“Brother?”

“One of our roommates,” Hazel confirms. “My evil twin.”

He rolls his eye at her and she snorts. Seeing them side by side, the resemblance is uncanny.

“Call me Thorne,” he holds out his hand for me to shake. His grip is as warm and firm as his gaze is gentle and kind. “So what’s this I hear about you being a prostitute?”

The three of us argue for the next 30 minutes about whether or not Rental Lunas are prostitutes. Hawthorne brings up the point that he is not asking for sex. “Prostitutes get paid after having sex.”

“You haven’t had sex with him,” Hazel leans in closely. “Right?”

“Um, no.” I blush, a wanton image flashing through my mind. “All he’s done is ask me to work at his office and occasionally come to public events.”

“So no sex, and he gives you a car AND pays for your schooling,” Thorne’s eyebrows shoot up. Just for being his employee?”
