Chapter 3: Meeting Grandpa (Alpha) Adrian

I looked out the windshield and my jaw dropped.  The biggest, most luxurious cabin was sitting right before my eyes.

“What is this place?!” I asked in awe.  My mom stared at me for a long moment and finally answered me with her lips pressed in a thin line, “Your Grandpa calls it the Pack House.”

Huh, that is a weird name for his house.  “Is this Grandpa’s house? Why does he call it the Pack House?”

“Yes, this is Grandpa’s house, but his close…. Umm business partners and their families live here too.” My mom was speaking slowly and carefully.

“Umm, that’s weird.  I have never heard of someone living with their business partners. Is that even normal?!”

Before mom could answer, a bear of a man stepped out of the cabin and stood on the huge wrap around porch.  He looked like a lumber jack with a red and black plaid flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up exposing his muscular forearms. He had long lean legs covered in dark blue jeans and brown hiking boots on his enormous feet.  Seriously, what was in the water here?!

“Rima, who is that?” I whispered.  Without looking at me all the while, glaring at the man before us, mom unbuckled her seat belt and started to open her door. “That’s your Grandpa.”

“That’s Grandpa?! How old is he?  He barely looks older than you?”  What the hell is going on here.

He was easily 6’ 3” and extremely intimidating with his stoic face and crossed arms over his chest.  I couldn’t tell if he was happy to see us.  He looked, sad?  Was that the emotion I was getting from him?  Why would he be sad?  No, it was regret.  I was feeling his regret, but I had no idea why. What happened between him and my mom all those years ago?

---

Grandpa Adrian just nodded at my mom, letting his arms fall to his side and headed for the door.  I guess that was our cue to follow him inside.  I did my absolute best to not let my jaw hit the floor when we walked through the front door.

I had never experienced this level of luxury in my life.  While our home in Oklahoma was not bad, it was simpler, and nothing compared to the rustic luxury that was before me now.

I puffed my cheeks out before exhaling as I took in the scene before me.  Everything was hard wood with beautiful rugs that had both a modern and a rustic feel at the same time.  It was weird, but it worked.  The colors were a mix of slate gray and blues with black accents.  It was gorgeous.  Even the hard wood had subtle hint of blue in them here and there.

Grandpa Adrian led us through the foyer and into a sitting room.  He abruptly stepped toward mom and gave her a hug. She stiffened at the contact and didn’t hug him back.  It didn’t seem to faze him as he said, “It’s good to have you home, Rimmy, we’ve missed you.”

Dad used to call mom, that.  Hearing it now, hurt my heart.

Mom stayed quiet and soon his attention fell on me.  He took a step back and looked at me closely.  He smiled broadly and scooped me into a bear hug.  “You look just like your mother except your gorgeous blue eyes and light blonde hair.  Those came form your father.”

He pulled back to stare into my eyes as if he was looking for something.  I had no idea what, but for some reason, I hoped that whatever he was looking for, he found it.

Grandpa Adrian smiled broadly, and said, “I think you will fit right in here.”

Mom cut in then, and asked if we could be shown to our rooms.  We were both exhausted from all the driving and I could use a nice hot soak in the tub.

Despite Grandpa Adrian being huge and intimidating, I found that I really liked him and couldn’t wait to get to know the bear of a man.  Grandpa nodded his head and a young girl stepped forward and offer3d to show us to our rooms. She brought us up to the 3rd floor to the west wing of the cabin.

It was set up like an apartment with 2 bedrooms, a sitting space, and a small kitchenette.  Both bedrooms were large with their own bathrooms and walk in closets.

“My name is Gina.  If you need anything just hit the buzzer in the kitchenette, and myself or another Omega will come to assist you.”  She then bowed her head and left.  I stared after her and mouthed the work o-m-e-g-a with wide eyes.  Why did she call herself an omega? Like Alpha and Omega?  I was so confused!  I looked to my mom for answers, but she was already walking to her room.  Right. Well, I guess I better check out my room too.

---

My room was gorgeous!  My bed was huge and soft, and I could sleep on it forever!

The bed spread was a deep turquoise blue, my favorite color, and the walls were a light gray.  It was like someone crawled into my head to pull out all my favorite things and put it into decorating this room.  I went to the walk-in closet expecting to see a bunch of empty racks and shelves, but I was wrong.  Holy shit!  This closet was full of clothes and they were all my size and style.  Pinch me because I must be dreaming!  Ouch! Nope, I was wide awake.

I grabbed some underwear, a bra, and some comfy clothes and headed to the bathroom.

The bathroom was the most gorgeous thing I had ever seen.  It had light grey and white tiles with turquois stone accents here and there and the bath was a large claw foot tub.  There was a separate shower that looked like it was big enough for 3 people.

I opened the cabinets to get a couple towels and realized the bathroom was fully stocked with my favorite things as well. There was even makeup in my colors, but I had never used such an expensive brand.

Wow.  I couldn’t believe that this was my life now.
