The next day, Lilith woke up to her wolf howling impatiently from within her mind. It was at any seconds now that her wolf would break through those walls caging her inside. Lilith groaned while sitting up in bed. She fisted her comforter tightly and fought against her wolf.
‘Not now, Lucy!’ Lilith chided as she moved to get off her bed.
‘It’s been days since I’ve been out for a run. Let me out!’ She insisted and kicked the walls with her paws. Lilith winced when her head pinched in pain thanks to her stubborn wolf’s tantrums.
Lucy would always show temper tantrums whenever she couldn’t have her way. No one would believe that they have true warrior blood running through their veins with the way her wolf behaves.
‘Okay, fine! I’ll let you out in about twenty minutes. Let me have some breakfast first.’ She tried to persuade Lucy while making her way downstairs to find her parents in the kitchen.
“Good morning, mom, dad.” Lilith disregarded Lucy once she heard her small whine before withdrawing to the back of her mind.
Lilith breathed out a sigh of relief and stretched her arms above her head to calm her muscles before taking a seat at the kitchen table.
“What’s wrong?” Andrei questioned before taking a bite of his toast.
“Lucy’s been pestering me for a run.” Lilith declared and poured herself some black coffee.
“You should really let her out when she needs it. You’ll only hurt yourself if you prevent her from shifting once in a while.” Erica stated calmly.
“I know I just haven’t been free lately for a run.” Lilith shrugged nonchalantly, slightly annoyed that her morning so far, was not going great at all.
“Right… you’ve been preoccupied with Jayden.” Her mother reprimanded. Her voice laced with disappointment.
Lilith stiffened up when her eyes met her mom’s pointed gaze. She placed her cup of coffee back on the table, her appetite long gone.
Erica has always been apprehensive about Lilith’s relationship even though Jayden was Lilith’s childhood friend.
Everyone close to them always contemplated that Lilith and Jayden would end up becoming childhood sweethearts but in their culture, there was no such thing as dating. It was totally unacceptable.
Erica always thought that Lilith should have waited for her mate instead of dating someone who most likely wasn’t going to be her mate.
She has never been wrong in her calculations and seeing Lilith and Jayden’s relationship so far, she knew for a fact that Jayden was not Lilith’s mate. There was nothing exceptional about her daughter’s relationship.
She couldn’t deny that Jayden wasn’t a good guy but she still wasn’t okay with them dating instead of waiting for their destined mates.
Lilith never understood her mother’s disapproval about her relationship. She was wise enough to keep herself pure.
Lilith did not want to regret her past once she found her mate.
Still, she was quite sure that Jayden would be her destined mate although her wolf begged to differ whenever this matter was brought up.
That was one of the reasons why Lilith maintained a good distance from Jayden even though they did kiss and make out a few times.
Thinking of Jayden, Lilith’s mood livened up and she paid no heed to her mom’s comment and grabbed herself an apple before standing up.
“I should really get going. We both need that run.” Lilith’s face hardened when her mom’s eyes locked with hers before she excused herself.
Only a few more hours left before she turns eighteen and then her mother would stop being so repugnant of her relationship with Jayden. Lilith thought as she ate the apple while making her way back to her room to get ready for her run.
She could not wait to be out there in the woods. To feel the earthy soil underneath her feet and to smell that sweet forest morning scent full of nature. Her wolf jumped excitedly once Lilith approached the trees surrounding the back of her house. The sun had yet to rise.
Her heart raced in anticipation while Lucy ached to be free.
Letting her wolf instincts kicked in, she felt her senses heightened. The features on her face appeared dynamic. She looked charismatic with her wolfish senses on display.
Everything else faded away. Her sole focus was on taking in the earthy air blowing with the wind.
Her heart pounded when she felt the soil with her feet. Her almond shaped eyes with thin lashes reflected the perfect shade of yellow, like a melted pot of the richest and finest gold. Joining Lucy, her body rushed with excitement.
After hastily stripping out of her clothes in order to shift, Lilith knelt down on all fours and let Lucy gain complete control. She felt her bones snap while adjusting.
Instead of feeling excruciating pain like she did when she first shifted back when she turned sixteen, she felt nothing but satisfaction.
She breathed in when she felt her fingers and toes elongate into claws and dig into the ground. She released the tension in her jaw when she felt it widen while her skin tingled as her fur extended.
Lucy dominantly took off running straight ahead the moment she was free.
Lilith loved the morning air. This morning, it was refreshing, with a slight cold wind.
Their enhanced sense of smell picked up on the different scents while they ran at full speed towards their spot, the birds jumping from one branch to another, the small river side nearing up ahead, all the wildlife running free through the forest.
Lilith made sure to stay within the pack’s territory and away from its borders since she was not looking forward to meeting any werewolves guarding the borders today. She wanted to spend some alone time with her wolf.
