Chapter 5

*Alyssa*

I woke up to a bright sunny day, I looked out my window and took notice of the bright blue sky outside. On days like this, I'd smile and roll over on my bed, but today I felt gloomy. Not only am I going to be leaving my pack but I am also not going to be able to see my sister again. I wondered how she was doing. Where she was? And all I can do at the moment is to lay quietly on my bed and see what fate throws at me next.

With that in mind, I let my thoughts wander back to what had happened the night before. I had indirectly asked Rurac to leave on purpose, I truly wanted to be alone. That feeling I got when we were too close to each other was something I couldn't apprehend, I choose to believe it was because of the emotional rollercoaster I'd been going through but then I couldn't stop thinking about that moment with him.

I genuinely thought I'd be repulsed by his presence but I found myself getting attracted to him at the pond and I couldn't get the feeling of being close to him out of my head.

A knock at the door brought me back to reality, I looked towards the entrance of my room and realized that it was already open and my mother walked in casually. She had a dress in her hand and neatly placed it at my dressing table, she stole a side glance at me and I could tell she was trying to start up a conversation.

"What is it, Mom!" I sighed, giving her the opportunity she needed to speak to me about whatever it was, stressing her out.

"Um... I'm sorry I took your phone away" As she said that, I realized that I hadn't seen my phone since yesterday but then it doesn't matter, as I didn't care.

"Oh". "Well, I mean. Today, you will be leaving the pack and I didn't want to take any chances so I had stolen it from your room." She seemed to be finding it hard to speak to me, probably because she feared I'd be upset and run away before the mating ritual begins. My wolf could sense her uneasiness and felt sad just like I did.

I slowly rose to my feet and went to her side. I checked the gown's pocket and found my phone inside. I opened it and tapped on my and Jenny's last discussion then showed it to Mom. "You blocked her?"

"Yes," I said. "But I planned to unblock her today" I revealed. "Thank you Alyssa" I looked at her confused. Why was she thanking me? Because I cut my sister off? Or because I said I'd unblock her soon?

"Thank you for doing this. I know I haven't been close to you and your sister lately....it's just that, you know this has to be done for the sake of our pack. And I have always taught you to keep the interest of your pack at Heart while making decisions." She explained.

"I get it, Mom. I'm not doing this for you or Dad, and neither am I doing this for Jenny. It's not for me so, you already know it's for the pack." She came closer and embraced me lovingly. As much as I'd love to pretend that I truly didn't care about my parents, I genuinely loved them wholeheartedly. And I would do anything to protect them and this pack, they are my family.

I took a long shower and got dressed up. By the time I was out of my small closet; Mom had already packed up my things. I could hear my wolf grumble in dislike of what was going on but I inwardly tried hard to calm it down. I stepped out of my room and walked down the stairs to the living room where the ritual was going to commence. I had requested a small and simple mating ritual as I wanted it to end soon.

I looked at the people gathered in the living room, they weren't much and I was grateful for that. My father, Alpha Kayden, stood beside his mate and Luna of the pack, my Mother Marie.

They stood next to each other, holding hands lovingly as a couple. I looked to my left and saw Rurac's parents standing a few inches away from each other, I guess they weren't into faking the loving couple thing. Rurac stood 10 feet away from them and had a distant look in his eyes, I could tell that he hadn't yet noticed my presence. The rest of the people present seemed like close relatives of both families. I walked down the last three steps before approaching them casually.

Gown that showed off my curves, I knew he was fascinated by my beauty. But I couldn't care less about that. We got to the altar and finished up the rituals rather quicker than I had expected.

After the rituals were complete, the two families sat together to discuss promoting safety and building a stronger bond between them as they had now become one family.

I couldn't help but feel used as I heard them talking, it seemed that they were really happy about this alliance but they didn't stop to think about how I felt about this, and neither had they asked how Rurac felt about this. I gazed into Rurac's eyes and realized that he had a cold and distant expression on his face, I couldn't tell if he wanted this alliance or not. I wondered why he always had that expression whenever he was around his parents. Though that would explain why they never bothered asking if we were happy with this.

It was finally time to leave, I hopped into Rurac's car with his help. And soon we took off, headed for The Blue Moon Pack. I looked back at The New Dawn Pack as we kept moving further and further away from home, I kept my gaze fixated behind us until I could no longer see the Mansion.

"Stop the car" I suddenly heard Rurac say. We were the only ones in this car with our assigned driver, I was confused as to why he had ordered the driver to stop the car. Has he changed his mind about me? Was he going to throw me off and leave me here?

