Freya's P.O.V I backed away from the locker room quietly, trying my best not to disturb the two of them. Cameron and Sarah were friends. Best friends. So it was natural for her to share her pain and distress with Cameron…right? I really had no reason to feel jealous over the two of them. After all, Cameron was only hugging her to comfort her. But no matter how many times I tried to convince myself that it was pointless to get jealous over their friendship…I could stop myself. Seeing them so close together, embracing each other tightly as Sarah cried in his arms…it made my heart tighten inside my chest. I had come following after Cameron when I had found him leaving the stadium grounds in a hurry. It had surprised me greatly because he had just won the match and was supposed to accept the first prize. But instead, he had been rushing out of the field as if he was looking for something. So I had began following him; out of the stadium and into the school bui
Freya's P.O.V "Well, well, well! Look who the cat dragged in" I had no idea who the man was. He had shaggy brown hair that fell to his forehead in an unkempt manner and icy green eyes that were filled with greed. He was wearing all black clothing and it added to the darkness around his, making it nearly impossible to recognize his face. However, I did recognize the man who came up behind the stranger, looking worse than ever. "F-father?" I stuttered out. It felt like my tongue was as heavy as lead. My entire body seemed to have gone numb from fear as I stared at the two of them in utter dismay. This wasn't right! He wasn't supposed to be inside the house! I had checked the spare key…the letter box…was this…did I just walk into a trap? The lights turned on then and I realized that he had been living here for quite some time already. There were piles of beer bottles everywhere along with takeout packages. Where was he even getting t
Cameron's P.O.V Sarah and I stood outside Freya's rundown house as we waited for backup from my pack. I didn't want to help the wretched man. If it were up to me, I would've let him die, the same way he had left his own daughter to die. Freya never really confessed directly to her father abusing her, even after everything she went through. But she didn't have to confess, because Julian already did and also because I had scented this man on Freya that night when I had rescued her. "Cameron!" Adam, one of my dad's most trusted soldiers arrived at the spot with an ambulance. "What happened here?" "We have no clue." Sarah answered before me. "We followed Freya's scent here since she was…missing from the stadium." She gave me a side-eyed look to urge me to follow her story. "But when we came here, we only found her father. Injured and bleeding out. There's no trace of Freya and her scent just seems to have disappeared.&quo
Freya's P.O.V Smoke rose from the bonnet. My head hurt so bad that it felt like it was splitting into half. Groaning, I placed my hands on my temples and tried to see ahead as my vision cleared after the initial shock. The air-bag had inflated just in time to save me from being thrown out the window, but the man beside me hadn't been so lucky. His head had knocked on the glass window beside him and I could see blood dripping down his chin. Even the glass had shattered from the impact. Now was my chance! I had to get out! With my entire body aching in pain, I tried to push at the air-bag, but it wouldn't budge, so I reached down to the lock of my seatbelt and unbuckled it with some difficulty. Once I was free, I tried to open the handle to my door, only to find it stuck. Fuck! I pushed at the door with all my strength, but it seemed almost impossible with the air-bag taking up most of my space. I tried harder. I had to get out! I had to get away
Cameron's P.O.V "Darcia found Freya!" Sarah burst into the office unannounced. "Darcia found Freya! They're in trouble!" Immediately all of us were on our feet. "Where?" I headed straight for Sarah, shaking her shoulders. "Where are they?" "She…" Sarah looked lost for a few seconds before she looked up into my eyes. "The line went dead. She wasn't able to tell me." "Fuck!" I let go of Sarah to clutch at my hair. "But I know where she is. I can take us." I looked at Sarah incredulously. "What on earth are you talking about?" "I can't explain this, Cam!" She pleaded. "You have to trust me on this one. I know! I know where they are!" Shit! Was it that weird connection that Sarah had with Freya? Was that what was telling her where Freya might be? Could I trust her instincts on this one? Especially when Freya's life was at risk.
Freya's P.O.V My eyes fluttered open slowly to a dimly lit room and instantly, I felt myself sigh in relief as I looked around at the familiar surroundings. I was back at the pack house. I was back in my room. I was back where I belonged! I sat up in bed after some difficulty, looking around at the now familiar surroundings in awe. The last thing I remembered before passing out was getting in the car with Cameron's rival, Darcia. And then… "Freya?" Cameron burst in through the doors then and was immediately beside me. "Freya! Are you okay?" "Cameron…" I reached up to touch his face, feeling the softness of his skin, the light dusting of stubble on his cheeks. He was really here! I was really with him again! "Freya!" He engulfed me in his arms; holding onto me as tight as he could. I wasn't complaining, because I wrapped my arms around him too, holding onto him just as tightly. It was in his embrace that I
Sarah's P.O.V I knocked on the door to the guest room nervously. Having Darcia inside the pack house was a surreal experience that I never thought was possible; especially considering the rivalry between him and Cameron. But here he was, inside the pack house of the Ocean Runners and I was standing right outside his door, waiting for him to respond. Now that the secret was already out…I didn't know how to feel about any of this. There was no denying the mating bond pulsating between the two of us. I had felt it the very first day that Darcia had looked into my eyes, a week after his birthday when there had been an inter-school meeting for an upcoming competition. But it had almost instantly felt like a betrayal to both Cameron and my pack. It was also at that time that I had become aware of Cameron not being my mate and honestly, it had been a huge relief. Our entire pack had put too much pressure on the two of us to be together. I was glad that despite wh
Cameron's P.O.V It was about half an hour after Freya had fallen asleep in my arms that I crawled out of bed and tucked Freya in safely. Placing a tender kiss to her forehead, I moved back to watch her sleep peacefully. My heart felt full, complete. It was a miracle that Freya returned my feelings after everything she had been through. But I was glad that we could move past our differences, our misunderstandings, to finally form a beautiful bond of our own. This was her home now; I was her home. And I would never let anyone take that away from her. Silently, I left the room, letting Freya rest in peace as I made my way to my father's office. He usually wasn't up till this late, unless it was an emergency, but today counted as an emergency. Knocking on the door, I entered only after I was given permission…only to find Darcia and Sarah already there. Good. It saved me the trouble of having to call them in. "Cameron." My father motioned for me