In a short time, they had made it to the caves, their favorite spot.
Lilith shifted back to her human form as she slid down in between the caves to swim across the river and get to the waterfall. The water was freezing but Lilith was used to it. She dipped her head in before coming back up.
She lay down on the riverbed and closed her eyes, just listening to the wildlife after getting dressed. Although she couldn’t smell anything in particular like earlier due to the water scent, she could hear every single thing.
Her shirt clung to her wet shoulders, yet, as a werewolf, she did not really feel the chill. Werewolves were pretty warm-blooded.
Lilith did not know then that this would be their last run.
Lilith couldn’t stop smiling occasionally whenever she thought about mating with Jayden tonight. After lunch, Lilith took out the red dress she had chosen for the mating gathering. This dress caught her attention when she went shopping with Aria last week. She decided right then and there that this dress was perfect for this special event.“Are you sure you don’t need help getting ready, sweetie?” Erica Venerelli stood in the open doorway leading inside Lilith’s room.“No, thanks, mom.” Lilith told her mom. “Aria is coming over soon.”“Are you feeling okay?” Erica asked for the umpteenth time today.“I’m fine, mom.” Lilith shook her head, her long dark hair sliding across her shoulder.“Okay then… Later.” Erica nodded before hesitantly leaving.Lilith knew that there was something troubling her mom but she completely ignored it think
When they were close enough to touch her, Lilith was pulled out of the bewitching trance the haze had upon her and ran into the woods. Fierce growls echoed from behind her, sounding closer than she would have wanted. She kicked her legs to move quicker but it seemed like all her powers were gone. For the first time ever since she was born, she felt like she was a mere human being and that alone scared the crap out of her. ‘Lucy, are you there?’ Lilith asked her wolf when she felt her stirring anxiously. ‘Barely’ Lucy’s voice sounded weak. ‘What is wrong with you?’ Lilith’s heart sank as she realized that she was on her own in this fight against the male werewolves and the Moon Goddess. Lucy wouldn’t be able to help her at all. Lilith couldn’t comprehend why Lucy was getting weaker as time ticked by and why she couldn’t feel any of her powers. As a ranked warrior within the pack, she should have been able to fend herself despite her wol
Blaze Westbrook, the future Alpha of the Blood Moon pack, sat with his back against the trunk of an old maple tree at the foot of the cross mountain. It was not hard to see beneath the haunting of the full moon. The moon hung up high in the dark sky, bathing everything in a soft blue hue. The trees casted eerie shadows, looking ghostly but Blaze used his wolf’s eyesight to detect any movements through the dark forest. He leaned his head against the tree trunk as his mind wandered off to the conversation he had with his parents this morning. They have been constantly reminding him of attending the mating gathering tonight. Their wish was unwavering. Since he was the future Alpha, he had to attend the gathering to find his mate but it didn’t sound appealing to him. It’s been five years ever since he turned eighteen and he hasn’t had any luck in finding his mate during the past mating seasons held every year. Either his mate hadn&rsquo
How could his mate be in heat at this time of the year? No one had ever been in such predicament before, that too, during the mating season unless the one hundred year old myth about the sigma was true?Blaze did not want to believe something that was only known as a myth. Yet, he still couldn’t help but think why the Moon Goddess chose to degrade Lilith to being the pack’s sigma. If Lilith was the next pack’s sigma then there was no way his parents will accept her as his destined mate and the pack’s destined Luna. She could pose a threat to the pack. That meant only one thing; Blaze wouldn’t be able to accept her as his mate.It was getting hard for him to calm his wolf when his mate was oozing such a sensuous scent. His breath hitched before his breaths started to shake as he got another whiff of her heat.He clenched his fingers tightly. His nails grew back into claws and his canines extended. No matter how much he tried t
Blaze leaned closer, their faces drawing near, and he could feel the heat of her breath mingling with his. He closed his eyes when he got a nice whiff of her delicious scent. His jaw ticked in anger. It drove his wolf insane that he couldn’t touch her that he couldn’t tell her why he had to stay away from her. Lilith’s belly churned with different emotions, fear, anticipation and desire, desire? She resisted that strong emotion, wanting nothing to do with it. Lilith’s eyes glistened with unshed tears and her lips trembled in fear. Bash whined and reluctantly let Blaze gain control, his eyes changing back to his normal silver color. Realizing that he reacted impulsively, Blaze backed away. “We’ll have to wait till dawn. That’s when the mating season usually ends.” Blaze said, avoiding her eyes. Hearing this, Lilith quickly put his jacket on to cover herself despite wanting to throw it back on his face. She wasn’t looking forward
