It was finally the day of the mating ceremony that the whole pack had been waiting for, especially the unmated wolves.

I was returning from that pack house that morning, back to the slaves' quarters when I heard some slaves talking about it. I had never attended such a ceremony before, even when it was held in my father's pack, because I had been my mate, Tony, when I turned eighteen, and from all the things I heard it seemed like it would be a very interesting ceremony.
