Waking up in Jackson’s arms was somehow different this morning than it had been the last time I slept next to him. Since I marked him, I have been able to sense his emotions better than before. He seemed to be content as he slept next to me, then a little annoyed as he started to stir, which made me laugh.

“Good morning, Alpha.” I whispered as I lifted my head to kiss his cheek. He answered by pulling his arms tightly around me and burying his face in the crook of my neck. I laughed a little and swatted him away. “Get up, we have a pack to run and it’s almost ten,” I urged.

He rolled over to his back and groaned with his arm over his eyes. “Don’t make me open the curtains.” I threatened as I set up and looked down at the man sleeping next to me.

He groaned again. “Not the curtains.” His voice was husky and he still sounded very sleepy. I leaned over him and placed both my hands on his cheeks. This caused him to move his arm, open his eyes and look at me. “Good morning, Luna.” He gr

I followed Liam and Ayla to the pack hospital. It wasn’t very big, but since werewolves healed quickly, the hospitals didn’t get much use, except if you had a witch doctor like Lunaflare pack did.Once we were inside, Abby led us to a back room where the morgue was. There were two rows of three beds all held bodies covered with sheets. “As I said before, Luna, I’ve checked over the bodies and found no marks of nesting.” She said, Her voice was friendly and welcoming. I tilted my head to the side, then looked back over at her. “It makes no sense. Rogue vampires don’t behave in this manner. I pulled the sheet back on the first vampire and Abby handed me a small flashlight. Ayla gagged a little and stepped out of the room. Abby pulled the entire sheet off her and I started looking over the body and saw nothing. “I don’t get it, I really don’t.” I said, then looked back over at Abby, who was still standing beside me.“Nor do I, Luna, it does seem off.” She added.I turned back to the bo

  • The Alpha's Children - Book 1: Ume   The Future of the Adder

A couple of weeks have passed since we discovered the nest markings and it was getting closer to Halloween. The Silver Adder pack had been getting attacked by these vampires every night. Sometimes it was just one and other nights it would be up to ten. They were testing our borders, or that's what we all assumed.Nothing got through. Jackon had tripled the night guard, which left us weak in the daylight hours. Vampires can’t be out in the sunlight, but I was still nervous. Jackson finally agreed to let me join the day patrol. He assumed, since it was vampires, that I would be safe during daylight hours. Today, however, I won’t be going out. I had to bless newborns. I was nervous. It wasn’t a real blessing, it was just the Luna accepting new wolves into the pack. I had always thought it was a bit ridiculous. If a pup was born into a pack, then of course, it would automatically be a member. But that was how the show went, and new mothers really liked the tradition. I’ve seen my mother

  • The Alpha's Children - Book 1: Ume   Sunlight

Jackson didn’t want me to come, but there was no way in hell that I was staying behind. If they were going to question a vampire that could walk in the sunlight, then I was going to be there. I promised to stay back and just listen, but I knew that I couldn’t do that. Liam was with me, so I would be okay.Drove into the woods until we reached a small cottage that was heavily guarded by our warriors. Once inside, there was just one big room and a small bathroom. In the back of the room there was another door. It was a huge vault door made out of thick silver. The guard standing by that door had on a thick pair of gloves and opened the door for us.Jackson, Logan, Liam and I all descended a staircase into the dark depths below. There was another door at the bottom that Jackson opened. I could hear his skin sizzle as he quickly opened the silver door with his bare hands. We stepped into a brightly lit room and I checked on Jackson’s hands, which he insisted were fine, so I looked around

“Ume, wake up!” The voice forcing its way into my head wasn’t Lasaya but it was familiar, and seemed so far away. “Focus on her voice, Ume.” This time it was Lasaya and she sounded right beside me. I nodded in my head to Lasaya and tried to follow the familiar voice back to the surface of my mind. How long had I been drowning in the darkness? “You’ve been asleep for like two weeks, get up.” A different but still familiar voice drew my attention and I followed it. I could feel Lasaya pushing me toward the voices outside. I couldn’t remember what happened. Why was it dark? Why have I been sleeping for two weeks? I missed Halloween? Lasaya gave me a strong push forward. “It will all come back to you when you wake up, just keep going, Ume.” I listened to Lasaya and pushed forward into the light. I didn’t feel scared, or in any pain, just curious and a little lost. When I finally made it to the light, I reached out and touched it with my hand, then I felt myself lying on my bed with t

I was curled up on Jackson’s lap. Neither of us said anything for a long time. It was just comforting sitting with him like this. He had his arms wrapped tightly around me and was resting his cheek on the top of my head. He was warm, and I felt a bit cold, so it added to my comfort level. After a bit, I shifted to look up at him, nudging my nose against his chin. “I missed Halloween.” I said in a small voice. He just looked down at me with a slight smile, then kissed the side of my forehead. I leaned into his kiss. “I wanted to cancel everything but your sisters insisted. Both of them said that you would be angry if I canceled”, he explained. It made me smile knowing that my sisters knew me so well. “Can you tell me everything that happened? I want to know every detail.” Jackson sighed and pushed his head into mine, nibbling a little around my neck and ear, causing me to flush a little. “Jackson!” He let out a sigh then pulled my body around to face him as he leaned back in the c