At her parents’ side, Lilith trembled uncontrollably. She was so distraught she could not speak. Their shoulders shook with silent tears. They couldn’t bear to see their daughter in this state. “Let’s get inside.” Erica advised. They guided Lilith inside the house and sat her down on one of the couches. Lilith tightened Blaze’s jacket around her shoulders. She fisted the material in her hands. She heedlessly breathed in his scent which was strangely soothing. The mate bond was still affecting her emotions. But, my wolf died! Lilith thought. “Lucy is gone, mom! She left me.” Lilith broke down. She was devastated by the loss of her wolf. “What is a sigma, dad? What are they talking about?” Choking back her tears, Lilith asked. She couldn’t control her emotions. She was miffed that the Moon Goddess chose to mess up her life when everything was going accordingly to her plan. “There hasn’t been a record of one in almost one hundred years. People began sayi
Lilith was enthralled by the looming trees as she followed the trail to the great valley. The Blood Moon pack ground encompassed a large forest area, two huge mountains and some valleys with the great valley belonging to the Venerelli’s. The great valley stretched away ahead of them for miles, a valley with grass of a rich green, well-timbered, but more as a park is timbered. Winding lines showed here and there revealing the courses of streams and far away, the high masses of hills were visible. The continuous line of the trail was lost amongst clumps of fine tall trees, but odd stretches of it remaining visible showed it angling down until disappearing south-west, towards the pack’s south border. The Blood Moon pack would often use this ground for pack training in werewolf forms since it was the biggest of all the other valleys. Reaching the great valley, Lilith’s mind wandered over to her childhood. She would spend majority of her time training under her parent
Lilith woke up to her mom’s low and urgent voice.“Beta Travis is asking for you at the pack house.”Lilith groaned before nodding with a sigh. She got up and rushed inside her bathroom to get ready for the day.She hurried downstairs once she was done but her mom refused to let her go without having some breakfast.Lilith was aware that her parents were pretending to act like everything was normal. The tension hanging around the house spoke differently. There was less than a week time before she would have to leave the pack. Once she left, there would be no chance of her ever returning. She smiled at her parents while joining them at the kitchen table. She wanted to cherish the little moments she had left with them. She felt nervous when she entered the pack house to find the living room area filled with some pack members. The omegas were running to and fro in a frenzy, trying to keep up with Beta Travis’s list of wo
She needed him. Now. No waiting. “Blaze,” she moaned his name, urging him to hurry up. The broad head of his dick pushed at her, and she hooked her other leg around his waist, opening herself to him more fully. With steady pressure, Blaze worked his way in, his eyes never leaving hers. “I love you, Lilith.” “I love you, too, Blaze.” He began to move, slowly at first, then more aggressively, until she was forced to grip the edge of the mattress. The bed squeaked, an erotic chorus to their small sounds and whispered words of love. Reaching between them, he found her clit and strummed the little bundle of nerves, gently at first and then faster. Her orgasm rolled over her and dragged her under. She couldn’t see, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t hear and didn’t care. Wave after wave of pleasure rocked her as he refused to let up on the pressure on her clit until a second orgasm took her and she cried out. He followed her over the edge, burying his face in her neck to muffle his shout.
Aria hugged Lilith for one last time before she stepped back. “Thank you for everything, Lilith.”“Shush,” Lilith shook her head at Aria when she sensed her about to start crying.Aria was leaving the pack forever but she wouldn’t be alone. Chris would be with her.She glanced at her mate with a weak smile when he slipped his hand in Aria’s right hand, interlacing their fingers.Chris squeezed her hand tight to reassure Aria that no matter what happens, he would be with her, always and forever.Aria wasn’t sad that she was leaving the pack except for the fact that she would miss her mother and Lilith. She was looking forward to a new start. This was also a way for her to repent. She couldn’t even look at Lilith in the eyes after what she did to her.Alpha Blaze was nice enough to spare her life after all the crimes she committed. The moment she crossed the pack borders, she felt her bond with the pack sever. It was so sudden that she jerked in reaction.Chris wrapped an arm around her
His mother walked inside the awfully smelling cell and looked straight at Aria who was shackled to the wall.If there wasn’t any remnants of his mate’s scent, Blaze would have puked at the disgusting smell.“Got anything else out of her?” Ignoring the odor, Blaze asked Eric, the warrior who had been assigned for the questioning.“All she kept saying is that she would kill our Luna. She even dared threaten the Luna herself while she was interrogating her.” Eric replied.A chill embraced Blaze as he heard those words.“How come no one was aware of her planning an attack and her escape? How did she even get a weapon when she was imprisoned, and the poison?” Blaze questioned.Eric shrugged, “We suspect it must be someone from her family unless one of our warriors is a traitor.”“None of our warriors know Aria. You might be right about her family. It must be someone from her family but who?” Blaze wondered.“I know who it is,” His mother interrupted.Blaze quickly looked in her direction a
