurt as much,” she responded, aware that I was staring at her knee. “You didn't come out for dinner.” Her statement came out like a question, but I didn't know how to answer her. I massaged my forehead gently. My mind had slipped
Daciana's P.O.V There was a gentle knock on the door when I woke up in the morning. Milton walked in with a towel around his waist. He went straight for his wardrobe and pulled out a black shirt and a trouser. “You've had your bath?” I asked as I watched him slip his hands into the shirt and plant his body into his trousers. I sat upright on the bed. “Where have you been sleeping?” I looked at him. He left his bedroom for me since the day he brought me back to his pack and hasn't slept in it for a night. “I stayed in the office,” he answered, his gentle voice carried by the morning breeze. He turned around to face me once he was dressed. “Did you sleep well?” I wanted to answer him, but then I remembered that I was supposed to be mad at him for raising his voice at me last night. I looked away and lay back on the bed. I could feel his gaze linger on my body as he walked to the bed and sat down. “Is everything alright?” He asked like he wasn't the problem. I didn't a
Daciana’s P.O.V“You’re weak,” I heard a voice whisper in my ear. It was calm and gentle, like the morning breeze, but it was condescending and taunted me. I felt a cold shiver run down my spine, my world engulfed in a smolder of clouds.“Let me in,” the voice came again, a little louder than the last time. “You can’t do it all by yourself.”I tried to look around me, but I could barely make sense of where I was. There was a tree somewhere in the middle of what appeared to be a river. The Moon reflected brightly on its surface, and the wind carried gently above the waters.“Is anyone there?” I hollered, but no one answered.I appeared to be alone, but I was overwhelmed by a sensation of a strong presence. There was something out there, something with an immense power that filled me with dread. My throat hitched as I took a step towards the tree. The path got sloppy with each step closer; the earth clinging to my feet and threatening to suck me into the ground. I didn’t stop. I forced m
Milton's P.O.VIt had been three days since Adam brought Daciana back to the village, and she was still unconscious.I'd spent those past three days getting to know her little sister, Amelia. She was quite the charmer and had a knock for pranks and mischief. One morning, she walked into my office and leaned against the wall, crossing her arms over her chest with a confidence that seemed far beyond her age.“Are you Ciana's boyfriend?” She asked, her tone as blunt as her words. I raised my head from my paperwork and stared at her. I was at a loss for words. My mind rattled by such straightforward courage and interrogation.I leaned back in my chair and let out a hearty laugh.“Why do you ask?” I replied, amused by her audacity. Her eyes narrowed suspiciously as she stared at me, carefully observing every move that I made while seated across the table from her.“She's always said that boys are dumb. And none of the ones in our village were tough enough to handle her.” Amelia declared,
Milton’s P.O.V“Won’t you go after them? She’s been gone for three days now. Are you not worried?”I stared at Robert, puzzled by his questionable growing concern for the safety of Daciana. He suggested last night that we send out a search party to look for her, but I refused.I didn’t think she’d do something so reckless. I was worried about her, but I was also furious with her. She disobeyed me, roped my best friend into her plot, and ran off into the woods to go save her family. I was angry with her–angry that she had disobeyed me, and likely put herself in harm’s way, but I couldn’t stop smiling each time I realized that she had outsmarted my guards. Her courage and resilience to defile me were truly admirable. “Adam is with her,” I reminded Robert. “I’m sure they’re fine. Besides, I promised myself I wouldn’t get involved in her decisions. She’s not mine to command.” I let out a defeated sigh and reached for a cup of wine before me.“She’s too dangerous to be left alone,” said
Daciana's P.O.V“Daciana. We need to leave, now!”Adam held on to my hand with his strong grip. He pulled me towards the window and helped my sister and I get down from the room. The cry of the angry villagers grew louder and closer. Amelia was shaking to his feet, tears welling up in her eyes as she looked back to our home, hoping our Mother would emerge from the shadows, but she didn't.“Amelia,” I called her. She turned and hugged me, sobbing gently. I ran my hands through her soft, silky hair. It was my fault. I came to rescue both of them, but I only succeeded in splitting her away from Mother.Fighting back my own tears, I looked into her eyes and forced a smile. “It's going to be fine,” I said warmly. “We'll be fine.”“Are you guys ready?” Adam asked, his voice tense with pressure. Even though he tried not to show it, he was growing impatient with our delay, and I could understand why. We've been gone from Moon Valley three days, longer than we expected. Milton must have notic