I was still sad about missing Halloween. I listened to Jackson recount telling me about what happened during Halloween as I flipped through the photos on my phone. It looked like they all had so much fun. I looked up at Jackson and ran my fingers through his hair. I wish he had stayed longer and actually enjoyed himself, but I don’t think I would be able to either if I was in his position.Jackson lifted me up and set me on top of his desk. He wrapped his arms around my waist and looked up at me with sad blue eyes. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you woke up. Vael said it was important to Sage’s spell that it was just her and Lyrie there.” He explained.I leaned down and kissed his forehead. I felt his hands move to my bare thighs, since I was only put on a purple sundress after my shower, no shoes and a simple ponytail. I really wanted to see him and didn’t want to bother doing anything else. “It’s okay. We are together now.” I smiled at him. Jackson laid his head against my thigh an

I looked in my mirror and lifted my fingers to touch the crescent moon-shaped mark that Jackson left on my neck and smiled. I shook my head, bringing myself back to my senses. He was waiting for me to go to the Beta meeting.I glanced in the mirror one last time before I headed out of my room and found Jackson at the other end of the hall. He smirked at me and took my hand. “You ready babe?” He asked and I nodded with a smile. I didn’t know how I could be smiling this much after everything. I got up from the table in haste to follow Vael out of the room. I almost ran into him as I walked out the door. As if he knew my plan, he had waited on me. I looked at him for a moment, it was nice seeing the doctor again. He was only a couple of inches taller than me, he had light blonde hair slicked back against his head with stubble on his face. Vael wore a white lab coat and a device that he invented that covered his left eye, almost like a monocle. I’d never asked what it was for, he’s had it since I’ve known him. I smiled at him but he didn’t return the favor, which I didn’t expect. Instead, he lifted his hand and grabbed my hair. My heart was racing as I closed the door behind me. Ruby was dead, I knew that. My father told me that he saw it himself. I hated that wretched woman. And my mom, Malia, was Ruby’s sister? I leaned my back against the wall and slid down slowly, wrapping my arms around my leg and resting my head on my knees. “Is my entire life a lie?” I asked, more to myself than anyone else. I felt Lasaya stir within but she was just as confused as I was and decided to remain at the back of my mind to let me figure out everything on my own. I held out one of my hands and opened it with my palm facing forward. I focused on the center of my hand and tried to push runic magic through the way Mobius had tried to teach me years ago. Nothing happened. I wasn’t surprised. I had never been able to use magic before. Only one of my siblings had the ability. I sighed and pulled myself up from the floor and made my way toward my office. There was only one way I was going to get the answers that I needed. I sat d

Time. It seemed to pass so slowly the last four months. Lyrie healed quickly, then my sisters returned to the Lunarflare pack with my mother. My dad and brothers haven’t been home. Jackson and the warriors from the Silver Adder pack came and went to aid my father in searching for my sister, Lily. I was just doing my best at helping the Adders recover from the loss we faced from the battle against the vampires. That and taking care of Allison. Allison was a cute little girl with a lot of spunk. She had light blonde hair and pale blue eyes and a cute line of freckles across the bridge of her nose. If Jackson and I took her out into the human world, she would probably pass as our own. I found out that her father was a pack warrior who was killed by a rogue attack shortly after Allison was born, and her mother was an omega who worked in the kitchen with Margo. She had no other family so I just kind of took her in. I never thought my first child would be the one that I took in. Jackson d

Mobius came to a stop near the daycare. The flames were rather large. “Mobi!” I yelled, drawing the bear's attention. “We need to get this fire put out.” He nodded and stood on his hindlegs. I watched as his white fur began to glow a faint blue aura. The temperature around us quickly dropped to a point where I could see my breath. The blue aura began to intensify. The moisture in the air around his fur started to freeze. In a loud roar, the frozen moisture shot from around his fur and coated the flames in a thick layer of frost, dousing the flames. In just a few minutes, all that was left was sizzling and smoke and a whole lot of frost.I watched in awe of the white bear’s power. It was the first time I'd ever seen it in action. After the fire was gone, Mobius was forced to shift back into his human form. After taking a moment to regain himself, he stood tall and helped me look through the ruins of the daycare. “Two bodies, Luna.” I heard his voice. I closed my eyes as sadness wash

“What does he mean? They took Lilly?” Sage was frantic. The phone slipped from my hand as my eyes shifted over toward Sage. “Ume, who took Lilly?” She asked again. I could hear the panic in her voice. I took a step closer toward her and wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into a tight embrace. Sage rested her head on my shoulder and started to weep. “Ume, what are we going to do?” she asked helplessly. I squeezed her tighter and fought back the tears that were trying to break through. “We have to take care of Lyrie, that’s what dad asked.” I tried to soothe my sister. “It will be okay, dad will find her. He always takes care of us.” I pulled her away and smiled at her. Sage nodded slightly at me, still crying. “We need to go home, Ume.” She said through her tears, tugging on the collar of my shirt. “No Sage.” I tried to soothe her by rubbing her dark hair. “They have an army at home, Jackson and all of our warriors are on their way to help our family.” I said to her. Lola glanced over at me and, without even being able to communicate with my sister and her wolf, we instinctively knew what to do. Lasaya moved and positioned us behind Lola and Lyrie. I could trust knowing my sister had my back and I had hers. I also knew these vampires were here for us and I would be damned if anyone hurt my little sisters. I knew Sage was safe with Vael and Kaylin, but Lyrie would fight. I knew from the moment we heard the screaming that she was ready to go. Our attacks were precise, she would lunge, then I would after I felt her safely behind me. I never turned to look at her as long as I could feel her. That was all I needed. She may have only been a child herself, but she was an Alpha and trained by the best. Ezekiel was also near. I watched as he made short work of a few vampires as he skidded across the field.