The night before, Mary got a dream about a she-wolf being imprisoned in the dungeons. She knew that the she-wolf had a connection to her in some sort since she got a glimpse of a person dressed in a black cloak passing something over to her through the metal bars. She couldn’t see their faces. He had her back to her and was blocking Mary’s sight of the she-wolf.That she-wolf was planning her escape and this man would help her get away.Mary felt her heart literally stopped when the man walked away and she got to see who was imprisoned inside. It was Aria. She woke up with a start. After a while of just sitting there, she glanced at the clock to see that it was already six in the morning. She hated that she was a soothsayer. Most nights, she wasn’t able to get enough sleep because these dreams would come to her. She would get glimpses of events that would come her way through her dreams. But, she only got the ones which related to her as in to her physical form. Why would she dream ab
“Looking for me?” Lilith jumped, turning so fast her hair flew around and over her shoulder. Ruzek grinned at her. Lilith smiled back at him. “Hey,” she waved. Ruzek mimicked, finding it adorable. “About the work you said we had to do…” He trailed off when he noticed Lilith glancing around them with searching eyes. Lilith suddenly remembered what she had to do. Find Blaze but where was he? “Yeah,” she looked around, “what about it?” “I won’t be free during the day.” Ruzek said with a frown as he tried to discern what Lilith was searching for or whom she was actually searching for. It must be Blaze, Ruzek thought as he caught the Alpha talking to his Beta. Lilith turned to look at Ruzek, but his eyes were fixed at something behind her. Before she could turn to look, she felt Blaze. She felt his presence, her skin prickling with an invisible force of attraction towards him. It was the mate bond doing its magic and not to forget, Lucy was siding with the mate bond as well thes
New energy and optimism strived inside Lilith as the bells rang. The sun peeked brightly through the thick clouds. Pack members stood in line, cheering and hooting names as Ruzek, the nine men and the omegas were asked to come forward. It was the day, the day Lilith had been anticipating with anxiety but great expectations. She was sure the omegas would make great efforts to accomplish deserving respect for themselves.Lilith trained them for two consecutive nights. It was hard but it was not impossible. Her parents came over to help her. Together, they tried the technique both Lilith and Ruzek planned out and it worked out.It was finally time for the battles which Cole had organized for the omegas and rogues. It was to determine their new ranks within the packs.Lilith could feel the nervousness radiating off the omegas while the rogues just appeared indifferent and ready to fight for a higher and well-earned rank within the pack.Jenny, on the other hand, seemed a little bit nervou
A few days had gone by. Lilith got three more missions which she accomplished in no time. The training was going well. Ruzek, Jenny and the nine other men were ready for the battle which the former Alpha prepared for them. The omegas needed to be trained some more. They got a lot better in self-defense but their fighting techniques still needed to be improved. There were only two days left though before the week would be over. Worried and tensed, Lilith glanced around the great valley and went through all the specific trainings she gave them. She wondered where she went wrong. Deep in thought, she didn't notice Ruzek approaching her until he spoke. "What are you doing here all alone?" He looked up at the sky. The sun had dipped below the horizon, the last gasp of beauty before the death of the day. Lilith took a moment to look at the setting sun before saying with a shrug, "I've just been thinking about a few things." "Like what?" Ruzek asked out of curiosity. "I’m worried I
“It’s great to see you all here. We’ll start by running twenty-five times around the valley but in your human forms.” Lilith began by pointing at the running trail that surrounded the boundaries of the great valley. “I’ll see who can run all twenty-five rounds. The ones who give up after a few rounds can come stand in this spot. The ones, who complete it all, will do the next task.” Lilith explained further. She thought there would some complaints from the omegas but they were all ready. They seemed determined to complete all twenty-five rounds. Ruzek, the leader of the rogues and the nine other rogues were the first to head over to the starting point. The omegas soon followed them. “Come on!” When Lilith blew the whistle, they started running at a slow pace. Lilith looked at them with satisfaction. The great valley was the largest training ground in the Blood Moon pack. It stretched away ahead of where Lilith was standing for miles. The continuous line of the trail was lost amo
The rogue's eyes flashed with rage. It seemed like a wild beast was standing in front of Lilith and not someone who was once an Alpha. He clenched his right hand and swung his arm at Lilith, but she blocked his punch at the last second. Lilith wasn't there to kid around. She had to complete her task and be done with it by this evening. He narrowed his eyes down at her, pissed that he wasn't able to hit her. "Surprised?" She raised an inquiring eyebrow at him while her lips tugged up into a smirk. He pulled his fisted hand free before sneering at her with anger lacing his tone, "You got lucky, you bitch!"In a snap of moment, Lilith’s power leashed at the leader and she grabbed him by the neck before slamming him into a wall. "What did you say?" How dare you call me a bitch?" Lilith's jaw contorted with anger as she seized him by the throat, stifling his screams and pleas. His expression darkened, and the color drained from his face as he realized that he made a grave mistake cha
