"Is everything all set, Meikle?" The quartermaster stood in a perfect straight posture with his feet pressed together. "Yes, High Mage. The carriage for the Luna is ready as well." "The foraged food? Water supplies?" "All set, sir." Phineas nodded with approval. "Good, the Alpha and Luna will return soon. Let's set off the moment we get the Alpha's signal." Meikle gave a slight bow and then returned to his duty. Meanwhile, the troops were gathering the produce in the nearby swamp. Herschel was very impressive to handle the wolves while the Alpha was away. Phineas would give him credit when it was due. However, despite his compliment, Herschel was… "Normally, you would laze around with such trifles." Speak of the devil. Herschel arrived with more horses that he and his men caught in nearby villages. And there were more supplies for food. However, Phineas frowned when he saw village female humans with their hands tied as they were pulled by him. Most of
"She did what?!" Phineas bellowed as his fists thrusted on the chair rests. We were comfortably sitting in the carriage as we talked. "So please don't tell Varick."After telling him every detail of the test, I later regretted it.Varick only knew about the two tests but not once I said anything about the second. I was certain if Varick found out about the second test, he wouldn't hesitate to declare a war against the mermaids. But with Phineas, I could openly tell him this without unleashing more problems. He slumped down on his seat as he sighed. "Do I have to remind you again that you are being damn reckless, Luna. If it weren't for your mana you would have been succumbed by the unknown entity!""D-do you know what that entity is, Phineas?"He shook his head. "No. If the mermaid queen didn't have a single clue then I would be a lost cause to this strange phenomenon.""Then, thank Hati that was over!" I sighed in relief. "Well, the good news is that I am back and we didn't need
"One more time!" Phineas exclaimed, and I started chanting a Wind spell to carry heavy things. Once again, nothing happened.I fell on the mountain peak ground, panting as I finally felt weary from the overuse of magical spells that had been wasted through my words. My eyes lazily moved up as I said with heavy breaths. "I told you…I couldn't do it."Phineas gave me a dumbfounded look. "T-that's impossible….surely the Hatiism spells are beyond anyone's power, and you did it without a problem…"He started strolling around in circles."Does that mean this is the consequence of learning Hatiism?"While he was thinking, a voice interrupted our training."Sir High Mage…Luna." The name addressed to me sounded forced. We both turned, and one of the betas lowered his head directly to Phineas."The Alpha wished to have you returned for supper.""It's late already?" Phineas sighed as he ruffled his silver hair. He gave me a smile. "Well, for our next training, let's just focus on your defense
"Are you certain it was wise to stay with me?" I asked as we entered the carriage. Unlike Phineas or Nadia who sat across from my favorite spot, my husband decided to be next to me. The carriage started moving and even though I didn't feel nauseous for the time being, I was still stricken with guilt. Varick just threatened his men if they defied him. And I felt an overwhelming anxiety knowing his leadership would be questioned because of me.Noticing my discomfort, Varick spoke."As an Alpha of the pack, my words are the most absolute. If they question my decision again, they are free to choose whether I should end them with my sword or my fangs."He might be kind to me nowadays but his ruthlessness remained the same. "Are you bothered by my men?" He suddenly asked."It's just that…" I paused for a moment. "I don't want the pack to look down on you and ever since I became your wife, the pack never treated you like you're one of them–"Oh no, I spoke too much. I clasped my mouth or
They had finally arrived at the gated vicinity of the Red Moon Pack. They camped within the grotto within the waterfall as it was a great place for their hidden base. The pack also removed every trace of their tracks behind. Horses were situated outside the grotto and three of the troops acted as guards and feeders for the stallions. The tents were placed as their temporary residing station. It was at night time when they arrived and they lit a bonfire inside. They made sure the vicinity was being protected by the High Mage's magic barrier to avoid tracing their scent. All men, weary from moving on foot, sat on the ground as they were waiting for the Alpha to make his speech. As they knew this war would be the first they decided to strike. In the past battles, a fight between them and the other packs happened when the outsider decided to strike them first. Now with the successful invasion and the innocent lives died through an unknown cause, in their minds, st
Varick clenched his fists as he glowered. Some of his men stepped back as their wolves whimpered. This was supposed to be a surprise attack, yet, why were they the ones surprised. In Varick's mind, someone–within the pack–relayed a message of their incoming strike. It wasn’t common to have his own men betray him in exchange for being spared from death. Yet, none were successful to ever live after the betrayal. "This will be the day we will kill you, Varick!" Cassius, the Alpha of Blue Fangs bellowed. Varick didn't respond as he threw out his sword and shield, making the enemy side "think" he surrendered. No, wolves who personally fought him knew that his armor was more of a disability of his. And now, the Alpha decided to strip himself off his armor, showing his chiseled body with his battle scars. The enemy packs roared in laughter."Surrendering yourself naked? I see the Neanderthal finally learned to give up!" One of the betas commented. Herschel gave a ghost of
“Phineas, send us there now!” Yet, Phineas stood there, petrified like his eyes stared at the smoke before him. I grabbed his shoulder and violently shook him to regain his senses. “We have no time, Phineas! Varick is—!”“No, we can’t.”At first, his cold voice surprised me before I glared at him. “Why not? We are the healers, aren’t we?!”Phineas turned to glare at me. “Luna, don’t let your emotions sway your decision! You can use your canine senses, right?!”As soon as he mentioned it, I sensed it. The scent was faint yet I could recognize it so well. I didn’t realize the lingering smell of a mixture of decaying bodies and toxins around the area. It made my stomach churned as I knelt on the ground.I rushed to a nearby bush and vomited. I was holding my breath for too long and when I came to my senses, the scent was so agonizing that I knelt down and threw up.“I can’t risk you going there, Luna. You are carrying the heir of the Skollist pack and something tells me coming closer w
Hello, The book will be on hiatus for the time being. I'm sorry, readers but I will return once I've sorted some stuff soon. Stuff happening lately and I didn't want to write something that wouldn't be interesting for all of you. Thus, I would like to take a break for a while. However, the update will be staggering and I won't be updating daily like before. I hope that's all right. I love this book but for the time being with the burn out I'm feeling, I'd rather pause and continue once everything is fine. Once again, thanks for your support for reading this book. Sincerely, Aly Wrights