Daciana's P.O.V“Seize them and throw them in the dungeon.”Those were Caleb's orders before he left us with an army of armed guards and they were all hesitant to make a move. It was either they still had respect for me as their heir, or they feared what I could possibly do to them if I was capable of doing what I was accused of.Adam took a step forward and placed a hand on my shoulder. “Your father trained you for battles, didn't he?” He asked, his eyes scanning the number of guards around us.There were about a dozen of them, and just two of us. “He did,” I whispered back to Adam.He took another step forward and one guard ordered him to stop, but he didn't. “Daciana. Do you know something very important when you're surrounded?”“I don't.”“Always stay calm,” he said with a smile. “When you're calm, you think better, you don’t rush into a fight and you avoid making mistakes.”I took a deep breath following what he said and let the wind gush through me. I felt a sizzling sensation
Daciana's P.O.V “How much further?” Adam dragged his feet through the bushes behind me as we navigated our way through the forest to the path I'd told him about. We made a few wrong turns because I couldn't remember the way vividly, but after what seemed like forever to him, we saw a clearing that ran into the Shadow pack, the shadow of my home peering from the distance.Adam threw his hands in the air in victory. “Eureka!” He yelled and took a long breath of relief.“I should have come along with a bottle of wine,” he shook his head and sighed.cv I placed my hands on my hips and arched an eyebrow at him. “You're thinking of wine at this time?” His lips spread into a wide smile. “There's never a wrong time for wine,” he boosted with his chest puffed and threw his hands back and forth victoriously as he walked down our path.I smiled as I watched him take the lead. Adam was a hilarious man. He never took life too seriously and had a welcoming smile on his face whenever you came acr
Daciana's P.O.V Milton made love to me. My tummy was filled with butterflies as I pondered on our little episode before his beta interrupted. I was angry at him for ignoring me this past week, but something about his touch made me lose my senses. I ignored him until the next morning, still determined to push through with my plans to run off with Adam to save my sister. But I knew last night's episode would make it hard for me to leave. I had my bath but still wore my night dress and waited for Nick to leave the door for their strategy meeting with Milton and the elders. Cersei somehow found out about my plan and offered to be our lookout. “Will you return?” She asked, setting down a plate of food on the table. I looked at her gloomy dark eyes and sighed. “I should. I need to leave first.” She walked over to me and sat beside me on the bed. A smile played on her face each time she tried to look at me. “Is something funny?” “No. It's just, I heard you both last night.” “Huh?”
Milton's P.O.VI stood outside the bedroom, my mind a battlefield as I deliberated seeing her, or still keeping my distance. Each time I tried to talk to her for the past one week, she'd bring up the idea of leaving the pack.I didn't know why I refused her request. She had every right to just get up and walk away. This wasn't her home like she reminded me, and she didn't have to do as I wished, but she sought my approval time and time again, and I refused.I sighed and raised my hand to knock, but the door was flung open as I lowered my hand gently. I caught myself midair to avoid hitting her head. Her almost six foot body stood in front of me with a lime silky night dress that fell from her shoulders and hung above her knee. Long legs of pale tanned skin left bare, and my eyes instinctively got drawn to the little dip of her dress.I gulped. A thought of her body bare before me crossed my head, and I felt a jerk beneath my trousers. I shook off the thought and offered her a smile.
Daciana's P.O.V Milton came into the room quite early in the morning and went to his wardrobe. He picked out a few clothes and turned to gaze at me without saying a word, then he left. Over the past week since I told him of my intentions to leave his park, he had become withdrawn and distant. He barely looked at me and never said a word to me. I thought he was being childish. He even had Nick, his favorite guard, become my personal guard. I wasn't allowed to leave the house unless he said so. It was like being his prisoner all over again. I stood up from the bed and got undressed to have a bath. I only had a towel around my body when he walked into the room again and froze in his shoes as his eyes fell on me. I could feel his intense gaze as he looked me over, a certain desire lighting up in his body. But he shook his head like he had just resurfaced from water, and he looked at me with his shoulders squared. “What would like to eat?” I raised a brow at him. “You haven't spoken