The driver parked the car by the roadside and gazed at Rurac through the aid of the mirror, he was probably waiting for new orders. I looked behind us to see that his parent's car had also stopped behind us.

"Get out" he ordered. I wondered for a while if he was ordering me to get out. "Now" and with that, I got out of the car and the driver did the same. His parents got out of their car confused.

*Rurac*

"Get out" I ordered. "Now" and with that, Alyssa got out of the car and the driver did the same. I could see my parents also got out of their car confused. And after a few seconds, I also got out of the car and walked to the driver. "The other car," I said simply and he walked over to my parents, understanding my words.

"Are you gonna get in?" I asked Alyssa who had been standing there with a confused expression on her face the whole time. She gave me a look before moving to the other side and getting into the car.

"Put on your seat belt. I won't stop even if you beg me to" I ordered. She slowly put on her seat belt and I immediately stepped on the speed, I zoomed off at a high speed.

"I hope your stomach can handle this. I won't be stopping either way" I said.

"Why do you have to do this?" She asked

"The Blue Moon Pack is quite far from The New Dawn. And with the damned slow pace of our assigned driver, we would get there in 12 hours. But with my speed driving; we will be there in 6 hours from now." He explained.

"Unless an accident occurs and we end up dying" she spoke in a sarcastic tone

"Don't worry, I'm not gonna let you die yet" I replied, I felt her gaze on me and stole a glance at her. "Yet?" She repeated.

"You're gonna die someday. And so am I" I explained. She didn't say anything after that and I appreciated her silence, I never liked the chit-chat while driving. By the time we got to the pack, it was already dark out and only I knew just how dangerous it was here at night. Some of the werewolves had gone wild and attacked travelers here and I looked towards Alyssa to find that she was fast asleep.

I decided to slow down a bit, so as not to disrupt her sleep. I thought back to what had happened last night. Whoever it was that shot that arrow was most definitely aiming to kill her; the only explainable reason why someone would aim to kill her the night before our mating, was to disrupt the mating.

I knew neighboring packs were most definitely not in favor of the alliance between the New Dawn and Blue Moon pack, but I had no idea it would lead to so much violence that would result in an attempt to kill Alyssa. I had my most trusted men search into this problem and I hoped they find information on the werewolf who dared to attack my mate.

I noticed something ahead of us and immediately stopped the car. Someone had placed spikes on the road. If I hadn't seen it on time, it would have punctured the tires and destroyed our means of getting home soon.

I got out of the car and looked at the spikes, I could hear rustling sounds in the bushes but acted oblivious to it. I brought out my phone and texted my parents, informing them about the spikes, and asked them to use the other route. I didn't have to wait for long before I got a reply from my Father and he replied "Be safe".

I walked to the front of the car and sat calmly on it. I shut my eyes closed and focussed on the sounds around me, they were trying to be quiet but I had already sensed their presence. I waited for a while expecting them to make a first move but as seconds ticked by they only seemed to conceal their presence even more.

With a sigh, I got off the car and cleared the way. I made sure all the spikes had been assembled at a spot and then kicked hard on them sending the spikes flying towards the direction in which the rouge werewolves had been hiding. "Still not gonna come out?" I asked.

I walked back to the car and was about to open the door when someone grabbed onto my hand stopping me from advancing. I immediately grabbed onto the arm and hit the werewolf in the spine leaving it weak against me. More and more came out of their hiding.

"I'd love to stay and play but, the lady is asleep and I wouldn't want to disrupt her sleep," I said calmly

"She won't make it out alive. Neither will you" I heard one of them speak up. I mentally buried the sound of his voice vividly into my memory, so as not to forget it anytime soon. They all had their face hidden behind ugly black masks.

"Seeing as you all hid your faces behind ugly masks, I'm sure your faces look worse. I've heard of you rogue werewolves, but it's too bad. You'll soon go extinct now that I'm Alpha ". "We'll see who goes extinct "They all switched into their wolf form and so did I.

The fight was just as I predicted, quite boring, and I had to end it quickly as I noticed the ruckus going on was disrupting Alyssa's sleep. In the end, I let them all scramble away like good little terrified pups.

I switched back to my human form and licked off a little blood on the side of my lip. I got into the car and closed the door with a little loud bang, the sound awakened Alyssa and that suddenly annoyed me.

"Are we there yet?" She asked before yawning loudly "No" I replied before starting up the car once more "Why'd you stop?"

"I had to take care of a pest issue here first. Don't worry, we'll be home soon" I assured her before I began driving once more.

We got to my mansion and walked in together, she seemed tired and I decided to show her to the room first. I opened the door to my room and she slowly walked in. She immediately went in search of the bathroom and began stripping right before me.
